- slimasian, on 01/16/2009, -1/+19Good move on his part -- essentially no competition at QB this year. If he waited another year, he'd have Bradford, Tebow, and McCoy ahead of him.
- inactive, on 01/16/2009, -0/+17Tom Brady
- bblande, on 01/16/2009, -3/+17One could say he's a Dirty Sanchez.
- acknotSW, on 01/16/2009, -0/+13They were probably afraid of being drafted by detroit
- sprNmgcHlmt, on 01/16/2009, -0/+13sitting on the bench as a backup in the NFL is vastly underrated. i myself, would love it.
- tmike7223, on 01/16/2009, -2/+11an accusation is far from a conviction, you ***** tool. read up and get the real facts
- kolop1, on 01/16/2009, -0/+8I don't know why your dugg down. It's true.
- Aleman360, on 01/16/2009, -4/+12Can't blame anyone for cashing in when given the opportunity.
- PimpWilly, on 01/16/2009, -6/+13Hes only giving up his senior year of playing football, since he's graduating in may. Theres really no point in sticking around anymore, he made the right choice.
- Eldorian, on 01/16/2009, -0/+7he graduates in May - he's only giving up a year of football - not school.
- DrVic, on 01/15/2009, -12/+19Sweet, now he can rape women around the country, not just the PAC-10.
- mynameisjonas, on 01/16/2009, -0/+7he wasn't that spectacular. He had an amazing team around him, the top defense in the nation, amazing Offensive line, not to mention 3 quality tailbacks. All of that makes it a whole world easier for a quarterback to play. I think any semi-decent quarterback would've looked great in that system.
- vagrantwade, on 01/16/2009, -0/+6He would be a complete moron to stay. He is getting his degree. He will without a doubt be drafted higher this year than he would next year, thus will make a ***** more money.
So he got his education, and is taking the highest paying position. Sounds like common sense to me. - wolfing, on 01/16/2009, -0/+6nobody said he's not graduating
- Fleagleman, on 01/16/2009, -3/+9Mark Sanchez.
The next Matt Leinert. - Ocelot13, on 01/16/2009, -1/+7no one... theres was better.
Montana.. Unitas... Marino... Elway... - btour99, on 01/16/2009, -1/+7Cassell > Brady
Both are a function of Belichick's offense and the New England's offensive line.
Every time Brady gets pressure from an opposing defense, he throws an INT. Since that rarely happens, and he has 7 seconds to decide who to pass to, he looks like a great quarterback.
Hell, Dan Orlavsky would be in the hall of fame by now if he played at New England. - unrealJEDI, on 01/16/2009, -2/+8He is gonna get worked
- stevetrojanman, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5Stafford is really overrated. Look at his stats against decent teams and you'll see he doesn't show up in big games.
- gfxlonghorn, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5He could always do what Vince did, go back to school in the off season. It looks like it will pay off a lot sooner than Vince hoped haha.
- gurp13, on 01/16/2009, -4/+9Sweet, now women around the country can accuse him of sexual assault just because he's a public figure and they have a need for attention, not just in the PAC-10.
- mymagdalena1, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5Tebow isn't retarded to stay, are you serious? He has no shot at being a QB in the NFL. At least staying means they get to work on his ability to take more snaps from under center, like an actual NFL QB, unlike the 95% shotgun/5-wide offense that he's using at Florida.
- inactive, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5this is the most retarded comment i have read in a while
- tmike7223, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4i don't know if we can really say that any of those guys would be ahead of any other (at least at this point in time), but you're right it definitely a strategic move. i hope it pays off for him
- thegamingguy, on 01/16/2009, -1/+5Matt Cassel anyone?
- ScottoGato, on 01/16/2009, -6/+10Don't forget the Penn State secondary.
- jba68, on 01/16/2009, -1/+5Word
- tmike7223, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4he's earning his degree
- gfxlonghorn, on 01/16/2009, -1/+5I think its sad, in the year of the quarterbacks, that the 2 best qbs in the draft will be Harrell and Sanchez.
- subliminali, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4should the university also be required to pay back the millions in ticket/jersey/admission dollars they get off their football programs?
- Chirp08, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4Some people have obligations such as sports, or jobs, that prevent them from taking 5-6 classes every semester, it's not a reflection on their intelligence.
- cle2105, on 01/16/2009, -2/+5I agree that players should graduate before going pro, but Sanchez already graduated so I am forced to bury your comment
- sgerwel1985, on 01/16/2009, -1/+4I will agree with you on Harrell, however i think Sanchez can potentially do something. I think with his ability to move out of the pocket, so he can provide a dynamic look for whatever offense he plays for. However, if he goes to a team of early retirement (detroit) we can't really expect much. However, if he fell into Kansas City he could do something, they have a very young defense on the rise as well as a pretty strong run game (when healthy), which will help set up the PA and deep passes. This is where i feel he would be best fit... But who really knows, drafting is just a large scale gamble.
- crazydonat30, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3idiot.
- jserio, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Colin Cowherd made some good comments a few weeks back saying that if Sanchez (and/or Tebow) left for the draft they'll be on ***** teams next year because the bottom of the barrel teams (those with high picks) will need quarterbacks. If they wait another year, they will go later in the draft and be picked by some quality teams as backup QBs which will give them some time to grow. I'm by no means a football expert so I was wondering what you all think.
- crazydonat30, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3but i thought talent was a good thing....USC's offense gets the players ready for the NFL. its a pro style/west coast offense. just like the majority of the NFL's teams offenses....its like having a study guide for the big test.
- matthewinDRO, on 01/16/2009, -2/+5both soon to appear in the arena football league
- crazydonat30, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3agreed with tmike7223. we'll never know.
- inactive, on 01/16/2009, -2/+5Good. Now you left coast fools can see how truly bad Mitch Mustain is. You got him from Arkansas. Last year his Momma met with Houston Nutt to complain about how he was being treated. Can you imagine? You're momma meeting with the coach. It was too funny. Maybe in the 6th grade but college?
Any USC fans on here? What do you guys think about him? - aftern9ne, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Matt Ryan was picked for the ***** team in the league with a brand new GM and head coach.
Now he's the Rookie of the Year and led the Falcons to the playoffs. If you want the glory of the game, you have to take a chance. - fribhey, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3have fun playing for the lions.
- jba68, on 01/16/2009, -1/+4dumbass u are in america, you are guilty once accused these days.
- jba68, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Umm Carson Palmer hasnt been bad. Its just the curse of the Bengals, and that shot to the knee was killer
/not a usc fan - wendelgee2, on 01/16/2009, -2/+5and Matt Cassell started 0 and did a fine job for the Pats this season....he's no Tom Brady, but who is?
- crazydonat30, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3ugh detroit.
- yacks, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Very smart choice considering you have Tebow and others leaving next year..
- garryw, on 01/16/2009, -1/+4what? give up that women studies degree for NFL?
- krahzee, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Probably part of it, although there have been QB's drafted who have made it known that they refuse to play for a certain team and have used it to force a team to trade the pick to a team they were willing to sign with. Eli Manning forced the Chargers to trade him to the Giants & John Elway forced the Colts to trade him to Denver, for example.
Besides, Detroit or no, the money they are giving up makes it a bad choice. These guys would be set for life going at the top of the draft. Detroit being so *****, they would be a savior if they brought them close to .500 next year. Plus, depending on what other moves are made, they will have room to sign/ draft talent around them. They would be going to a team built for them. - gurp13, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3LOL! Despite being 2nd or 3rd string all year he hasn't complained nor has his "momma". Yeah, sounds like a real whiner to me.
Sour grapes must taste sour. -
