- jroussell, on 09/13/2008, -1/+45so i shouldn't start him this week on my fantasy team then?
- rww5000, on 09/13/2008, -0/+24"Buried for not being any of our business."
QFT Absolutely correct. I emailed a complaint to ESPN as soon as I saw that report. Really irresponsible and inappropriate of them to be reporting about that in the way they are. - SimmaDownNow, on 09/13/2008, -1/+16The curse of the Madden cover.
- stonewaljacksn, on 09/13/2008, -0/+14its sad that you had vince young on a fantasy team in the first place lol
- irvman21, on 09/13/2008, -0/+14What is the therapist doing calling his coach to divulge her client's personal information? The police and maybe family members are the only ones that should be notified in a situation like this, not her client's boss.
- mille716, on 09/13/2008, -0/+12I'm not so sure you understand the nature of depression.
- muleskinner, on 09/13/2008, -0/+11This has no business being in the news. If the man is having a problem, talking about it publicly on television is probably not in his best interest. But then again, media like ESPN doesn't really give two ***** about the mans best interests anyways. If it will make them a dollar, they'll talk about it on air.
- Neiby, on 09/13/2008, -0/+10In this case, the therapist was relaying information from the family, not from Vince, and it was probably information the family wanted the coach to know. That is not protected, but Vince's own comments to his therapist would be.
Besides, if a therapist honestly feels that one of their clients is suicidal, and that suicide is imminent, I think it is their duty to intervene. - Neiby, on 09/13/2008, -0/+9Being rushed into a public position that you're not prepared for and being under the hypercritical eye of sports fans across the country can also cause a bit of stress, I've heard.
- HamSandwich, on 09/13/2008, -0/+9I don't know, ask Michael Vick...
- catfish182, on 09/13/2008, -0/+9Kerry Collins, not Terry.
- pukiman, on 09/13/2008, -2/+10You both are illiterate, so go kill yourself.
- keyforce, on 09/13/2008, -0/+7Why not? One version of Madden extends beyond one version of Madden.
- Gunsotsu, on 09/13/2008, -2/+9Dear Coach Fisher,
If this is in anyway true, please, bench Vince and get him some help. We, the Titans fans, can live with a man in the pocket with a record of 1-3 as a starter, and the possibility of a losing season. Terry Collins can step up and fill the void. And we will happily take last place if it ultimately prevents a man with a gift for the game, and someone we all love, from making the ultimate mistake. For your sake, for our sake, and most importantly for Vince's sake, please heed these words.
Signed,
The fans - ajmon001, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6Note to the trolls: depression is a serious, potentially debilitating, medical condition. Belittling someone with depression won't cure the illness. And, the available medications for treating depression have various, often obnoxious, side effects.
- KDX200rider, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6A coach can be a powerful influence in someone's life, maybe they have that kind of relationship. Either way he needs someone to step in, before he makes the biggest mistake of his life.
- adikt, on 09/13/2008, -1/+7FTA "Police arranged for crisis negotiators and SWAT officers to be on hand."
OK men. If Young presents a weapon of any kind, shoot to kill. - smacksaw, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6For all of the people who are saying he is weak or that he should just kill himself like a real man - just remember those words when after a lifetime of parenting, your son/daughter does something like killing themselves or ruining their life and remember how smart you were right now.
- tombomb, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Glad to see that he is getting help and not being ignored.
- Muzz27, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Agreed. This story should have been kept between the Titans, the therapist, and Vince Young's family.
- Neiby, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5I kind of agree with you. In the long run, it would be better for everyone involved if this sort of story wasn't reported. Sure, it may be news, but we just don't need to know. We, as a public, do not benefit in any way by knowing this information. Vince and his family, on the other hand, are under yet even more stress because of it.
- smacksaw, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Schizophrenia?
- dafragsta, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Does the curse extend beyond one version of Madden.
- dondara, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Or at least taser him till he pisses himself, that always cracks me up.
