- BrownManUPS, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6If Tony Dungy retires, I think everyone will remember him as a class act.
- drewski526, on 01/05/2009, -1/+6you can say pussy, this is the internet.
- yacks, on 01/05/2009, -1/+6I just wish Lerner will stay away from the Belichick Coaching Tree... it sucks! If only he can choose from the Marty Coaching Tree.. the same tree that Cowher fell from and the last success Cleveland saw was when Marty was still here..
- dylansbeard1, on 01/05/2009, -0/+4Dear Mike Brown,
Please hire a ***** GM!!!!
Sincerely,
bengals fan. - 1kewldude, on 01/05/2009, -1/+5There should be one other coaching vacancy but the owners of the Bucs are p*ssy whipped over Jon Gruden even though local fans want a new coach - #'s don't lie - he's not an offensive genius nor can he win games in December or the playoffs - but yet he's about to hire his brother to join the coaching staff so we here in Tampa can look forward to another sucky year with Chucky.
- Takfam, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3As a Chiefs fan, seeing Carl Peterson and his "5 year, no, 10 year, no, 20 year" plan get shown the door was the greatest thing I've seen happen to the organization.
Next I want to see Gunther Cunningham and his Cover 2 ***** out of Arrowhead. - JD52, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3As long as I don't have to hear from Mangina anymore I'm a happy camper.
- AllHereTruth, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Please god. Childress (Minnesota) is the worst coach.
Did anyone see him on the sideline before halftime explain to another coach why he called a pass play: he said "i DIDNT KNOW they had a timeout left"
That is bad coaching. He is a bad coach. - freefoodisgood, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2eh..John Elway was there too.
- fauxbro, on 01/05/2009, -0/+2A good fit for 2010 would be Cowher in Minnesota. Hard nose Defense, solid running game, and no QB. Just like the years in Pittsburg with Tommy Maddox, Neil O'Donnell and Kordell "Slash" Stewart. Please get rid of Brad Childress
- CoronaVegas, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Or Mike Shanahan!
Heck, look what he did when he had a decent running back (Terrell Davis & 2 Superbowls). - s0ny, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1uhhh, your retarded.
And unfortunately your your San Diego Super Sucksters, getting into the playoffs just earned you another year with Norv Turner! Congratulations!!! - system5y, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1come on, you can make a point in less text than that
- TheCoolestNerd, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1Haha, i have a good friend thats a viking fan, watching that game with him was pure pleasure.
- lewystud, on 01/05/2009, -1/+2calling all good coaches to the Rams...please...
- Vulphaestion, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Didn't the Chargers fire Marty when San Diego went 14-2?
- yacks, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1You are incorrect on the Origins of Belichick. He did not come from the Marty Tree.. He was never the Defensive Coordinator at Cleveland.. He came from being the Giants Defensive Coordinator to become the Browns Head Coach. Belichick is a coach off the Parcells tree.
As much as Marty had trouble with finishing seasons... I have more faith in pupils off of his tree than Belichick's.. One coach's follies does not mean he's not a good mentor of others that can. See Bill Cowher or Tony Dungy(also ala Chuck Noll) - charlesray, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2Jon Gruden won the Super Bowl you ***** tool.
- UnpossibIe, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Gruden won the bowl after inheriting Dungy's defense, you ***** tool. He sucks almost as much as you suck *****.
- AllHereTruth, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1In the second half Jackson had NO time to throw the ball. Every dropback he had 2-3 guys in his face.
That being said we haven't had a QB, who could play, in 8 years. Or a coach for that matter...God it sucks being a Vikes fan - smacksaw, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Don't be a Seahawks fan. Know something about the situation of other teams.
Barrett Robbins was the center for the Raiders. He had severe mental issues and self-destructed during Super Bowl week. The Raiders were already a mess going into that game, but the distraction he caused and the lack of continuity for the o-line blocking schemes simply ruined the Raiders chances of winning.
When you are playing a MONTE KIFFIN (not Dungy defense, Unpossible - Dungy was compatible with Kiffin's defense, he didn't invent it) defense, you need a flawless execution from your blockers. The Raiders who were very good in that regard fell apart.
So, to add to what Unpossible said, which is that Gruden simply inherited Dungy's team, they also played a totally devastated Raiders team who were not prepared to play.
