- snagra, on 11/20/2008, -3/+22Let them prove themselves over time.
- JulioHJ, on 11/20/2008, -0/+13nice to see jerry rice and john taylor make this list....they are usually an underrated tandem.
- Shadow250, on 11/20/2008, -8/+20Yeah where is Fitzgerald and Boldin, they definitely belong on that list.
- smrekar, on 11/20/2008, -0/+11No Ditka/Ditka? He is the best tandem. I would have also accepted Chuck Norris/His Roundhouse.
- iSamurai, on 11/19/2008, -4/+15Boy I love sports illustrated's lists with 10 separate pages to click through!
- hugopolsky, on 11/20/2008, -3/+12Screw that, Randy Moss and Chris Carter were for sure number 1.
- mikeevegas, on 11/20/2008, -0/+9Taylor/Rice should have been #1.
- brown2hm, on 11/20/2008, -1/+8I wonder why the Art Monk / Gary Clark combo was left off? Of course that wasn't really a duo because Ricky Sanders was always grouped with them too.
- sfcaptainrob, on 11/20/2008, -1/+8Boy I love people who complain about people who complain!
- GramarNazi, on 11/20/2008, -4/+10Boy I love the inevitable complaints about multi-page lists!
- thegamingguy, on 11/19/2008, -5/+10Do Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper belong on there?
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5pfft, they've been together five years, this is their best year together, but not like the rest of these guys
- joebagodonuts, on 11/20/2008, -2/+7No
- credential101, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald will be in the top 3 in 10 years if they stay together.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4they weren't together long enough, Carter was in the twilight of his career
- CerMakAlot, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4I agree. Not only were they a dominant tandem, in 1998 the vikings went 15-1, set the record for most points in a season (556) and were part of one of the greatest offenses ever.
And the best reason? This ESPN the magazine commercial: http://www.bballx.com/moss/video/98ESPNrocket_com. ... - sfcaptainrob, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3DA bears.
- sikulas, on 11/20/2008, -2/+5What no Herman Moore and Brett Perriman? The Lions are crap now, but the run-and-shoot was prolific. They're the first duo to both top 100 catches in a season.
- Zephyr618, on 11/20/2008, -3/+6Dugg for the Steelers :)
- smrekar, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3This year it is Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal or Larry Fitz and Q Boldin.
- pointsguy, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3Usually underrated? They're arguably the best duo.
- MikeDirntRulez, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2I am a Cowboys fan myself... however I am a realist:
You listed a CB (sometimes WR), QB, RB, and a TE.
The only WR you mentioned was Alvin Harper. Who comes nowhere close to anybody mentioned in this article. Michael Irvin was good, don't get me wrong, but not legendary.
In my opinion Cris Carter and Randy Moss should be higher. I really wish Carter would have stayed in football and Moss didn't go to the Raiders. I lost all respect for him and his work ethic, even though he kicks ass on the Pats now. - sfcaptainrob, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2I thought for sure they would make this list and kept waiting for them to pop up...but no. Not even an honorable mention.
- lupka, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3This is their 5th year together, which is longer than several of the tandems on that list.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3no...that's like listing te top 5 classic motorcycles and putting the newer japanese model of motorcycle in there
- SCscoutguy, on 11/20/2008, -5/+7This list is a total failure without having Sterling Sharpe and Robert Brooks on it. At Green Bay they were unstoppable with Farve chucking the ball to them.
- jayaresea, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Robert Brooks topped 648 yards twice in his career. And had more than 7 TDs once. Unstoppable!
- pixelate, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2I can't find a sports site that includes a statistic for "percentage nursed back to health by Gisele Bündchen".
Still, you have to figure the numbers are pretty good. - Tim101010, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2Boldin & Fitzgerald??
- xneversaydie, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2thunder and lightning.....
go jags! - TheGreatBelow, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2Cris Carter & Randy Moss > *
- MikeDirntRulez, on 11/20/2008, -0/+2I would be an awesome receiver if I had Brady throwing to me too.
Moss hasn't shown much this year except for that awesome catch against the Jets - thh204, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3people are digging you down because they have no argument against you.
- GramarNazi, on 11/20/2008, -1/+3Boy I love people who complain about people who complain about people!
- jason210, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2let them win something first.
- tensaibaka, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1That was a pretty good list, but as a Seattle Seahawks fan it's sad to remember that they never found another receiver to help out Steve Largent. Worse yet, Largent never even got a chance to play in the SuperBowl like most of the guys on this list. Back in the day we didn't have much, but at least we could count on Steve Largent making a catch every single week. Also, didn't the Packers have a good tandem with Freeman and somebody else back in the late 90's?
- smrekar, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Further, Breaston is a beast. triple threat.
- 4t0mik, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Those two referred to were Harper and Irvin. Irvin is IN the HALL of FAME.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Irvin
Irvin and Harper almost won 3 superbowls in a row....and all supporting cast memebers of the Offense I listed (expect Harper) were Hall of Famers.
I think Taylor/Rice were the top followed by Moss and Carter...but Carter and Moss....won how many superbowls together?
One?
It's hard to ignore 2 players who combined on offesne that almost one 3 in a row.... - Qwert302, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1I think at the time they had the most yards for a duo as well (not sure if it's still true). Quite shocking that they didn't make the list.
- gkiltz, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Art Monk and Gary Clark of the Washington Redskins BELONG on that list!
Just becaue Art Monk won't toot his own horn, he gets left out again! Sad! - eavesdrop, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1They are one of the best combinations. But this is a receiving tandem.
Lofton & Reed equals to murder.
Good choice SI. - jedijain, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1first qb to have 400 yards passing, 3 tds, and 60 yards rushing in a game
nahh youre right his numbers arent big - benbriggs, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Anyone saying Moss and Welker should be on the list is being buried, bury me too.
But come on, one leads league in catches and another sets the single-season record for TD catches in the same season. Talk about spreading the defense. Not to mention that Welker still has great numbers with a subpar QB like Cassel... - bca102, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1It's only been two years. And they aren't even the best duo in the NFL this year.
- RabidAngel, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1I guess it's fandom. I'm no Arizona fan. I just respect the skill of players on all teams, when it deserves recognition. Oh, well. *shrug*
It doesn't change the fact that Fitz and Boldin are phenomenal receivers. - Jackson0909, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1@denshvalaunt
This isn't 2008's best receiving duo. - rynosaur, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Hate to get Raider Nation, but Biletnikoff and Branch weren't too shabby. Houshdoyomamma and Ocho Cinco haven't been too bad.
- JezusGhoti, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1If they stay on the Cardinals for the next few years, there is no doubt they will one day be on that list.
- 4t0mik, on 11/20/2008, -1/+2Yes they do. They combined for what...2 superbowl wins and almost a 3 peat!
Get out of here you Cowboy haters. Like it or not...those years were all around great...as Deon Sanders, Troy Aikman, Emitt Smith, Jay Novacek those two recievers....were almost all HALL of famers....well expect Harper himself...as he fell hard after being traded.
Hate don't make you better....:-P - edm1950, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Meh, the Marks bros. were good but they never won the big one, the Marlin Brisco/Paul Warfield combo got the job done twice.
