- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8A bullet to the brain or a electroshock and an impaling both give relatively quick and painless deaths (electroshock knocks out the animal before it's stabbed). What vick did was gruesome and horrible.
also, there is a difference between a wild animal and a domesticated animal. - libertao, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What the ***** does this have to do with Vick being black?
- chiggah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4NAACP: Old white guy say "nappy headed hoes" - demands firing, ruin his rep, than talk to the people into suing him.
NAACP: Black guy kill dogs for illegal gamble ring and enjoyment- "please don't crucify him" "He deserve to get his NFL star football job back after punishment"
I'm speechless. - ShugNinx21, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That has more to do with Vick being a popular superstar in the NFL then it does with race. Tom Brady could have done the same thing as Vick and you'd get the same "please don't crucify him" "He deserve to get his NFL star football job back after punishment" deal.
- shug7272, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4***** Vick. He couldn't be punished enough.
- bill121, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Your right, I heard Vick was especially cruel to the "white" dogs. That racist
- SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4which is a complete and utter lie, but look at it this way: He's basically admitted to fighting dogs and killing them purely for the enjoyment of killing them. I'm pretty sure that will land you some fairly decent jail time. Hopefully the backlash from people will get him permanently ousted from the sport. Having someone like that making millions from pro sports is a ludicrous idea. They need to ban him from ever playing pro sports again. Either that or he should be forced into the Extreme Fighting Championship. Maybe having his ass handed to him in a few "Human Fighting" events will teach him a thing or three.
- mycatsboots, on 10/10/2007, -6/+8In light of the whole Vick scandal, I read an interesting article from a Professor at Rutgers. The professor stated that what Michael Vick did was certainly wrong and not forgivable by any stretch of the means. However, we let many other "Michael Vicks" get away every day. Example one, being hunters. Many hunters kill big game strictly for sport. Michael Vick fought dogs strictly for sport. All of us who eat meat are eating an animal that suffered great pain (similar fashion the the pain the dogs faced when fighting.)
I am by no means a vegetarian, nor a anti-hunting activist, but the professor does bring up a good point. Why is it okay for us to eat animals and hunt animals for sport, but when someone fights animals that are considered "pets" animal cruelty is not okay anymore.

Even if he is suspended, the NFL won't ban him for life. Double standards in light of the Imus incident, if you ask me.
- legendxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2vick loves dogs
- cl0r0x70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Nagger?
- libertao, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Not all animals that are hunted are being done so for population control.
- Gee1004, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3He had football career and making millions. Again, why in the hell was he into the dog fighting ***** anyway. Wasn't concentrating on his football career good enough for him.Young stars are begging to get into the game out of their poverty level and this guy sets a ***** example the kids. Dog fighting, WTF.
Ban him and put him in jail for 10 years. Give - libertao, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Are you kidding? Search for slaughterhouse videos on youtube if you want to know what goes on behind the scene. It is certainly not always fast and is almost similar to torture in some ways. Maybe not small farmers you know, but it certainly goes on.
Furthermore why should the difference between killing them quickly versus killing them over several minutes be the difference between making money legally and being thrown in jail for years with your career and reputation destroyed? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It doesn't, but the population is controled none the less.
And the big difference between Randy & Vick is that Randy doesn't torture the animal.
Vick is a piece of human excrement - trimpton, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I dont know weather it is worse to take money for having dogs fight to the death or to not take money. One you are killing dogs for money the other you are doing it for the pleasure of killing dogs
- Palaceguard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Then why are you commenting in the sports section of DIGG?
- fatfinger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1spot on
- brianbb98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1it doesnt matter how rich you are, you still do stupid *****.
just like when people win the lottery.. if you cant manage it along with your life, you'lll be right back where you started, - bill121, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is the intolerence that this country has still not overcome. It pains me to see that in this day and age, people still do not accept someone's difference of opinion. Next thing you know you animal-lovers will want to give dogs the right to vote.
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4hunting controls the population since we have effectively destroyed the hunters of most animals here in America. deer for example would overrun this country if we didn't hunt them to keep the numbers down and because they would ravage farmers fields. there are plenty of valid reasons for hunting. not many for beating dogs so they are so pissed they tear each others throats out, then electrocuting them for not winning.
- xornor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affecting_our_pets/pet_overpopulation_and_ownership_statistics/hsus_pet_overpopulation_estimates.html
so you are agreeing with the parent by saying that vick is essentially helping control the overpopulation of dogs? - mycatsboots, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Fair example with the population control. However, what about Randy Hunter who goes out to find himself a five pointer with the only purpose of mounting him on his wall. I highly doubt population control crossed his mind when the buck crossed his crosshairs.
- nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2uuhhh.... either you're an ***** or being incredibly sarcastic.... I'll assume you're being sarcastic but digg you down anyways for a stupid post.
