Oh, come on, just laugh and move on. - Merendino, on 10/22/2008, -5/+20When you've got millions of dollars why murder dogs... why not bang hookers and gold diggers like the rest of the super rich?
- rcarroll215, on 10/22/2008, -0/+11Most of them were rescued by Best Friends:

"Don't shop... Adopt!" - Dagolith, on 10/22/2008, -3/+14You aren't the only one. I understand punishment, but 2 years is a little excessive. People do things like stab people for less time.
- aamo, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9it isn't the fighting...its the conditions he kept them in, and the way some were killed that's the problem.
- oldhick, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9The were not ALL put down.

Dogtown - Saving the Michael Vick Dogs - specialbuddy1, on 10/22/2008, -4/+12He should get more if you ask me. The good thing about this is he will lose many of his endorsements, sponsors and fans. His reputation being ruined is better then the jail time.
- rcarroll215, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8Fighting other dogs to the death does not come "naturally" to dogs. They have to be trained to do so.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog#Behavior_and_inte ... - vtdanokim, on 10/22/2008, -3/+11What Vick did was disgusting and I do not condone dog fighting at all, but please explain to me how Vick got 2 years for dog fighting and most likely a permanent ban from the NFL, where as idiots like Pac Man Jones have done far worse things and have gotten slapped on the wrist.
Vick would have been better off raping women, at least he would have gotten off of the charges and would still be playing football in the NFL (or cut for his awful throwing arm). - lazydrumhead, on 10/22/2008, -5/+12That would be insanely stupid. Just because there's one ***** on the TV screen? Get over yourself.
- oldhick, on 10/22/2008, -2/+8Vick got screwed. Two years is a joke for dog fighting. They were his property and there are a lot of people that need to be in jail that we are letting out to fit guys like Vick in for...
But at least he manned up, took responsibility and is doing his time. He already fought the dogs and he can't go back and change that. What he can do, he is doing. And that is to complete his sentence. - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+6Unless they were trained to be aggressive toward humans, even fighting pit bulls would probably just be super nice to him. Their aggressive temperament is directed toward other dogs, squirrels, rabbits, etc, and even this can be mostly dealt with through training.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -6/+12Animal cruelty is one of the very few things that a ***** like me can be trolled by. Someone needs to ***** this guy up.
- DrunkenPirate34, on 10/22/2008, -2/+8I logged in just to digg you down you stick *****. Dogs are not vicious my nature, they are trained that way. No one should get off on murder, child molesting, fraud, etc, (as you put it) but this sick ***** VICK deserves to die for the atrocities he did to these dogs. Micheal Jackson was found NOT ***** GUILTY, he didn't do anything in the eyes of the law. Vick pleaded guilty to training dogs to fight to the death.
You disgust me you no good piece of *****. - familynight, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5For a slave, my dog has an odd tendency to create more work for me rather than less.
Out of curiosity, how much of your comment was serious? - awtripp, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5But it is! The money is doubled and questions are harder!
I'll take "Dog Eat Dog World" for 1000 please, Alex! - smthop3, on 10/22/2008, -1/+6Look, what Vick did was bad, but your kids aren't suddenly gonna wanna chain up some dogs just by watching him play football, sheesh, overreact more please.
- m771401, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5Actually yes. Some were relocated to DogTown in Utah and rehabilitated. One of which cannot be adopted out but has a permanent home at DogTown.
- CraveEscobar, on 10/22/2008, -1/+6I love when commentators say, "The Vick-less Falcons."
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -10/+14It is so weird, I must be the only person who thinks 2 years of someone's life is excessive punishment for killing some dog. Was it the dog fighting that was a federal crime or was it the gambling?
- Ozzsanity, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4I have volunteered at Best Friends and know for a fact that those people care very much for animals.
- dse78759, on 10/22/2008, -2/+6But stabbing somebody in a fight is a unplanned act of passion.
Buying a half million dollar house just to breed and train dogs to kill is a deliberate and long term violation of the law. - Huangism, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4because he is an idiot
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -1/+5***** fights are illegal.
So is bull fighting. You're thinking of rodeos.
The only places where these "sports" are legal are backwards ***** holes like spain and mexico.
And you're an ape. You are now disqualified from being human.
Degenerates take pleasure in animal fights for entertainment, not humans. - ZzFDKzZ, on 10/22/2008, -2/+5Let this bastard rot in jail.
- xsecretfiles, on 10/22/2008, -5/+8Is it because he is black?
- normalkid0615, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3dugg for banging hookers
- xsecretfiles, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4Why so Serious?
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3As I understand it, it was running an interstate gambling operation that did him in. Had he just mistreated a dog... it's unlikely anything would have happened to him.
- smthop3, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3First off lornefs OJ got found not guilty, so whatever you wanna say about him killing someone is just moot. Even if we do assume he got away with it, it's still a bad metaphor, slaughterhouses DON'T do anything illegal was what he was saying. Also, do you know some of the conditions some slaughterhouses are in, they're pretty atrocious, but naturally you wouldn't care because what you don't know can't hurt ya. If you idly sit back and eat cheeseburgers you're a pretty disgusting person yourself when held against your own standards. Now I don't advocate the killing of dogs, but you wouldn't give someone two years in jail for cockfighting, and the only reason why some of us see dogs in a more elevated light is because of how society portrays them.
