As soon as the guy went down he knew he had screwed up. I would really like to see a follow up interview to find out wtf he was thinking. The only logical explanation is that he was high on something and just saw the a scary movie and was tackling the monster. Man I wouldn't want to go back to the sideline after that play.

    Soccer in Europe is called football, which spawned Rugby Football when some crazy dude picked up the ball and ran with it. Rugby Football gave rise to American Football. But we don't call it American Rugby Football. We just call it football.
    Balls do not have to be spheres. Rugby players do not play with eggs. Not to mention that there are more balls on a single rugby or american football player than all you pansy soccer players combined.
    Additionally, why does foot have to refer to how you pass the ball? Basketball should be called handball then. Or maybe football should be called goalball. Tennis should be called racquetball as should racquetball... f*** confusion. Golf should be called stickball. Badminton should be called racquetcock.
    Come to think of it, by your logic, table tennis must mean that people use tables to pass tenisses from person to person. Next time I go for a jog I'll remind myself that I'm really going for a footperson.
    You pretentious clowns think every sport must comply with the conventions of soccer. Sorry that most sports have more inspired names than objectyoushootwith-objectyoushoot.

  • jserio, on 11/02/2009, -0/+10If you watch the slow-motion replay at the end, you will see that the ball returner (the person running with the ball) was tackled (knocked down) by his own teammate as opposed to the opponent. Hence a fail.
