- riseinhell, on 03/08/2009, -0/+25The Bills needed this. When they were busy going 7-9 each of the last 3 seasons, no one in the locker room seemed the care that they were losing. I could use seeing TO bitching a little after a loss.
Plus, he's a guy who can take the pressure off Lee Evans. None of the #2 receivers could do that the last few seasons, so Evans was always in double coverage and couldn't make any plays. - bwishey, on 03/08/2009, -1/+25BUFFALOL!
- infamousjr, on 03/08/2009, -9/+32From: Dallas
To: Buffalo
Subject: T.O.
You can have him.
Thanks. - Wreckage, on 03/08/2009, -3/+15$9 million to not play in Dallas + $6.5 million to play in Buffalo = $15.5 million just for this season.
- oiooioio, on 03/08/2009, -3/+13I feel sorry for Buffalo .... good luck, heh
- smacksaw, on 03/08/2009, -1/+10If this was 2008, it's probably a great move. If this team is the same as in 2008, it's still a great move. The main reason this team collapsed in the middle of a playoff race was because of lack of desire and execution. There were so many games I saw that the offense just stalled and could not make any plays.
Even if I concede that TO's skills have diminished (they have not), the fact he is out there takes pressure off of Trent Edwards and get Evans and Reed some much-needed single coverage. Also, Marshawn Lynch has shown that given some open field in front of him he can make plays happen. TO stretches the field and draws a safety and CB to him, making it harder for opposing teams to get a bunch of guys in the box and stop Lynch and bump the other WRs off the line.
This is a very good team who could have easily been in Miami's place in the playoffs had they just been able to sustain. With TO, he will be a cancer and they fall apart like they were going to do anyway or he will bring it and put them over the top. No risk.
Also, I will add that Mark Schlereth and these guys on ESPN are in the middle of a TO hate-fest. The reporting on this is terrible as they are not saying what I am saying, which is basic, mechanical X's and O's and it's their obligation to talk about how he impacts schemes. They are not psychologists nor are they in his head. Skip Bayless might be right, he is Team Obliterator. But that comes later. - DeskFlyer, on 03/08/2009, -2/+10I can't stand Terrell Owens simply for his inability to display any degree of humility at all.
- utopianfoe, on 03/08/2009, -3/+10WTF?
- DeskFlyer, on 03/08/2009, -0/+7So the fact that he doesn't delve into the life that other athletes do (which is highly doubtful) makes him a prince? Avoiding everything illegal doesn't make you immune from being a douchebag.
And what is with your last quote?
"Outside of football, I have never heard anything but good things about the guy."
WTF does that mean? The guy is all football, nothing else. What does that tell you? What the hell else has he accomplished that deserves anyone else's immediate attention? (Hint - nothing) - FSkip, on 03/08/2009, -0/+7Makes a lot of sense... T.O. to T.O. (in a couple of years anyway). Go Toronto Bills.
- firstyear7d, on 03/08/2009, -1/+8too bad this guy isn't throwing to him -
http://dailysportscard.com/content/1987-topps-jim- ... - LogitechG15, on 03/08/2009, -0/+7Here's how his stay at Buffalo will go.
1. He gets there surrounded by a huge amount of controversy.
2. The first 4-8 games are absolutely great. The team is praising T.O. for lifting their spirits and ESPN isn't flaming him.
3. Eventually however, T.O. goes back to being a d-bag since he can't go a whole season without doing so.
4. They make it to the play offs but at this point his douche baggery level is so high that it does more harm than good.
5. Cut - doobiebrother, on 03/08/2009, -0/+6THAT'S MY QUARTERBACK...
- deadsenator, on 03/08/2009, -0/+5Really? What seats will they have?
- kemp34, on 03/08/2009, -0/+5I definitely did not expect TO to go to Buffalo. Nice signing for them though.
- asgardshill, on 03/08/2009, -1/+6Terrell Owens = locker room poison. The Bills are going to regret this acquisition.
- ShugNinx21, on 03/08/2009, -0/+5Come on it's not like the Cowboys regret....
hmmmm...
Well the Eagles...
wait...
I think the Ravens wanted him....
0.O
Well the 49ers should have kept him...
Or did they know something everyone else didn't back then... - hobojohnn, on 03/08/2009, -0/+5AFC East just got a bit more interesting.
- agentsrecord, on 03/08/2009, -0/+5That's a complete asshat comment... but I laughed my ass off at it. Well met.
- FriedSperm, on 03/08/2009, -0/+4Then T.O. should have his own locker room. One for the Bills, one for the opponent, and one for T.O.
Problem solved. - aN1G, on 03/08/2009, -0/+4T.O. and trent edwards will put up great numbers..but, T.O. is going to eat him alive in the process...
- crazzy88ss, on 03/08/2009, -0/+4Interesting that it's only 1 year. They probably don't want to be stuck w/ him for a while if he screws up.
- deema1, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3Oh. I'm sure this will go well.
- seastobble, on 03/08/2009, -1/+4Good riddance.
- Natru3al, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3Dear Cowboys fans,
We told you so.
Sincerely,
An Eagles fan.
P.S. You still suck. - cptaixel, on 03/09/2009, -0/+3From: Buffalo
To: Dallas
Subject: T.O.
Please take him back. Please,
If not, can you at least send us a damn manual with instructions on how to activate the mute feature?
Either way, we're leaving you negative feedback.
