- Trojanmn2, on 11/06/2007, -5/+45Rookie of the year right there
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -10/+28Adrian Peterson is ***** amazing. This is the first season in awhile that has made me excited to watch my home team.
- Bokista, on 11/06/2007, -3/+18I'm assuming you're a Vikings fan, but how great was that 109 yard FG return?
- punch, on 11/06/2007, -7/+20I was at this game. The second half was amazing.
- TomK88, on 11/06/2007, -5/+17Kind of like he did in college? Oh wait...
- Aaronontheweb, on 11/06/2007, -5/+16As a chargers fan, I wanted to vomit after seeing how many rushing yards this once vaunted defense gave up. Props to AP for being awesome though.
- threemagic, on 11/05/2007, -1/+10When you have LaDanian you run on first down, second down, and on third you throw to him...
I realize AP (ALL DAY) had a great game.. is having a great year...but even Chester Taylor had a great year in Minny...
AP is not BARRY... hell he's not even the best in the NFL right now.. that honor is still LaDanian Tomlinson.. - hokeywebb22, on 11/05/2007, -2/+10really? Show me some consecutive seasons of output like Sanders and then I will agree with you.
- jonssonar, on 11/08/2007, -4/+12you have to give Hutch and the other O-line a lot of credit. Alexander had an MVP year in 2005 running behind him and I think that has a lot to do with Peterson's early success.
- stevealford, on 11/06/2007, -4/+11Barry Sanders was indeed the best ever. He never had a good passing game to take pressure off the run and never had a great line ahead of him. People talk about Emmett Smith's alltime yardage record, but conveniently forget that Smith had an All-Pro offensive line ahead of him for nearly every snap he took and had Troy Aikman there to pass to Michael Irvin and Jay Novachek and a few other notables.
If the Lions had given him a halfway decent offense to operate with, he wouldn't have retired so early and would have easily taken the alltime top position: he averaged 1,500 yards per season over his ten year career. Smith only beat him by 2,000 yards and he played for FIVE years longer. Sanders also has a higher yards-per-carry average behind that ***** Lions line than Smith did in big D. Barry Sanders is unquestionably the best ever.
Btw, I'm a Raiders fan, so there's no favoritism or "homer-ishness" being shown here. - youRrich, on 11/06/2007, -4/+11Congrats to Cromartie, also. He was able to make the longest play in NFL history with 109 yards. It was a fun game to watch, but I was disappointed in the Chargers, especially Rivers.
- Lafftermath, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d803e06db
There you go. Nearly 5 minutes of nothing but Adrian Peterson highlights against the Chargers. - sticko13, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5if it weren't for tom brady, i'd say MVP!
- orthodoxDrew, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4One Mr. Walter Payton certainly does. Dugg anyway.
- pixelate, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4You are overthinking this, sir. Listen:
Teams from Minnesota. Teams from New England. Star players going from one to the other. Trend emerging. Sarcastic comment made by "cani" in reference to trend.
That's all... no one is claiming that AP is actually going to get traded. Calm down. For what it's worth, "throwing money around" isn't a key part of the puzzle in a salary cap league, so that's not what the Pats have been doing.
(Oh yeah, I forgot to include David Ortiz in the list.) - Fixhotep, on 11/05/2007, -0/+4Do it again? This was his SECOND 200 yard game this year. He is leading the NFL in rushing by 310 yards. As a rookie. 6.6 average per carry. 6.6 with 1000+ yards is sick, not matter how you look at it. (This is an argument for this season only, not of all time)
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -0/+4My fantasy team is composed of naked chicks...
- Fixhotep, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4The Chargers have a good run defense... ranked 7th if I remember correctly.
- Thumper13, on 11/06/2007, -9/+13My Chargers defense made me sick today.
That kid has some nice blocking in front of him.
My remote almost didn't survive the game. - Thumper13, on 11/10/2007, -1/+4You know nothing about football and I won't even argue with you.
Phillip is having a rough 2nd year as starter. The O line, the D line and the Corners have a lot of blame as well. You can't pin 297 yards on the QB.
Don't even get me started on the coaching. HEy look....first down. LEts run. Idiots. - Gamer2k4, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3"HEy look....first down. LEts run. Idiots."
