- STBAT25, on 04/24/2009, -0/+24Ryan Leaf deserves the biggest bust because not only did he suck but he was an egotistical *****.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -1/+21AKILI SMITH DAVID KLINGLER KI-JANA CARTER CAPS LOCK
- bigthree, on 04/24/2009, -1/+18As a die hard Jets fan there are too many busts to count..Lam Jones, Browning Nagel, Blair Thomas, Dwayne Robertson, not taking Warren Sapp! I am gonna be sick
- RunDiggMC, on 04/24/2009, -0/+15Many fans ridicule players who become drafts busts, but it's not their fault for being overrated. I'd happily sign with the Lions and be known as the worst pick in NFL history if it meant a $25 million in guaranteed money. Hell, I'd settle for $24 million.
- Ronster23, on 04/24/2009, -0/+13Ryan Leaf is a GOD....among the losers!
- meruru, on 04/24/2009, -0/+13I don't care what anyone says; Caps Lock was a great football player
- rwbrinso, on 04/24/2009, -2/+15Hey, for once, the Lions get a "FTW."
- jejones, on 04/24/2009, -1/+12Huh? I wouldn't have thought breast size important in the context of the NFL draft.
- DirtyBinLV, on 04/24/2009, -1/+12In Indianapolis, there were a lot of people who were very pissed off that the Colts picked Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf. They were just sure that the Colts had blown it once again.
- Zippo, on 04/24/2009, -0/+11Buried for misleading title... I demand busty cheerleaders. :(
- zacharytelschow, on 04/24/2009, -0/+11Tony. Mandarich.
- AmyVernon, on 04/24/2009, -0/+9Seriously - they could have made a "Biggest Busts in Jets Draft History" list.
- drmangrum, on 04/24/2009, -0/+9I wax expecting something totally different. If a title is going to contain the words "Biggest Busts," there should be boobies.
- badenglishihave, on 04/24/2009, -3/+12Does Michael Vick count?
- athinnes, on 10/01/2009, -0/+8The Bengals draft history is pathetic.
- ManUnitdFan, on 04/24/2009, -1/+9I can't speak for other teams, but I don't think David Terrell was the biggest bust for Chicago. Cade McNown is pretty much the consensus choice amongst Bear fans.
- rwbrinso, on 04/24/2009, -0/+7No doubt McNown is just awful, but look at those receivers taken after Terrell. And then look at what the Bears have lacked in terms of being able to do anything on offense the past few years.
- flashingcurser, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6Did they really forget Brian Bozworth? Did they really? Not only was he a bust, we was a giant douchebag.
- FreddieD, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6When reporters each asked Peyton and Leaf what they were going to do the day after the draft, Peyton gave some media-friendly answer about working with teammates and the organization, while Leaf said he was going to party for 24 hours straight in Vegas.
Shouldn't that have been a little bit of a red flag?? - johnwiz, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6any bears quarterback
- tpmidd, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6hahaha
17. Jets: Blair Thomas - 2nd overall, 1990
Thomas was a running back out of Penn State who amassed 2,236 yards in his career. Emmitt Smith, the next running back selected (sixteen picks later) on the other hand ... yeeeeah. - hoju1123, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6You are absolutely right Ryan Leaf is the biggest bust ever. I think this guy wrote this in like 5 minutes Ricky Williams wasn't a bust the Saints just gave up too much for him. I don't know too many backs with 1,800 rushing yard in season that are a "busts". Oh and no Brian Bosworth WTF!!!!!
- DrewBledsoe, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5Three pro-bowls by the age of 26- doesn't sound like a bust to me.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5Todd Marinovich, not only was he a complete bust, he turned out to be a douche and a punk.
- Psk497, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5How about a video instead?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZxNeFLuY98 - cyoder, on 04/24/2009, -1/+6I don't think it's terribly fair to blame them for passing on Andre Johnson. Johnson was indeed a highly-touted receiving prospect coming out of Miami, but Rogers was the reigning Biletnikoff winner and arguably the top receiver in the draft. The reason a player is a bust is because they fail to live up to expectations, but if teams could really detect that probability of failure, they wouldn't be drafting these players in the first place.
