- BiggPapi, on 01/22/2009, -3/+23where's Hines Ward?
- inactive, on 01/22/2009, -0/+16Shout outs to Andre Johnson. He almost never gets any love but he's been one of the best for a while now.
- pudds, on 01/22/2009, -0/+11Um...buried as 2 months old?
- orangefly, on 01/22/2009, -0/+8where's braylon edwards....???....oh....he dropped the phone when they called....
- TomK88, on 01/22/2009, -0/+8Steve Slaton? What are you talking about? He's a rookie RB for the Texans.
- reddevild, on 01/22/2009, -0/+8I think he means Santonio Holmes
- broncfan23, on 01/22/2009, -0/+7Brandon Marshall will emerge to be a top 5 receiver over the next couple years.
- tEhKewleSt, on 01/22/2009, -0/+5Article is from 12/18/2008 - A little outdated considering the regular season wasn't over and the playoffs hadn't started yet.
- instigator24, on 01/22/2009, -1/+5It's almost the Super Bowl and this article only covers the first 14 games. Can we get some new news on the front page please?
- SirFoxx, on 01/22/2009, -0/+4He should have been in the top 10 on this list. Terrell Owens? You've got to be ***** kidding me, picking this has-been over Marshall.
- emptyo, on 01/22/2009, -0/+4I wondered where 86 was as well. All he does is move the chains and score touchdowns. And is the best blocking receiver in the league. Weird.
- Nintendesert, on 01/22/2009, -0/+3I'm surprised "BREAKING!!!" isn't in the title.
- neverender, on 01/22/2009, -1/+4no Hines? list is fail.
He is headed to his second Superbowl. He was Superbowl MVP after his first visit three years ago.Is the leading receiver in Steeler history. Has at least two receptions in every playoff game. 4 times selected to the Pro Bowl. Lays down blocks like a truck. Most importantly he is out there having fun and always manages to make big plays when his number is called.
I'd take Hines Ward over any of those receivers on that list anyday. - shakabrah, on 01/22/2009, -0/+3wow. just wow.
- hudy23, on 01/22/2009, -1/+3thats what i said, how do you make it to the big game and not be on the top ten?
buried - FlippityFlipz, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2He's on there. Rightfully so. That guy can catch a cold in a sterilized room
- TjLAXattack, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2I am wearing my Hines Ward jersey right now, with a tie on underneath. Had to get special approval to wear Steelers gear, despite the stuffy dress code here. Not sure if I can keep it up and keep my clothes semi-clean through all of next week as well.
- LegomanArt, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2I'm a big fan of Ward as well but let's note that the list was made December 18th 2008. All of those Superbowl comments are rather moot.
- du1834, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2This article worries more about stats than results. Ward means as much to his team as any WR on this list because of all of the other things he does. I wouldn't place him in the Top 5 but I'd put him in the Top 10. As far as I'm concerned he can take TO or Moss's place. TO is the opposite of Ward - he is faster and catches more balls but most everything he does aside from catching the ball is a liability.
- TjLAXattack, on 01/22/2009, -1/+3This looks like someone just listed out the WR with the best stats of the season. I think there should be a little more to the list, taking in consideration who is throwing them the ball and what they're able to do after the catch. Also, who is a stellar blocker, team player, and playmaker.
For instance, I think Anquan Boldin is ranked way too high on this list and while he had a great season, I'm not sure he has the staying power of some of the others on the list. Also, Reggie Wayne has some lucky catches and games where he contributed nothing. I'd rather see a reliable wideout versus a flashy, occasional playmaker. - zzzpoohzzz, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2too bad theyre gonna get shut down come february 1st!
- TheBigBad, on 01/22/2009, -1/+3And all of those guys except Boldin and Fitz will be home watching the SB on TV. There should be more to the list than simple stats.
- commiecat, on 01/22/2009, -1/+3I don't think Roddy White should be ahead of Randy Moss, or TO be ahead of Reggie Wayne. My top 5 would be A. Johnson, R. Moss, Fitzgerald, Boldin and Wayne. Calvin could be raw in another year or two. Steve Smith is definitely top-10 but he's undersized compared to the five I listed. TO is overrated.
- cloudcity, on 01/22/2009, -0/+2If was starting a team with any of these players, I'll take Calvin Johnson any day of the week. The Lions are SO bad that his talents are wasted there. Size, speed, and hands - he could be the best in the league with a decent QB (which Kitna can be sometimes).
Plus, his nickname is freakin' MEGATRON!!!!!! - sgerwel1985, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1I guess this is a good list if you're just basing it off yardage and receptions... There are a lot of great receivers in the league who don't get a look because of 1) age, 2) in a run first offense. Hines Ward in my opinion is much more valuable than most the people on this list.
