- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -2/+31Hell of a 4th quarter...
- AmyVernon, on 01/06/2009, -6/+29Dammit!!!
Sincerely, a Big 10 grad. - bignerd, on 01/06/2009, -8/+28Awesome game. Colt McCoy proved he should have won The Heisman. Let's see what Oklahoma does against Florida. It's gonna suck losing Quan Cosby but the scary thing is that Texas is returning all of their major players except Cosby. Texas = #1 in the nation, in my book!
On the flip side, if Terrell Pryor gets his QB mechanics down, he is going to be freakin' DANGEROUS!
Great game guys!!! Hook Em Horns!! - turnthepage, on 01/06/2009, -13/+27I liked the part where McCoy threw the touchdown pass to Cosby.
- arial, on 01/06/2009, -2/+14Great game tonight. OSU fought hard and never let up even when they were down! However I'm glad Texas came out on top the way they did no mater how pissed I was a few mins earlier.
- superkeer, on 01/06/2009, -2/+10Wasn't really a blown coverage as much as just the absolute worst coverage to call in that situation. Only one safety back?
I would say Texas survived by the mere inches they got on the 4th down earlier. To be a clear #1 or #2 you can't be in a position to need that extra inch on fourth down to survive against an OSU team that most likely would have been crushed by USC, OU, and the Gators. - infinigtr, on 01/06/2009, -6/+13Technically Ohio State is still better because, according to Texas fans, last second wins don't count.
- bigdoof, on 01/06/2009, -6/+13I can see an argument for USC, but Texas? They just barely been an anemic Big 10 team that didn't even win their conference. Not only that, they needed a last minute drive that essentially relied on a fluke blown coverage...
- hawksfan03, on 01/06/2009, -3/+10i think utah would have something to say about the #1 claim by Texas
- zacharytelschow, on 01/06/2009, -0/+7Thank God the Big Ten wasn't humiliated in yet another big game.
- Yegger, on 01/06/2009, -5/+11boo
- saucypony, on 01/06/2009, -1/+7I'd love to see Pryor on team that ran the 'wildcat' consistently! He can certainly run, catch, and (sort of) throw the ball haha...hell of an athlete, that's for sure.
- bossm4n, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6Watch football much? Ever hear of forward progress? That was the right call and was even contested and the call upheld by instant replay.
- Munky, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5I actually think Colt was more or less calm the whole game. The pass at the end of the first half was simply crap, though.
Even as a Longhorn fan and alum, I have to agree that our boys did not earn a spot in the BCS title game. Even going back to the '05 championship year, we have had too many games against quality opponents where we just barely won. Last night's game was a perfect example. If we were really the best team in the nation, we shouldn't have needed the last minute heroics that have apparently become part of our game plan.
In this day and age, you have to light up your opponents to have a convincing victory, which is why you see Florida and OU in the title game.
That said, I am proud of our boys pulling out the win *and* beating OU this year. Beating the Sooners is only slightly less satisfying than winning the whole enchilada.
On a side note, if we can get some maturity in our secondary (mainly at safety), then I think things will look up to make another run at it next year. - protonone, on 01/06/2009, -22/+27***** Ohio State.
- smacksaw, on 01/06/2009, -1/+6This game was good, but it made Utah look all the more impressive. There were some sloppy moments. Top-ranked teams should control games, not bumble through them.
- fcruz1331, on 01/06/2009, -3/+7It hurts to be a big 10 fan...
- Brasky, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Actually I think they got screwed out of a couple feet, but they still gave them the first down they earned.
- Super0ne, on 01/06/2009, -3/+7This is Laughable "Friday morning I'm going to vote Texas No. 1 because I think this is the best team in the country," said Longhorn coach Mack Brown. "We knew our guys had a tremendous amount of pressure on them and they just didn't quit. It doesn't get any better than to come from behind and win."
Seriously?
Horrible Defense, Horrible Running Game, Barely beating Ohio State with a Freshman QB.
Top 10 yes, #1 NO WAY - hawksfan03, on 01/06/2009, -2/+6I agree. Utah and USC would both beat Texas right now, imo
- offroadchickee, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Great game - I was on the edge of my seat for the entire 4th quarter!
- Brasky, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4This is why you guys suck. You dont think it would have been great if your BCS teams would have played better, you just wish you could have just played some lesser teams... Way to aim high there.
- ThreeE, on 01/06/2009, -4/+745-35 says that UT is better than ou.
- DeviantDragon, on 01/06/2009, -4/+7This was quite a weak showing to be crowing on about being the real number one, Mack Brown. Not much of an achievement to scrape out a 3 pt. win over an overrated Ohio State which has consistently been underperforming in the postseason.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Worse than that was the ruffing the passer call that basically assured Texas the TD on the next play.
- ljmunz, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Cincinnati
- hawksfan03, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3as a hawkeye fan and someone who hates ohio state. terrelle pryor is really really good.
Also, Quan Cosby is highly underrated as well - Natron9, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3No, I don't see anyone here denying that Texas lost to Tech.
