- awtripp, on 07/16/2008, -0/+17doesn't Favre realize he's on the cover of Madden 09? He can't come back or he'll be cursed! MADNESS!
- trademarkhero, on 07/16/2008, -1/+14It's time to move on. Give Rodgers his day already.
- josereyes0, on 07/16/2008, -1/+9The problem with Brett Favre isn't so much that he's aging. It's that he's an incredible distraction in numerous ways, including roster move indecision. For example this year, had he not said he was retiring in the first place, I doubt the Packers would look to the 2nd round to select a Quarterback. Two years ago when he was contemplating retirement before and after the draft, the Packers were also in a tough position to decide. Now, they have selected a quarterback in the draft and shaped their roster in a way to make up for not having Favre, and sure enough Favre decides to come back. They really need to move on, it's in the best interest of the organization.
- Jay730, on 07/16/2008, -2/+9I feel kinda bad for Aaron Rodgers. Hes a great player, he hasn't got much playing time but if you've ever seen him in college, practice (this dude can mimic any QBs style) or last years game against dallas you know what I'm talking about. I love Favre as much as the guy but i hope he doesn't come back It'll be bad for the packers in so many ways.
BTW I'm a Giants fan. - marcduke, on 07/16/2008, -1/+7At least Aaron Rodgers is saying all the right things now.
- dave911la, on 07/16/2008, -4/+9aaron rodgers is AMAZING!!! go bears!
- f4nt0m4s, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5I heard on the news this morning that Favre was threatening to show up to the Packer's training camp. I feel sorry for Rodgers...he's been on the bench for the past 3 years, and now that he's supposed to start there is a whole mess of drama storming outside the Packer's window. Anyway, I wish Favre would have been more graceful about this situation. But, best of luck to Rodgers.
/Bear's fan - LDubs48, on 07/16/2008, -2/+5Favre at this point is overrated - he's probably thrown the five dumbest interceptions I've ever seen, including, appropriately his last pass against the Giants. The Packers would be better off developing for the future now with Aaron Rodgers.
- gkiltz, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3Remember Danny White!
At least he made it to a Hall Of Fame at some level!
He was the first coach in the Arena Football League Hall Of Fame!
It was the only way he could get the recognition he deserved, for no other reason than because he followed Roger Staubach!
He even was the punter, and the backup QB while Staubach was still there! Still never got out of Staubach's shadow! - marcduke, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3Maybe this mess is the Madden Jinx. He's basically pissing all over his legacy. The was the most loved player in the NFL, bar none. But I'm hearing a lot more "Shut the ***** up, Brett"s than "Give him what he wants" these days.
- palmy523, on 07/16/2008, -2/+40 more years!
- morninglorii, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Both sides are being *****. Favre should quit being such a diva in front of the cameras and speak with the Packers in private, and the Packers need to stop strong-arming Favre and let him play elsewhere if he wants to. Obviously I'm in neither of their shoes so I may be missing something, but this is how I see it.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1I'm on Brett Favre's side here. Heck - he's a SUPERSTAR and he simply wants to play one more year for the team he led to the NFC Championship game last year.
Green Bay - Shame on You!
Why would you even consider not bringing back one of the greatest of all time?
I hope Favre goes to the Bears or Vikings and puts a serious whoopin' on the Packers. That would be entertainment! - jamessavik, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1Aaron Rodgers won't silence the critics unless he goes 14-2 and wins the super-bowl.
You just can't win following a legend. Fans are notoriously impatient when it comes to developing quarterbacks. - djholybolt, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Favre was the best thing that happened to that team. With a stunning year like he had last year, it's rediculous that they are opting for Aaron Rodgers.
I hope that he gets picked up by another team as the starting QB and mash it to the superbowl. Piss in Green Bay's face. - Jerim, on 07/16/2008, -2/+3Favre realizes that the Packers are moving on without him. Favre has no issue with that. Favre simply wants to be released so that he can play elsewhere. The Packers are trying to strong-arm Favre in to not playing. They have told him that if he chooses to unretire, he will be riding the bench. People can make Favre out to be the villian if they want, but the man simply wants to play and if the Packers don't need him, they should just release him.
- dave911la, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR- RAH
GRRRRRRRRRRRR----RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR------RRRRRRRRRRAHHHHH - rblancarte, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1Yea, because clearly they don't need him. Tarvaris Jackson is so much better than Favre.