- keyforce, on 09/13/2008, -1/+5No way man, that lanky mother ***** juiced.
- mlvassallo, on 09/13/2008, -1/+5Juicing? Your comment is both uninformed and unintelligent.
- WiZZLa, on 09/13/2008, -1/+4...yoursevles?
- monkyboyrr, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3so what, there are millions of other suicidal people in the world. Leave him the hell alone.

/pours one out for Keith Ledger, Barney Mac and George Carlon. - Laminarcissus, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3Thanks for your sincere disclaimer before expressing how one man's near-suicidal depression is really working out for you.
- litothegreat, on 09/13/2008, -8/+11im guessing your not a pussy, so go kill yourself
- forcedfx, on 09/13/2008, -2/+4Why are you replying to yourself?
- designer, on 09/14/2008, -1/+3If I played for the Titans I'd be suicidal as well.
- TrueJustice, on 09/13/2008, -2/+4he was injured last week, which is a huge reason for his inner turmoil, and frankly he's not a good fantasy quarterback anyway... might want the titans in your suicide pool though....nyuck nyuck nyuaaaah
*props for mentioning FFB on digg, that makes two of us in the whole community that play, too dangerous a sport for most diggers I'd guess. - adikt, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2In certain kinds of relationships with the coach you need to say, "No!" then go and tell someone you trust.
- grandmaz, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1vince young is not suicidal this whole situation is being blown way out of proportion his family and team need to recognize that he handles his personal situations the way he wants too which involves being alone, also vince young is the best weapon the titans have and benching him WILL NOT help them win games, this whole situation is ridiculous, throw to gage and crumpler more
- dafragsta, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1Well played keyforce.
- electricwaffles, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Yeah, as a Titans fan, I would hope my brethren know the name of their backup QB.
- djholybolt, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1limbo line of grammatical failure
- inactive, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1buried cause he didn't kill himself.
- mlvassallo, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1VY would have to be Juicing first. Which he isn't.
- samard2002, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1It's spelled "yourselves".
- vurdillac, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1If the man is having some problems, then publicizing them and humiliating him is not the kind of "help" he needs. ***** back off!
- emland, on 09/13/2008, -1/+1The psychological changes that occur can be arbitrarily divided into three groups, representing a continuum of effects from milder through to more severe changes, especially if continued high doses are taken.
Early effects are seen as changes in mood and euphoria: there is an increase in confidence, energy and self-esteem, with enhanced motivation and enthusiasm. There is also diminished fatigue, sleeplessness and an ability to train through pain. Libido may be decreased, but is more often increased, sometimes markedly. 11 Irritability, anger, agitation and a "strange edgy feeling" are commonly reported.
With larger doses or after taking anabolic steroids for a longer time, there is a loss of inhibition and a lack of judgement, with mood swings or grandiose ideas. Prolonged users become suspicious, quarrelsome, impulsive and more aggressive. 7
Severe effects manifest when these aggressive feelings increase to the extent that violent, hostile, antisocial behaviour develops, meriting the descriptive title, well known in the steroid-taking community, of "roid rages". These rages can result in property damage, self-injury (including reckless driving or crashing cars), assaults, marriage break-ups, domestic violence, 12 child abuse, 12 suicide 13 and attempted murder or murder. 14-20

All kidding aside. It's sad. As a die hard Sooner fan, it's hard for me to say this, but I really liked Vince when he was at Texas, except when he was playing my Sooners. I pulled for him against the Trojans, even though it wasn't good for the Sooners in recruiting for Texas to win that game. I hope he gets the help he needs and has a good career. - inactive, on 09/13/2008, -1/+1who the hell dugg me down? seriously i was making a point. why the hell did it need to be reported that vince was found at some friends house eating chicken wings? to me it was an unnecessary note that would never have been added to a ***** carson palmer story. but since it's a black guy they found him eating wings and they thought that was newsworthy. what the *****?