- NumberFour, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1Wrong, Calvin Johnson's teammate, Roy Williams, was traded to the Cowboys for a 1st and a 3rd.
- crsturdivant, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Calvin Johnson is way too low on that list. He's on the Lions for crying out loud, and he managed to put up those stats? Unbelievable. He should have at least been 3rd or 4th. The guy is a beast.
- kevL0CK, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Randy Moss isn't exactly the way he used to be...
I think Roddy deserves to be ahead of him, at least for this season's list. - TwoKill, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1There are so many reasons to bury this... so here we go
T.O. Should not be on the list
Anyone watching the playoffs knows Fitzgerald is the best receiver in the NFL
Hines Ward (2006 super bowl mvp) is not on the list
The honorable mentions are a joke (pretty much all of them)
And finally the list is from over a month ago - lastelement0, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Even so, the regular season might as well have been over. It was the final weeks of the regular season and unless a team is in a big situation where star players need to play, they won't so any stats gained during those weeks likely wouldn't affect much anyway.
Same goes for the playoffs, you can't use those stats to claim a receiver is better than someone who didn't make it for whatever reason. - monarch00, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Lee Evans?
- mingohills, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1I think someone missed their deadline. We are looking at a Super Bowl and he is writing about "two weeks left in the season."
- Dubbsacc, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Glad to see Fitzgerald and Boldin on there.
- lastelement0, on 01/22/2009, -0/+11.) Randy Moss wasn't playing as well as he was compared to last year.
2.) T.O. causes more problems than he makes big plays.
So as I see it Roddy White deserves to be ahead of them and Moss and T.O. are in their proper spots on that list.
Kudos to Andre for his big season this year. - TomK88, on 01/22/2009, -1/+2Roddy White doesn't beat up teammates in practice though...
- souljaboytellem, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1What spot is he?
- devfeed, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1Nice indeed. Not for me, definitely http://homemasters.info
- Chirp08, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Imagine if this was the Top 10 post-season NFL receivers...
- voodoochild461, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1T.O. would throw a fit if he knew he was #9
- tEhKewleSt, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1I guess, but with the 3 TD catches that Fitzgerald had against Philly, you can make a pretty good case for him being the number one receiver just because he was so clutch in the playoffs.
- leeznon, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1I'm changing my top 10, i wasnt thinking when i wrote my last list
10. Greg Jennings (2nd best after the catch)
9. Plaxico Burress (stupid dude but a great WR)
8. Hines Ward (highest 3rd down conversion percentage when throw too: 64%)
7. Rodney White (amazing all around skills)
6. Anquan Boldin (best short yardage WR and best in traffic)
5. Randy Moss (best vertical and deep threat)
4. Steve Smith (if he was 6' 4 he'd be the best WR of all time. underrated blocker)
3. Larry Fitzgerald (best hands)
2. Calvin Johnson (when defenses play lions they double team him every play, doesnt stop him)
1. Andre Johnson (hands down the BEST. most athletic, 2nd best hands, best route runner) - zzzpoohzzz, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1like ***** hasn't been frontpaged that was 5 years old...
- LegomanArt, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Derrick Mason didn't even get an honorable mention. Not that this necessarily surprises me...
- anizzle, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1Well, I guess you could look at it like that. But, you could also look at it like, if any of the 10 played on the Steelers they probably equally as clutch if not more clutch (because they are all better receivers) and their stats would probably be a lot better.
- BiggPapi, on 01/23/2009, -0/+1its current players... not players of all time
- Zookelif, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1WTF....No Jerry Rice?
- jordangush, on 01/25/2009, -0/+010- Hines Ward (expert at the dirty work of a WR)
9- Chad Johnson (one bad season ***** hes a great player hes not happy with the bengals similar to how Randy Moss hated it in Oak)
8- Calvin Johnson
7- T.O. (guarantee T.O. will be working his ass of this offseason and move up this list)
6- Roddy White
5- Anquan Boldin
4- Steve Smith
3- Randy Moss
2- Andre Johnson
1- Larry FItzgerald (***** if anyone has been watching the playoffs lately you would know he is number 1) - Gurmo, on 01/22/2009, -2/+2I think anyone who watches the NFC South knows without a doubt that Steve Smith is the best receiver in the division, not that Roddy White isn't excellent he just doesn't compare to Smith. Everyone finally got to see in the playoffs this year just how horrible Jake Delhomme was this year in the playoffs, fact is Steve Smith has for years now made him look like a quality NFL starter, despite having balls constantly thrown behind him and into double coverage. Otherwise good list.
