- slickrocktrail, on 01/29/2009, -0/+46Actually they met when Kurt rescued them. Brenda and her child were trapped on the third story of a burning building. Kurt was walking by after working at the store, saw them and ran to the window. He said, "toss the child to me". She said, "I can't do that." He said, "I have great hands and I am a pro prospect football player." She tossed him the baby. She escaped as well. The crowd went nuts and Kurt, caught in the moment, spiked the baby and yelled, "touchdown". True story.
- serif69, on 01/29/2009, -0/+21I think it's cute that they have the same haircut.

"OMG I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY MAKE THIS STORY ANY BETTER?
Both Brenda and Kurt are active born-again Christians."

I hate those freaking emails. - RumpleForeskin3, on 01/29/2009, -2/+14Not as good as that little ditty about Jack and Diane
- protogenxl, on 01/29/2009, -0/+12I prefer the story about billy joe and bobbie sue.
- envytown, on 01/29/2009, -1/+13Mostly true with some literary license taken:

Still a good story.. - IHaveIssues, on 01/29/2009, -1/+11Why can't it be an inspiring story without the requirement of spirituality?
- UltimateFerg, on 01/29/2009, -0/+9FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW:
- fadetoone, on 01/29/2009, -1/+10Because it's completely asinine in context with the rest of the story.
- chieflbm, on 01/29/2009, -0/+9FSM weeps
- IHaveIssues, on 01/29/2009, -1/+9There no need to mention their beliefs for the story to be good.
- gaqua, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7You know you don't have to sign your comments, right? There's a little thing right to the left of this box that shows who posted it. It's kind of redundant and pretty annoying.
- twiztidsinz, on 01/29/2009, -2/+9I prefer the ditty about Jack and Diane.
Two American kids growing up,
In the heartland. - Drakk0n, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7Somehow this reminds me of Rocky..
Warner makes it to the NFL well that's Rocky I
Winning Superbowl XXXIV was like Rocky II
Defeat in Superbowl XXXVI, like he was in Rocky III
Now he's up against Steelers in Superbowl XLIII - the iron curtain reference is all to strong - is this Rocky IV? - hydrodev, on 01/29/2009, -1/+8Opened the page, saw the pic, read the first 3 words, became disinterested, back button, wrote this comment.
- Bic823, on 01/29/2009, -2/+8I think it was more directed at the fact that instead of just being an inspiring story we're all supposed to get some sort of spiritual message out of it, regardless of the belief system we adhere to.
- isorfir, on 01/29/2009, -2/+7"Both Brenda and Kurt are active born-again Christians."
Until they are deactivated from the Borg hive mind. - serif69, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5Gina works the diner all day.
- jordanlgta, on 01/29/2009, -1/+6What's with her hair?
- AmyVernon, on 01/28/2009, -1/+6Seriously; why make up a story that's not as good as the real thing?
- gaqua, on 01/29/2009, -1/+6As an Atheist, I personally don't care that they're born again Christians. But I'm one of those Atheists who doesn't care if everyone else is one, too. My theory: if being a Born Again Christian works for them - great! It's not my thing, but more power to them.
- lpferris, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5Jack and Diane are too clean cut. They make me want to vomit.
Billy Joe and Bobbie Sue, however, are bad ass. - enotswhat, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5Susan Powter?
- Rally603, on 01/29/2009, -1/+5and then moved in with his auntie and uncle in bel-air

I'd like to hear how the verse about suicide bombing the NCP goes - russ3, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3She looks like the hot whale trainer from Free Willy.
- Aedonr, on 01/29/2009, -2/+5This story was great until....
"Both Brenda and Kurt are active born-again Christians."
What does this have anything to do with their ability to make rational decisions based on empathy and moral codes? We are human. We have instinctual good vs bad instilled in our very DNA. He stayed with her family because he loved them, not because some GOD told him to do so. He made that choice by himself. She made the choice to love him back. To let him into her life. To learn to trust someone to help her take care care of her previous children. They persevered because thats the type of people THEY are not because they belong to some religious organization...
To imply that this story was somehow enhanced by their religious beliefs scares me.
-Aedonr - courbple, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Edgerin James.
- FlippityFlipz, on 01/29/2009, -3/+5Aw, sweet romance back in the day. If that happened today the guy would use facebook first to stalk the girl. Friend request after friend request gets rejected. He writes her a message, "hey baby you're hot." No response. The guy thinks the girl is ignoring him. Little does he know her computer is broken and she's on vacation. He questions his image, his personality. He hits the bottle and comes up with a plan. The next day he uses ChaCha to find the girl's address based on her posted phone number on facebook. Drives to the girls house with some sort of makeshift shank. Rings the bell. BAM! The old fork in the eye.
Next day I go to digg.com. Headline, "distraught teen murders crush with homemade weapon"
But Kurt's story is more touching, I guess - CDoug03, on 01/29/2009, -2/+4Morale of the Story: Not all Football players are *****, just most of them.
Yes, I finished the article, he still is a pretty good guy. - zuiquan, on 01/29/2009, -1/+3Buried for glurge *****. Barf.

I prefer the story of Duck and Nora. - jeffwmartin, on 01/29/2009, -1/+2As a Titans fan, I heard this story enough during Super Bowl XXXIV, I sure as hell don't want to read it again. I'm sure the media is happy they can get on their knees and suck Kurt's ***** some more. It's been 9 years since they've done it.
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -1/+2Thanks for pointing that out. I agree. The real story is much better.