- ditka354, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5Rashan Salaam
- jedinate, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5Eugene Chung ? C'mon no one in New England remembers him. I dare say more people think Maroney is on the verge of bust. He was supposed to be our feature back for the next 6-8 years, instead he is constantly injured or dancing around open holes.
- er0c77, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5Curtis Enis
- cyoder, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4There should always be boobies, regardless of title.
- Gr1nch, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4At least the Bengals have picks to draft with. The Redskins trade every draft pick away before the draft like its got herpes.
- ethanator1088, on 04/24/2009, -1/+5Great post. The worst part of NFL draft day is that there is a zero percent chance of a Stephen A Smith Cheeto sighting.
- bossm4n, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4A huge flaming douchebag. This is the guys who actually wrote letters to NFL teams stating that if they drafted him, he wouldn't show up to their training camps. Then he sued the league because he wanted to wear the #44, and lost.
- FreddieD, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4What I remember most about Cade McNown is that it was the first popular use of someone getting a domain name and building a web site with the sole intention of lobbying to get rid of someone (tradecade.com). Now those damn things are everywhere.
- pinchduck, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4I was at the game when Ki-Jana Carter got his knee torn up. It was a pre-season game against the Lions. I don't know that it is fair to lay the blame for the bust completely on him, it's hard to play when your moneymakers are ripped apart. Contrast him with Joey Harrington or Charles Waters. Joey was probably screwed up by the coaches here in Detroit, and Charles had bones of glass and the work ethic of an ocean sponge.
- tyscott, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4Rick Mirer is what scares me about Sanchez possibly going to Seattle. Leaf is just a bonus to that.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -1/+5I still feel kind of bad for Ron Dayne. His body size and strength say he should be at least a good running back, but he's mediocre at best.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3But he also played for Denver, where he never was very good either. And their line was excellent at the time.
- tmeaster, on 04/24/2009, -1/+4Not only that year, but then Edge over Rickey Williams the next year. What a disaster Leaf and Williams would have been in the same backfield.
- Jakeman21co, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3All of the Bronco's pics on the defensive side of the ball in the last 2 years
- Makaras, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Yeah, I remember beeing like 12 when the Colt's were debating between the two, and about crapped my pants when a month before the draft when everyone was saying that it was gonna be Leaf over Manning (At the time I didn't know that the last month leading to the draft, it is every team's job in the NFL to put out as much flase information as possible).
- rillo561, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Die hard Jets fan here too, always get nervous around this time of year.
- Raz0rEdge, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3..only if the title stopped at those 2 words and didn't also include NFL!
- bblande, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3The title is completely misleading, in all seriousness. It says "The Biggest Busts in NFL Draft History." The NFL Draft began in 1936. This article only goes back to 1983, ignoring the previous 47 years.
Buried for this, and not including former Browns pick Mike Junkin, a far bigger bust than Couch. - sboan, on 04/24/2009, -1/+4Get this, KC Chiefs Draft QB Todd Blackledge in 1983, turns out to be a bust. They passed up drafting Dan Marino, and arguably the best QB in NFL history, John Elway.
Todd Blackledge= Biggest draft bust - du1834, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Yes, Bosworth should have been listed as one of the top busts in history regardless of team.
- frequentFlyer, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Leinhardt for the Cardinals. Can't stand that hollywood whiny brat. What a waste of a Heisman trophy. I was so happy when my Horns beat his ass.
- madisonskyline, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3As I Spartan myself, it's impressive to see Michigan State representin on this. Rodgers, Underwood, and I think you definitely have to throw Mandarich in that mix. Wow, this makes me not, feel good at all. *****.
- FattJesus, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3You can soon add Matthew Stafford to that list if the Lions take him. No quarterback is ever successful here. I really hope to be pleasantly surprised tomorrow and see the Lions take Jason Smith or Aaron Curry, but knowing this organization, I'm not holding my breath.
- rmad1949, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Thank you, flashingcurser - Seahawks Brian "the 37 million dollar man" Bosworth is the bottom feeder for this teams history. A true disappointment outside of the QB position and it is a looong history of disappointment. Ground Chuck... I thought I once saw Dave Craig's sister at the QB for one game... gawd it is a long list of WTF!!