- swik, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2They are a different team, but they still have the same average defense (which is way above what the average is in the big 12). They were locked in a tight race all game which was just pathetic. Nobody with a right mind who follows college football thought OSU belonged anywhere close to a BCS game so it was joke from the beginning. The fact that the game came down to the final 30 seconds is just sad.
You don't think OSU was amped for USC? At the end this season will show how terrible the BCS system is.
The Heisman winner will have lost to the two other finalists (a complete injustice in and of itself that someone wins this year based on stats alone when Colt Brennan didn't win it last year), a truly great team had no chance from the beginning of the season to get to play in the national championship because their team wasn't good 40 years ago, OSU got to play in a BCS game because their team WAS good 40 years ago, and Oklahoma gets completely overrated because they play in a conference with horrible defense and somehow gets to play in the National Championship over Texas/Texas Tech due to a completely broken system.
With a playoff system we'd have a real championship game and get to have a chance to see Florida, Utah, or USC playing in the championship game, because it's clear no Big 12 team would be able to survive the gauntlet. - MothBoy, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4Yeah, but remember Texas was gutsy enough to schedule heavyweights like Florida Atlantic (114), UTEP(99), Arkansas (78) and Rice (63) to go along with conference heavyweights like Texas A&M (93) and Baylor (64).
You have to give them a break for making it through a murderers row like that unscathed. - gree0732, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2As a Sooner fan and overall Big 12 supporter it's nice to see UT pull off a close win. It makes our conference look a little better after the Oklahoma State and Texas Tech losses. Pryor could be a huge player in the future for Ohio State if he can pass more efficiently and control his attitude. Lastly, I'm hoping for a great football game on Thursday!
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4Is there a site i could watch bowl game replays?
- Pic0, on 01/06/2009, -10/+12Hook 'em!
- Pic0, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4The first half was boring yes but it got better when Texas started to play.
- NnyCW, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Hulu seems to have a number of them online.
- MothBoy, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Apparently you STILL haven't heard of Utah?
Utah is the only undefeated team in the country.
Utah beat up on the #4 Crimson Tide team which had lost a close game to Florida or it would have finished #1.
Utah's conference was 6-1 against the PAC-10 this year.
Texas needed a favorable spot on 4th down to enable a last gasp TD to beat a 2-loss #10 OSU which had already been beaten handily by Penn St. and destroyed by USC.
Colt McCoy's "we feel like we could beat anybody right now" doesn't carry much impact relative to the way Utah and USC crushed opponents superior to OSU in their bowl games. - v3locity, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2OSU is a completely different team with beanie and terrelle. Not the same OSU that got destroyed by USC.
Terrelle Pryor is fire.
I'm glad you recognize Texas as the best team from the Big 12. They definitely did not play their best but it was still enough to beat OSU. - hawksfan03, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3You're joking right?
Utah beat Oregon State (9-4), TCU (11-2), BYU (10-3), and Alabama (12-2) this year. All quality teams. - CommanderEFG, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4So much for Texas "destroying" Ohio State. The way both teams played last night was pretty bland up until the end and showed me Texas had no reason to go the title game. Remember they where literally inches away from losing to OSU,
- ShoeSh1ne, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3UGA was never for real to begin with.
- CrixMaydine, on 01/06/2009, -8/+10Hook 'em!
- jordanlgta, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2No Natron9, but you cannot deny the possibility that many fans of Texas have said that about their loss to Texas Tech. If it's convenient to someone's argument, they'll say it. That goes for any subject.
- gaapgod, on 01/06/2009, -3/+5Except for that retarded interception he threw on the goal line.
Also, that's what UGA said last year. - spiderbaby138, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3How can you be allowed to vote for your own team?
........
"Friday morning I'm going to vote Texas No. 1 because I think this is the best team in the country," said Longhorn coach Mack Brown.

http://www.entertonement.com/clips/25073/The-Unive ... - RyanBlueThunder, on 01/06/2009, -4/+6Utah hadn't played anyone all season. USC was blownout against a weak Oregon State team. Texas beat the current #2 (then #1) and lost on the road at the last second to the then #7 team in the nation. On quality wins and strength of loss, Texas beats USC.
For the regular season means anything, the national championship should not be a power ranking (i.e., who looks the best right now) but the cumulative accomplishments of a team's season. People saying USC "looks better" are acting like a championship should be based on a power ranking. Also, I hate to break it to the SC homers, but Texas actually rushed for more yards last night then USC in the Rose Bowl. They also passed for more yards. Sure, the Texas defense gave up huge yards to the rush (with Pryor making plays they hadn't seen before and raking up 80 yards on the ground), but they bent and did not break. - bignerd, on 01/07/2009, -1/+3Hope you not an "Okies" fan, cuz if you were, you would have realized that Texas beat the "Okies"!
- circa1015, on 01/06/2009, -6/+7Texas Fight!
- MothBoy, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Texas lost to Tech, so they didn't "do what it takes to win" and by your own definition aren't a champion. That honor (again, by your definition) must go to Utah.
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -0/+1That's the MAC's job.
