- Csaliture, on 10/28/2009, -1/+12This is part of what makes having him on the Vikings so much fun. Watching all the wisconies get so worked up about it. He is a great football player. We used to "hate" him because he leading our rival team. It had nothing to do with him per say.
As for the Madden cover, Madden is about accuracy. Changing the cover to the Jets jersey had nothing to do with dishonoring the team that made him. It was about accurately portraying his current image on the current cover of the game. Get over it.
Also, it was weeks not months later that he changed his mind about his retirement. I for one believe he was pressured into retiring because the higher ups wanted to get some new talent in there. I can understand that. But I can also understand loving the game and not wanting to stop playing. I would probably feel pretty shunned to if my team of 16 years told me to get the ***** out. What other choice did he have but to find another team. Clearly he wasnt going to play second string for the Packers. And clearly he can still play. He couldnt play for his team anymore so he found another. Sounds like sound reasoning to me.
Oh, and we kicked you ass last month and it will be even sweeter at Lambeau. Good times, good times - LinuxLiberty, on 10/28/2009, -0/+9I'm still waiting for the Browns to take revenge on the Ravens. Looks like I will be waiting for a very long time :(
- snobrder218, on 10/28/2009, -2/+8***** Brett Favre. I understand someone loves the game, but imagine you were in the shadow of some top-executive in your field. For years you sat back and let him be in the spotlight. Finally, he decides to retire, and it's your turn to take charge and shine. Then, several months later, he wants to come back and take back his old position? That would never fly in anything other than sports.
What really made me sick, is that Brett was honored by being on Madden's cover last year, sporting his 16 year teams jerseys. Then, what do people do? Photoshop him into a Jets uniform just to be "accurate". "ACCURATE"?! WHAT THE *****?! The team that made him who he was, was the Packers. Something like that is a huge slap in the fans face. Like "hey, sorry, ***** you, I never gave a ***** about the team that made me who I am".
Now he does the same *****, but comes back to the Vikings. For years, Vikings fans that I know have hated Brett. Ripped him apart all the time. Now those same people are cheering him on and loving him.
I hope the Packers destroy Brett at home. I can't wait to hear the Boos roar through Lambeau Field. - TomK, on 10/28/2009, -1/+7Coming from a Bills fan, I hate to say it, but:
Music City Miracle as revenge for The Comeback
Not an individual's revenge, per se (especially since the games spanned over 6 years) ... but to any Oiler fan who reluctantly followed their team to TN, I have to imagine the dish served in Jan '00 was as sweet as it was cold. - Victory33, on 10/28/2009, -0/+5The Colts/Pats AFC Champ game still remains one of the best (and worst at one point) football games I've ever seen. I literally could not watch the TV anymore when the Colts got down big. I didn't want to hear about how great Brady and the Pats were and watch the Colts lose at home. But Manning being Manning, he willed them back and created a historic come back. The Superbowl was an afterthought once the Colts beat the Pats.
Honorable Mention: Colts Vs. Buccaneers MNF 2003- Buc's had cut Dungy as a coach and he was now with the Colts, this was their first meeting. Tampa Bay dominated the entire first 3 quarters, Colts were down like 28 points in the 4th and came back to win. Dungy goes on win 75% of his games with the Colts and become a future Hall of Fame coach, Grunden never really regained Superbowl form. - Chaoticx, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4I, for one, can't wait to hear the silence in Lambeau from the Packer fans come the fourth quarter.
- NeonDistraction, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3My favorite part of that Monday night game against the Bucs:
Keyshawn Johnson had the live mike for that game, and at one point during the game while he was on the sidelines he started talking trash about Marvin Harrison. After Marvin had just caught a short dump-off pass, he said something to the effect of "Man, look at that. People say he's the best receiver in the league, but look how he gets his catches". That made it all the sweeter when Marvin made their secondary his bitch during their comeback.
And as a Colts fan, I will always say my favorite Super Bowl was the year after they won it, when the New York football Giants saved us all from a lifetime of hearing about the Patriot's perfect season. - Josh396, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3I don't know how this one didn't make the list.

"Washington had defeated Chicago 7-3 in a regular season game three weeks earlier. After the contest, Redskins owner George Preston Marshall told reporters that the Bears were crybabies and quitters when the going got tough. As the Bears prepared for the rematch, Chicago head coach George Halas fired up his team by showing them newspaper articles of Marshall's comments."