- loswr86, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2This is another instance of hypocritical white U.S. acting insane. What is the difference between watching two dogs rip each other apart, or two UFC fighters? Oh, UFC fighters get to make the choice? What is the moral difference between forcing a dog to fight (in order to profit), and enslaving a horse to pull a plow (in order to profit)? ***** YOU U.S. CITIZENS. IDIOTS. And eff your PETA BS. I digg some swine. I also digg some tofu.
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yes thats exactly what i was saying you douchebag, did you even read my comment?
- Nerotique, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2You tell me. I'm not the one who told the NAACP to get involved.
- spudmanster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2What a sick *****!. Someone should stick him in with a couple of the dogs.
- cl0r0x70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No hunter I know is intentionally cruel. In fact, they pride themselves on getting a good clean "kill shot."
The manner in which a deer is killed is far more humane than the slaughter house treatment given to cows, pigs, and chickens. And I won't even go into the treatment of veal. In short, if you oppose hunters on the basis of "animal cruelty", but then eat manufactured meat from the store/restaurant, then you are an idiot.
Also, I don't think I'm too far out of line in saying that companion animals like dogs and horses, who have been bred for millennia to trust us and even love us, should be held in the same light as wild game. - chiggah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1A rational respond to your comment would be: Because the other branches of government refuse to do *****. And people in the country are politically divided just like the government wants them to be. So if no one dares nor capable to bring charges against them, (along with a Justice department with majority Bush possies.) There isn't anything legal you can do to them. You bet Cheney knows it damn well too, He basically dares people to try him on Larry King lol.
- neozeed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Meet the next paris hilton.
Seriously, who gives a damn about these 'celebs' when everything else in the nation has gone to hell. Really get chimpy & vader out! - Subterfug, on 10/10/2007, -1/+212-18 months? He personally drowned and hung dogs that were not up to his standards.
- troyallen069, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Total Loser. Let him play with balls in prison.
- hlgriggs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Very true. It is ridiculous to hear Vick try to deny he ever bet on a dog fight. I guess he was doing it for the love of the "sport". What a turd.
- wazyfukk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1What he did ts illegal, he's pleading guilty. He already cost himself alot and deservedly so. Let him pay the penalty and move on with his life. Him and his brother both missed the boat when they grew up though. Except for little input like this I say F em they ain't worth the mind space.
- hlgriggs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I just took a *****... can you tie that in with Iraq? SERIOUSLY, this story has nothing to do with Iraq, Bush or Jesus. I'm opposed to the war but there are other concerns in life. Once again... I'm not saying Iraq isn't important but damn...
- parse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0No you're a moron. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
- summerred69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1That is the most stupid thing I've heard.Vick loves dogs.I'd hate to see what he would do to a dog he hated.I hope he gets locked up for many yrs. He's a sick individual.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Try harder
Hey pal, your wife called, she wants the sheets back. - chiggah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0NAACP 2 months ago got nothing to do with NAACP now.
I got you. Thank you for correcting me. Gosh, how can I be so stupid. - chiggah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0yes, but NAACP won't come out and speak for Tom Brady. Right?
now you tell me it has nothing to do with race. - digiguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0He was part of it. He didn't walk away and stop it
- SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1On the same note, I am an Atheist, and i have recently started a Theist Fighting organization: 'Holy Wars'. If anyone would be interested in attending one of our events, or in setting up similar events in your own area, feel free to contact me.
- nymphetamine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Nurse?
- teqnvia, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Hunting is a "sport" but the animal is used for food. Training animals to fight each other to the death as entertainment or "Killing them" for not being "tough enough" is sick and pathetic!!
If your caveman grand-daddy didn't hunt during those long winters. Your overly sensitive ass wouldn't be here. But I doubt cavemen had any use for betting on animal fights. - honeyhouston, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The truly sad part of all of this is that most likely Vick will be reinstated by the NFL once his jail time has been completed and he goes before the NFL Commissioner with his hat in his hands pleading "mea culpa".
Being "indefinitely suspended" by the NFL does not truly mean he will never play pro football again. Even though he should be hung by his balls, which is probably what he did to some of those dogs, it won't happen. What it comes down to is spelled M-O-N-E-Y, i.e., the ticket office draw for the NFL once Vick is allowed on the field again and, mark my words, he WILL play pro ball again. Maybe not with the same team, but he WILL play.
The really horrible part about all of this is the death of those dogs, however, knowing that Vick will get the equivalent of a slap on the wrist and then go back to his multimillion dollar per year income is almost as sad. - teqnvia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Hunting is a "sport" but the animal is used for food. Training animals to fight each other to the death as entertainment or "Killing them" for not being "tough enough" is sick and pethetic!
- Wilddigi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1KIlled kittens..ewww
- adaykin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Racist organizations like the NAACP don't deserve a say in this. He should be punished like anyone else would be. Having said that I think he should go to jail for at least 2 years and never be allowed to play pro football again. He will get another chance in life, just not at football.
- Palaceguard, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I always knew that football is going to the dogs.