Harumph. - compulsive1, on 03/08/2009, -1/+4Mark my words. Bills are going to the Superbowl this year (season).
- llopez1223, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3Dugg for speaking truthfully about Mark Schlereth and the NFL live gang.
The man is obsessed with "teams winning championships," yet when he won a 2 championships with the broncos, he was part of the same team that violated the Salary Cap and a team that was "juiced." - inactive, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3They have diminished, I don't care that Romo wasn't in for the majority of the time. I watched every Cowboys game and the majority of the time TO couldn't create separation from defenders off the line, at all. He doesn't block on running plays so Lynch better not run to the slot. He is now a possession receiver, (which is stretching it to say the least with his horrible hands now, he drops more balls than an inner city animal shelter) and he's no Jerry Rice, so he's not going to have a good season. Justify it all you want. His career is in its twilight hours.
- ShugNinx21, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3That's not much better because he will play well and they will love him for it and talk about how he's changed n all, then sign him to a big long term deal...
Then his antics will start again. - joncannon, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3It's been an interesting last few years in the AFC East:
2007: Randy Moss to Patriots
2008: Brett Favre to Jets, Chad Pennington to Dolphins
2009: Terrell Owens to Bills - llopez1223, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3As much as I hate T.O. I hate the guys at NFL live, who kept saying over and over again that no one wanted him and that Rosenhaus was just a liar like Boras. By the way Mark Schlareth is a hater of all AFC west teams except the Broncos, and all NFC East teams except the Redskins. I'm just sayin.
- smacksaw, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2He was a hell of a player...fun to watch, but I can't stand listening to him or Hasselbeck. I feel sorry for Tim, though. He has to listen to Schlereth at work all day and then Elisabeth when he gets home. I'm amazed he hasn't blown his brains out yet.
- TheInformer, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Well, this will be team #4 that Owens has disrupted.
- inactive, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2maybe he'll take some more sleeping pills...
- Mufaka, on 03/08/2009, -0/+22 days to get a 1 year 6.5 million contract. Not too bad if you ask me. It's surprising that he jumped at what must have been the first offer though considering who his agent is.
- Natru3al, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Won't really matter he is in the same division as the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets. The bills are still the lesser of those teams w/owens. The only reason they brought TO there was to sell tickets and create hype. Now there are more networks willing to put the Bills on prime time b/c they are waiting for him to meltdown again.
- DaMaker, on 03/08/2009, -1/+3As a Bills fan I couldn't agree with you more. At this point all we can go is up. We just need that catalyst, and I hate to say it but TO could be just that. I give props to Ralph, he finally made a non-conservative move. Hey, and if it backfires we only have to deal with the scumbag for a year.
- Daryl209, on 03/08/2009, -2/+4The 49ers are still gonna win some games.
Screw T.O., we dont need em. Good luck with him Buffalo. - vspazv, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2He always does great the first year. It's the second year he keeps ***** up.
- agentsrecord, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Trent Edwards, if he can stay healthy, might be able to use this to his advantage. Lynch is a great ground weapon that can take the heat off the passing game. If Edwards can begin connecting with Owens, you could see some explosive plays coming out of Buffalo this year.
- AxemRed, on 03/08/2009, -2/+4I don't see how this will help the Bills. The Cowboys could not come through when they had a good quarterback throwing to TO. Why would the Bills be any better than 7-9 again with a mediocre quarterback who gets hurt every season throwing to TO?
- sgerwel1985, on 03/09/2009, -0/+1This is a great move for the Bills. While some really hate T.O., I am not one to hate on him that much. This is a top 5 WR in the league and a true competitor, plus getting him for 6.5mil is one hell of a deal. While i think his competitive nature shows the worst of T.O. (at times), this is a guy who will bring some added motivation in that locker-room, and most importantly on the field. T.O is that perfect compliment to the team.
- agentsrecord, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1That's my team!
- Natru3al, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1What was funny to me is when he was with the 49ers and he called Jeff Garcia gay lol and he said that snapping his neck with carmex all on his lips. Have you seen Garcia's wife? She is smoking if that is gay sign me up. He also called Garcia a weak armed QB which is true but in that system a big arm isn't needed.
- Reddog_x2000, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1I seem to recall a player for the Eagles being quoted (anonymously)as saying that the Eagles would rather lose without T.O. than win with him. If that's the case in Dallas as well, he'd be the last guy I'd want to sign.
- deadsenator, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1Maybe. It's not like Buffalo couldn't use some piss and vinegar and there's a chance it could work. If the mix is good and they start winning, then it'll be okay for the season, but if they start losing too much...well, we've seen that show before.
We'll see just how much losing T.O. takes before he turns it into his own brand of cancerous poison. - Gndoab, on 03/08/2009, -1/+2would be funny if it was a bills cowboys superbowl this year...
- deadsenator, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1The answer for the 9ers is complicated, but doesn't include T.O.
The short answer is Holmgren for GM. The current guys don't have a clue.
The latest example was dumping Martz, and pronouncing your intentions to make a smash mouth running team, then talking to Warner (even though that was just Warner taunting AZ for more $). The 9ers gleefully allowed the dog and pony show to be put on and will be wheeling in the clown shortly. - gkiltz, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1Sooo, that's only what, 27 teams that he hasn't played for!
This guy's the next Jeff George! Million-dollar talent, five cent head!
At least he's in the second-smallest market in the NFL, and on a team that has had the winning seasons it's going to have! -