That's what you do on a first down. You run the ball, since it's a low risk play that has a chance to gain some good yards. - Gamer2k4, on 11/06/2007, -2/+5"Tom Brady is the obvious choice for league MVP right now"
Or Favre. He's passed his way to seven victories, with no support from the running game. - ethon, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3Lewis just scored 4 TDs yesterday for the Browns. Coming back off of injury
- TitoMB345, on 11/05/2007, -3/+6I just don't see it. Sanders was/is in a league of his own. In my mind, Sanders is the best ever. AP is incredible, but he's no Sanders.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=yifWMmU7cSM - inactive, on 11/06/2007, -1/+4Hey im a Vikings fan, and even I find that amazing - nothing better then big plays! (and hey - they are usually against us)
- brentinkc, on 11/06/2007, -6/+8Marty Schottenheimer, anyone?
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Ever get the feeling you're just different than everyone else?
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2This water's wet!
- Fixhotep, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Moss had MVP talk when he was a rookie, and that wasn't all that long ago.
- CerMakAlot, on 11/05/2007, -1/+3What about Robert Smith?
As a vikings fan, I love watching Adrian Peterson play and was happy to see him get the record. Now if we can just win the next 8 games... - tjordan83, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2He is not like Emmit Smith.
- ronmexico, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Smith was a different kind of back. Easy to tackle but if he got free no one was gonna catch him. His speed was amazing. But yes, his problem was that he was always injured. I think '98 was the only year he wasn't injured. What an amazing season that was for the Vikes, to go 15-1 and miss the Superbowl on the first and only field goal Gary Anderson missed all season. Looks like the Patriots are on their way to breaking the Vikes' most points in a season record.
- Fixhotep, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2That's true. A lot of offensive players who are physical like that only are so for the first year or three. After they realize what it does to their bodies on a pro level they start running out of bounds.
- Wamzlee, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I was at that game too. Was pretty amazing experience for being my first NFL game I ever been to! I got some pictures of the 109 FG return, but wish I wasn't so far up in the stands so they would have been nicer close-ups.
- morninglorii, on 11/05/2007, -1/+3Yeah definitely, I'm not even saying he'll have a shot then (I'm pretty sure Brady has it locked up unless he has a gigantic drop-off)... I'm saying it's amazing to even hear a rookie's name mentioned when talking about MVP.
- ronmexico, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Agreed, Peterson is amazing, but a good offensive line helps. Emmit Smith owes everything to that unbelievable O line they had in Dallas. I mean you could have driven a car through many of holes he got in his career.
- ronmexico, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Perhaps you are forgetting the fact Minnesota traded Moss to Oakland for nothing in return. I guess we had to make up for getting Hershel Walker in exchange for all of the draft picks we gave Dallas that led to their Superbowl teams. Two terrible trades.
- cowboy86, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2No I believe he's right. Merriman sucks without his roids. Last time I checked they're sitll running the 3-4. It's not his fault that Merriman isn't a well-rounded linebacker and can't do most things. You know because I'm so sure a coach would take a sack happy guy and use him in a different way the next year. Sure he might end up with maybe 10-11 sacks this year if he's lucky. But he is and never will be as dominating as he was on steroids. None of us can help it if your new coach sucks ass either, or the fact that your quarterback is garbage.
- Thumper13, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2god I hope you are a troll and not that stupid.
- xobecide, on 11/05/2007, -4/+5I like seeing these comments get dugg up, mainly because of what the members who digg you up are thinking.
"***** you, you're embaressing comment shall remain." - mrbfro, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1Fix is right, going in they had 83 avg. yards allowed per game all season.
- OUChevelleSS, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Same here!
- cornerback42, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1I drafted him on a bunch of my fantasy teams, and I agree 100% with you.
AD AP MVP ROY - threemagic, on 11/06/2007, -0/+1I know.. and rushed for 40 yds.. the point is, he is NEVER going to be considered with the greatest of all times even though he broke the record
- morninglorii, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1Good point. I was pretty young then though, so I don't remember it that well (which I guess makes my "first time I'VE ever heard..." thing kind of meaningless). Any others besides him and Moss?
- OUChevelleSS, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1SOONER!
- jroll8481, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1honestly, he probably could get injured for the rest of the season at this point and still get rookie of the year. He had broken the single game rushing record, and he already has over a 1000 yards rushing. Dwayne Bowe and Calvin Johnson are the only other notable rookies this year on offense, and niether of them have had the impact that he has. I understand your point is to not get down on your knees and drink his Kool-aid so soon, unfortunately you would need to name someone who could get it instead of him.
- tjordan83, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1What a team to do it against to. I mean when you talk running backs it was all about LT.