The Bears go on to win the championship game 73-0. At one point late in the game, so many balls had been kicked into the stands that the refs asked Coach Halas to go for 2 after each touchdown so they could finish the game. - vsujohn2, on 10/28/2009, -0/+2Well, this one might be interesting....
Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons on Dec 6th of this year.
Michael Vick returns to the place where he was once loved and adored.
The Eagles havent been using him much in the playbook, but it would still be interesting to see... - Poochyfud, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Just seeing the phrase "Cal Ripken in pinstripes" makes me want to vomit.
- greggoodwin, on 10/28/2009, -0/+2Aren't we supposed to be boycotting SI on Digg due to their shady PR and bribery activities?
- keithschricker, on 11/20/2009, -0/+1 CONGRADULATIONS TO MINNESOTA FOR GETTING THE FIRST QUARTERBACK WITH THE POSSIBILITY TO GET THEM TO THE PROMISED LAND.
MAYBE THOMPSON, MURPHY AND MCCARTHY WILL GET OUT OF TOWN AT THE END OF THE SEASON. - swantamer, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1Story has way too much of a modern day bias. He threw in a couple of games from the way past but, considering that players in the 40's 50's & 60's probably were a lot more hardcore and motivated I'd guess that the REAL list would be mayb two games from the pat 15 yrs and the rest from pre-1994.
- jshhmr, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1But it's a free subscription! Don't forget to go to SI.com!
/s - Chrysalii, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1The first game of the next season Buffalo beat Tennessee.
...and that was Buffalo's last playoff game to date. Hasn't been a good decade to be a Bills fan. - Gregus1032, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1I feel that Chad Pennington's revenge game should have been higher. Last game of the regular season and a win meant they would win the division, thus getting into the playoffs. Pennington not only beat the Jets, he straight up out-played Brett Favre, the "Legend" that took his job.
- Jowsley, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1MNF 12/18/2000. Rams at Bucs, the year after the Rams bounced the Bucs out of NFC championship game on the B.S. Burt Emanual instant replay overturn (which lead to what is known as "the Burt Emanual rule"). One of the best finnishes to a game I've ever seen. I still have the 'Revenge' magnet they were handing out at the gate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bert_Emanuel - vsujohn2, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1Well he took Atlanta to the NFC championship game, and for Atlanta that's a pretty big deal. Then he got hurt, finally came back but couldn't salvage the season. Then the dogfighting crap. This matchup is intriguing because it represents the old falcon vs the new. Our entire revamping was based around getting new players in and flushing out the old (and associated with Vick)
- Gregus1032, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1"was once loved and adored" maybe for a season and a half...
Didn't they boo him off the field and he retaliated with a good high class bird flipping toward the end of his Atlanta career?
I still don't know why so many people thought he was a great QB. His arm, while powerful, was horrendously inaccurate and made terrible throwing decisions. He was very elusive and had good ball carrier vision, but thats about it. - lichnor, on 10/29/2009, -1/+1Farve is to Montana as Staying Too Long is to You Suck.
- keithschricker, on 11/20/2009, -1/+1 I was so glad to see McCarthy, Murphy and Thompson get their just due. They wanted him gone, they squeezed him out and he shows the mistake they made.
If Rogers was as good as we were told we should have another Lombardi trophy for the collection... Rogers is better on paper but he does not know how to get the line pulling together in the same direction and he just can not get it done.
Congradulations to Minnesota for their wise choice in quarterbacks and enjoy your first super bowl in... O yeah EVER. - Ultra200, on 10/29/2009, -1/+1Packers will kick the queens asses on Nov 1st
Real Men Don't Wear Purple!!!!!!!! - oo7evan, on 10/29/2009, -1/+1Get over it.
- rerato, on 10/29/2009, -2/+2If you call GB not having an O line and not putting any pressure on Favre as kicking ass, then sure. But in reality GB kicked their own ass. Granted, I don't feel the situation has much improved, but the Viqueens hardly kicked ass that game, the Packers just decided not to show up.
- MRintheKeys, on 10/29/2009, -1/+0I'm not a Packers fan, or a Vikings fan. But without any hesitation I can say "F*CK BRETT FAVRE AND HIS PRIMADONNA ATTITUDE. YOU'LL ALWAYS BEEN REMEMBER FOR THROWING MOST INTERCEPTIONS OF ALL TIME" I mean really, the guy has won as many Super Bowls as the legendary Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypein, and Trent Dilfer.