- Huangism, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4yes let the dogs kill VIck!! die Vick die!!!
- shakajumbo, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4No *****. I think 1/2 the so called "dog lovers" are mearly just celebrity haters enjoying Vick's career going down the tubes. Now I know some of you really DO love dogs, and I too think his behavior was disgusting, and warrented punishment. But I also think he's served his time, and the TENS of millions he's lost (both actual and future earnings) are punishment enough. Let's not forget this was his first run in with the law.
I don't see nearly this much "dog love" at animal rescue events in my area, but get 7 or 8 Michael Vick fans discussing the possibility of his return, and *poof* everyone's suddenly championing the plight of the dog, and refusing to let this man live down his mistake. Let alone give him a genuine oppurtunity to make amends.
Vick has lost more $$$ from this case than most of you will ever touch... in five lifetimes. No dog is worth that
It's over, he's sorry, and he will return to the NFL (soon). He'll also continue to earn way more $$$ than most of you, and you'll move on to the next person to hate instead of focusing to improve your own life.
Time served. - Spuy767, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3They should do him like the did the fat guy in "Snatch."
- normalkid0615, on 10/22/2008, -10/+13I am sick of people saying how he was deliberately murdering animals.
Any slaughterhouse in America deliberately MURDERS cows, chicken, pigs for profit and thats legal. Just because one animal is cute and cuddly and another is fat and smelly we should discriminate? - specialbuddy1, on 10/22/2008, -2/+5He wasn't killing the dogs for food. I am sick of people like you thinking senseless death is the same as killing to put meat on the table.
- normalkid0615, on 10/22/2008, -2/+5Chinese culture eats dogs and cats. USA has dogs as the stars of our movies. India culture worships the cow.
Either way, all creatures were put on this Earth for our consumption, entertainment, and (for some) pleasure.
We must accept all cultures around the world as unique and civilized and not judge them. We lost many great cilvilzations because we judged them too harshly, see Tenochtitlan. - nopointinnames, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4Please see this list of NFL players who have not fought dogs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_NFL_t ...
What do I expect from an NFL player? Someone like Warrick Dunn who consistently gives back to the community in multiple ways, not fight dogs in their free time. - SuperVepr308, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Several were rehabiliated at Dogtown. Some where actually adopted but the vast majority were not so lucky (many had a disease that makes adoption really tough).
- str3ama, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3crucify the bastard, and no I'm not calling for violence. I think they should make a serious example of him, throw a huge penalty to his professional career and give him some serious jail time 10+ years no parole, no community service, no time off for good behavior.
Make all those idiots realize the penalties for abuse will be severe, and make it clear that celebrities will not be put on a golden pedestal because of their fame, they will serve the same amount of time as anyone else caught for the act. Make an example of this *****, as well as DMX - f*cking douchebag is a repeat offender. - pilott, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3What utter *****. Pitbulls are trained as fighting dogs because of their physiology, but mainly because they are VERY trainable. They are not inherently evil or vicious, it is just sick human garbage that turn this very trait to the most disgusting ends. Early last century pitbulls were highly regarded as family pets (the little rascals and betty boop had pitbulls) and now people think the breed should be banned.
Even if the breed was somehow completely wiped out, ***** like Vick would just move on to another breed. - cadmiumpaint, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3civilized people and cultures don't take pleasure from watching animals die from "sport"
***** fighting and all of its related practices are the games of spineless, soulless cowards. - Cerialthriller, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4if a dog kills a human, the dog is put down. If we are just as much animals as them, why not put humans down when they kill dogs?
- Cerialthriller, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3im pretty sure its in all professional sports rules that any sports betting even legal and regardless of sport is strictly against the rules and can result in a ban. look at pete rose for example.
- nofate2029, on 10/22/2008, -10/+13Whatever verdict he receives is too good for him.
- lornefs, on 10/22/2008, -2/+5Why do dumb-asses like you always fall back on the lame "Well they are doing it so why can't I?".
One thing has nothing to do with the other. OJ got away with murder, does that mean that you should too?
BTW, murder only applies to human beings.
This issue here is not the slaughter of animals cruel as that may be, but the ability to treat an animal so badly that it becomes vicious and then is forced to fight to the death.
The ability to do that speaks volumes about the person involved and in my opinion it says that this person should not be in the society that I want to live in. - Cerialthriller, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3what it all comes down to is should a guy who was running an illegal gambling ring be allowed to participate in professional sports where he has a chance of ***** over his team and making the sport look like a joke while making millions of dollars
- kingjaydub, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3A Dog’s Ten Commandments
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. - Cerialthriller, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Or they could just screen the buyers better. Most deaths from dog attacks are by dogs that are not fixed, and many of those deaths are caused because the male dog thinks a child who is going near the female in heat is competition. Breeders shouldnt have animals in heat around their children and owners shouldnt have pets running around that arent fixed. its bad for their health if they arent being bred and its dangerous.
- dse78759, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Sigh. I'm no pit bull lover , but it is not in any breed to act this way.
However, behavior of a PARTICULAR dog is predicable.
In the mauling cases you always hear about, the owner always says 'he has never done anything like that before'. But what animal investigators will tell you to do is ask the NEIGHBOR. That's when the truth comes out.
The owner of a violet dog is no more objective than the mother of a criminal. -