- josereyes0, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1Actually, I'm hoping he does come back so the Madden curse continues. Good choice by the Madden marketing folks to choose a retired player to break up the curse. And if someone wants to me to tell me that the curse died last year because Vince Young didn't miss time, he played injured, with a quadricep injury that I'm sure had some impact on his 9 TD/17 INT season, a QB Rating of 71.1 topping only the likes of Cleo Lemon & Brodie Croyle.
- rblancarte, on 07/16/2008, -3/+4I know that this is going to get me crushed and buried faster than you can say Vince Lombardi, but...
I feel no pity or sympathy for Aaron Rodgers in no way shape or form. The guy has proven nothing in the NFL. Sure he had one good game (against Dallas), but that was against a defense that was not prepared for him to play (preparing only for Favre), but that doesn't prove he is going to have continued success. It is already know that Jeff Tedford schooled QBs don't have a long lifespan in the NFL.
The other thing is the guy has been a big crybaby. At Cal he whined about how Texas lobbied to get into the Rose Bowl after the 2004 season, passing Cal in the final BCS poll. Then Rodgers went out and laid and egg in the Holiday Bowl as they get beat by a crapy Texas Tech Team. He continued to crack on Texas saying he didn't hvae to lobby (like Texas in 2004) to be the #1 pick in the draft. He fell to the 20s since he wasn't #1.
So now he has to deal with this. First off he is following a legend, a general recipe for success. And on top of that, the legend wants back. Hey Aaron, maybe it is time to lobby for that starting spot. - kaplanfx, on 07/16/2008, -0/+1Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-Rah!
- romeyinfc, on 07/16/2008, -0/+12 of the last three off-seasons when he played really ***** and threw more INT's than TD's
- marcduke, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1Actually, he said he's "tempted" to do that but he won't.
But he's already changed his mind once this off season, why not again? - wilywondr, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1Maybe he should have thought of that before he signed the contract.
- marcduke, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1Why shouldn't the Packers get something for him in return? They stuck by him and waited the past 3 off seasons while he made up his mind. If Brett wants to play, fine - but it's as a Packer or as part of a reasonable trade to another team. A release is out of the question and he and his agent knew it when they asked for it.
- HowitZer25, on 07/16/2008, -2/+2Please let Rodgers start.
- BringerOD, on 07/16/2008, -0/+0Release him. For everyone that says he must do this or do that. If the team does not want to start him, they should release him.
- kaplanfx, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1All Rodgers (not Rogers) has to do to win the fans over is to win games.
- BatmanStan, on 12/16/2008, -0/+0Aaron has done great for the Packers this season, I guess it was a good idea
http://chaiseloungeoutdoor.com - zacharytelschow, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1"...if the Packers don't need him, they should just [trade] him."
- palmy523, on 07/16/2008, -1/+0It does seem that Favre is kind of screwing the packers by his indecisiveness, not that it matters to me Green Bay is not my team.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 07/16/2008, -2/+1Brett...seriously, just shut the ***** up and walk away. You were the one that said you have no desire to play anymore, and now that you've changed your mind the team is supposed to bend over backwards for you?
I feel bad for Aaron Rogers here...Favre is only going to turn fans against him and ruin any fair chance he has at winning many of them over.
You made your bed Brett, now sleep in it. - toddc612, on 07/16/2008, -2/+0As a Vikings fan, watching this from the sidelines (har, har) makes for good fun. I think the Packers should release him, if that's what he wants. He's a great player -- no one can argue against that -- but they've already put their plans for a new QB in motion.
And, for the love of God, please DON'T let Favre come to Minnesota. - palmy523, on 07/16/2008, -3/+1The guy has to and stop playing sometime
- wonderbriefs, on 07/15/2008, -7/+4It's about time we get some new blood! If Favre wants to come out of retirement, (he should know what a risky move that is) then let him become a free agent. It could be poetic justice seeing him QB for the Viking. Bears on the other hand would just piss everyone off.
- packman86, on 07/15/2008, -9/+24 MORE YEARS!!!
- napk, on 07/15/2008, -18/+5Answer: Who cares?
Rodgers hasn't done a damn thing in the NFL.
FAVRE FOREVER
