- DarthMacgyver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Hmm...I don't think Ray Lewis broke the curse. From WikiPedia
"Broke wrist and missed Pro Bowl; Critically seen as an off year; team missed playoffs after losing Wild Card Playoff in 2003" - BAKER, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9CAvenger
"Madden 2005 featured Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens. He had an injury that kept him out of the last game of the regular season. It was also Lewis' first season without a single interception, after posting a career-high 6 the previous year. The Baltimore Ravens also failed to make the playoffs that season (2004), after winning their division the year before. Furthermore, in week 6 the following year, Ray Lewis' season was ended by an injury."
- wikipedia - MakinBacon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10EA Sports: "Hey Peyton, Peyton Manning... how'd you like to be on the cover of Madden's 2008 video game?"
Manning: "Go ***** yourself!" - K-Flow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9man i was really hoping he would break this curse.
carson palmer, never go on maddens cover please - DarthMacgyver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, I have Shaun Alexander in my Fantasy league. (took him with the 1st pick) "I said F-Madden, someone has to break the curse". Well Madden just bit me in the arse, and it hurts.
This sucks, he is a good player, but Madden really needs to stop putting players on the cover and get his ugly mug back on there.
Here is some more on the Madden Curse.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madden_curse - Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I hope Ben Rothelisburcantspellhisname is on the cover next year.
- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ever heard the guy talk?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Wont they ever learn? This happens EVERY year to the Madden cover guy.
- SlackerCSB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Do you idiots really think you're better off with Alexander out of the line-up?
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Rothlisberger was out earlier this season with an appendectomy. What would you want next? Tonsillitis?
- abucada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3uh @ SvnX
although I'm with your post in spirit you have one blaring mistake...the bears Defense allowed the lions to score on their first possession of the second half 2 Sundays ago...
green bay didn't score a TD, and the Vikings TD was scored by their defense...the lions however did get an offenseive touchdown... - shadowsword232, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I'm a seahawks fan so this sucks
- imnsi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There goes my fantasy team! Hopefully the other guys in my league don't read this, please bury this article lol.
- SvnX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2point taken
:( Damn those Fox News guys...they get it wrong...I get it wrong....
But....still impressive!
Look out Ceaatttlllle...dang..umm...errr...Seattle...yeah..that's it... - abucada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2actually there are 5...and they are called metatarsals...I broke my 2nd metatarsal in my right foot (bone connected to the toe next to the big toe) in High School...
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The description is inaccurate and sensational. He is not out indefinitely, he is out for a few weeks. It even says that in the article as well as the local news here in Seattle.
FTA: "...and will be lost to the Seahawks for at least a couple of weeks."
Not that it's going to help, but I'm marking this as inaccurate. - kodak543, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2he's going to be out only for a couple of weeks, he has a cracked bone in his foot NOT a broken foot
- decay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Run to digg for fantasy advice !
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I also have Alexander on my Fantasy team yet I found he hasn't been posting that many points for me this season. I sat him out this week and it was definitely the right decision. I'm not too upset about the loss, but I do feel bad that the voodoo got to him.
- CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- CTRLALTDLT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Peyton Manning would be a true test to the curse 8 seasons in a row without missing a game.
- slimdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This curse is getting progressively worse every year, just like the Madden games.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There goes my fantasy team...Oh Well...
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5its ok, we will be fine against chicago, he should be back in time for the super bowl!
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1but Turducken's are good...
- skunkman62, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3nice to see that i am not alone
- persaltier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, what's with the 'indefinite' *****. He's out for a few weeks while the bone heals.
- jarinudom, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1How come Madden is not affected by the curse??
- mV0G7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is crazy! Seven years now!
- MatthewDuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Next year on the cover I hope they have Carson Palmer giving Rothlesburger a titty-twister. Go BROWNS!!
- Porkinsred6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the way madden cut that turducken was amazing. with his bare hands..... to this day i cant shake the image. he is a hero!
- LordHalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm glad I took Larry Johnson in my Fantasy. But Shaun has been great on the XBox360 game.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1your team is better now because ONE of our best players is out...thats sad.
- HCJfilms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe it's not a curse... Maybe football is just a sport where A LOT of dudes get hurt.
- sldSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Peyton better get on the cover, after those annoying as hell Sprint commercials.
- ludditus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Perhaps Madden should put himself on the cover. Then we might be spared the agony of listening to him call games. Although the world certainly has him to thank for our familiarity with Turducken.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Eddie George didn't get hurt. He just didn't perform well. And I thought Ray Lewis didn't get hurt until next season. I think curses are a bunch of bull.
- Kbennett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1As a Bears fan, I can't help but be a little sad to hear this. ;)
- Razqel, on 08/13/2008, -0/+0It's a statistical phenomenon known as "regression toward the mean."
Briefly stated: your performance fluctuates. Amazing performance one year will be accompanied by less remarkable performance the next, and vice versa. - Lazyboy0172, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the past couple years i been wanting peyton manning on the cover... now im kinda glad he never made it.
- joerod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ray Lewis never got hurt and he was on the cover.
- jabbar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1a cracked foot bone is a broken foot. there is no ONE "foot" bone. go look at an xray.
- BillyIsCool, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0haha happens every year rofl
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I know you were all worked up because you think you know statistics but please remember to spell check.
It's Seattle, idiot. - bjw229, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0If you are curious about more information on the curse or all the players involved and how it all went down check out
http://slicky.wordpress.com/ - unloud, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Because curses are a bunch of bull. It's football; people get hurt all of the time.
- echo1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1HAH! I look like a ***** genius now that i'm kicking ass after i took LT over BOTH Shaun and LJ.
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6alexander has been damn useless... his touchdowns are all 1 or 3 yard goalines which mack strong can easily do. plus he'll never be as good as he was in 04 or 05.
we'll be fine with morrice morris, who can actually break for 25 yards once or twice a game. - bkool, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2bury
- SvnX, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6You'll be FINE against Chicago? Yeah...maybe next year! Chicago hasn't let up NOT ONE offensive TD in 3 games. The Seahawks only hope is if Rex dosent have a good game. But then again if that happens who's to say Thomas Jones won't FINALLY wake up and break a 100 yard game? Oh...and dare I say...what if Chicago's Defense decides it's time to score touchdowns of their own! What a game...