Gruden, who is supposedly an offense guy is the one who left the Raiders, remember? The Raiders were running HIS ***** offense. So if you think about it, Gruden loses doubly.
The Raiders were running a Gruden offense and could not beat the Bucs. The Bucs were not yet running Gruden's offense as they were in disarray. Dungy was fired because he kept firing his offensive coordinator. - MetropolisFLC, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1absolutely terrible, and to think that they'd even consider letting go of Leslie Frazier is a travesty. Fire childy, promote frazier, and invest in a real QB.
- smacksaw, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1I think Shanahan could/will coach the Chargers. That's why he hasn't moved yet. This article was really good - very insightful.
Were I the Chargers, I would go after Cowher. I'd make him GM/coach, emphasis on being the GM. Then, I would hire Brian Billick as the offensive coordinator with a mutual option after 1 year so he could get a head coaching job. I would have Brian call the plays. Then, if Marvin Lewis or Herm Edwards get fired, I would hire them to run the defense under the same deal.
The Chargers need to win now and they need experienced coordinators. Cowher can attract a lot of talent. He's brought many coaches through the ranks from under him. I don't think he should actually be calling plays. He should be motivating people and making personnel decisions. I think that a lot of these disgraced head coaches could get back on their feet under him with the Chargers and then parlay that success into a head coaching job after one year.
If none of that works out, I think I'd call Rex Ryan. - thegamingguy, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1You could probably have Bobby Petrino for a few games if you wanted /sarcasm
- smacksaw, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2Whoa whoa whoa...hang on.
That's like saying "Boy, I really hope Jeb Bush will run for president because George W. Bush sucked."
Get the analogy? They're both branches of the George Bush Sr. tree.
My mouth is agape. Just where exactly do you think Belichick came from? HE COMES FROM THE MARTY TREE. Remember, when Marty coached the Browns, Belichick was his defensive coordinator. Bill took over Marty's job. And Cowher was an assistant in the Marty tree.
As a Steeler fan, I would like to point out that we should have won at least 3 Super Bowls under Cowher's tenure. Marty and his ilk have one problem. They cannot close out games. I think about Denver and San Diego advancing against us and the sheer luck we had to advance against the Colts. Elway, Humphries, Harbaugh...no matter how good or mediocre they were, they all had a chance to close us out and did, save Harbaugh. Elway did it to Marty in Cleveland, too.
Think about Charger fans during Marty's tenure. They all complained that Marty didn't know how to close out a game. He let teams back in. He was being classy. Whatever. The guy does not know how to keep the other team off the scoreboard at the end of the game. And his coaching offspring never learned it, either. Think about Belichick's first loss to the Packers.
The only difference is last year, Bill piled on the points. Why? Because he doesn't know how to manage a game, so he blows people out. I will give Bill credit because he learned there was a problem with closing games out. The Pats could probably have another 2 Super Bowls if he were a better game manager.
Every single descendant of Marty, whether it's offense or defense is an excellent game-planner, motivator and student of the game. And none of them have even the slightest clue how to manage the ebb and flow of a game or to close it out.
The Bills (Cowher and Belichick) didn't win because they evolved. The Seahawks were a ***** joke and Holmgren was simply a bigger choke than Cowher. He met his choke-job match. That's why Holmgren beat Belichick. Belichick was a bigger choke artist at the time. The two Bills won because of luck, a good kicker, etc.
You know who WON Super Bowls? Mike Shanahan. Jimmy Johnson. Chuck Noll.
Anyway, I can't believe you think that the Belichick coaching tree (which has the only real success) is worse than the Marty tree. - blaxicopurress, on 01/06/2009, -0/+0if pioli arrives in kansas city, your dreams will probably come true.
- kenedamick, on 01/05/2009, -3/+2As long as Herm Edwards and his clown staff get fired I'll be happy.
- OutpostNetwork, on 01/05/2009, -2/+1"4. Cleveland Browns: Lerner hasn't learned"
No kidding. Give us a break! Get someone in there that can win for a change. - elryanoo, on 01/05/2009, -1/+0Wonder if Shanahan will be making bitter beer faces in Seattle.
- fauxbro, on 01/06/2009, -3/+1A class act yes...but great coach no.
