- Shaggy3, on 01/19/2009, -2/+43Hopefully McGahee is alright, he sure did get hit hard. Severe neck pain is never a good thing.
- Halokhan, on 01/19/2009, -9/+42PITTSBURGH GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!! HERE WE GO!!
- supermanly, on 01/19/2009, -2/+30What I liked was how all the analysts and commentators said "Oh, Flacco's won two playoff games on the road; he's no longer a rookie." And when Polamalu sealed the deal with the interception for a touchdown, the commentators said something along the lines of, "Polamalu and Reed are both great at their positions; the difference tonight was on who they faced. Reed faced a veteran quarterback, and Polamalu faced a rookie."
Make up your minds.
I have nothing against Flacco, just against the commentators. - dweast, on 01/19/2009, -9/+34GO STEELERS!
- nikpappagiorgio, on 01/19/2009, -0/+23Vid of the hit:

- rupprupp29, on 01/19/2009, -0/+18For Ray Lewis and the Ravens, this loss has to cut like a knife. (Sorry, no Ray-Lewis-being-a-murderer pun intended)
But really, I'm sure Baltimore would love another stab at the Steelers. That game was a dagger to their Super Bowl hopes.
Crap... did it agian. Better go before I cut someone deep. - smacksaw, on 01/19/2009, -14/+32Stealers?
Ok...moving along...
Troy Polamalu should be illegal.
I am so glad he's on my side. It's time to give props. First to Troy. All we heard all week was Ed Reed. Ed is awesome, but Troy is the best, period. In that vein, all we heard was about Baltimore's awesome defense, ignoring the fact that ours was better. But whatever. There's talk and then there's results. We got the results.
McGahee is a great guy. I hope he's ok. The Ravens are our greatest foe and I have nothing but respect for them, even if they don't always return it to us. They got Ward out of the game, but the karma was bad for them with McGahee. It was a chippy game by the Ravens. Poor tackling, cheap shots and the O-line being totally lost led to their downfall. It was surely a winnable game for the Ravens if they had just kept it clean or tackled and finished plays. That's got to be disappointing.
I feel fortunate to have won. It was a good game, but I think the Ravens could have done better. - Ninjasoldat, on 01/19/2009, -0/+16I feel kind of feel bad for the eagles...
they lose so many NFC championships. - hawkdude56, on 01/19/2009, -2/+17Here's hoping McGahee turns out okay... that hit was vicious.
Pittsburgh deserved this victory, they were simply the better (and healthier) team.
I look forward to a great Super Bowl! - ReDoEr, on 01/19/2009, -2/+17buried on behalf of the entire Steelers Nation
- rupprupp29, on 01/19/2009, -1/+152 great defenses, which neutralized the run on either side. It came down to QB play, and tonight Big Ben was MUCH better than Flacco.
Go Steelers! Here comes the longest 2 weeks of the year :( - TheBigBad, on 01/19/2009, -9/+20Go Stillers!!!! Beat the birds!!!!
- Ninjasoldat, on 01/19/2009, -1/+12People said they didn't stand a chance against the falcons...
...Or the panthers...
....Or eagles....
And yet, the Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl. - podalirius, on 01/19/2009, -1/+12That was sarcastic right? Did you see the "roughing the kicker" call against the Ravens?
- emptyo, on 01/19/2009, -2/+12You're a tool. Check your facts first...the Steelers playoff and championship games are consistently the highest rated in the league. Steelers Nation is strong, plentiful, and proud.
- odweeds, on 01/19/2009, -5/+15I got a feeling Pittsburgh going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!
- roflmaololstorm, on 01/19/2009, -0/+9DID you see the 6-point pass interference call? I don't deny the roughing the kicker call was wrong, but it was defintely a make-up call for that fire PI call
- swik, on 01/19/2009, -0/+9Ravens won how many games last year? Now they end up one game short of the Superbowl with a rookie QB, if you're a Ravens fan things could be a lot worse.
- bpd115, on 01/19/2009, -0/+7Watch closer the hit was clean. Clark lead with his shoulder and Willis lowered his head which caused the helmet to helmet.
- poopdigger, on 01/19/2009, -0/+7Both teams have great defenses. I think the Ravens were a bit more beat up, they've been starting injured players every week. Ed Reed and Troy have different roles on defense, and both do very well. If you have a dream team- you put Reed at FS and Polamalu at SS- no questions.
The real game-winner was at QB. Flacco has a lot of potential, the analysts love him, but he's definitely still a rookie. Big Ben made the plays when he needed to for the Steelers, but when the game went on Flacco's shoulder he started throwing picks. - patpl22391, on 01/19/2009, -21/+28GO CARDINALS!
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -0/+7i love sports rivalries. especially how *most* react when the other team gets injured. Props to the Steelers fans. Nothing better than them cheering as he was leaving. I just wish he gave a thumbs up. I hope hes ok. The Steelers fan realize its just a game and they reacted graciously. Especially when Big Ben went over and made sure hes ok.
- donut726, on 01/19/2009, -1/+8people said the same thing about the Giants last year
- legendxx, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6You think Baltimore would bring more viewers than the Steelers will? lol?
- kjcdude, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6haven't you heard?
- boydrew, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6He led with his shoulder. The only reason helmet hit was McGahee's lowering his shoulder to hit Clark. This is football and both were attempting "football moves" in an attempt to plow over each other. Clark has made arguably cheap hits (Wes Welker) in the past but this one was completely legit.
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -2/+8The roughing the kicker call, where was dumb, was a LEGAL call by the NFL rulebook. No player on the receiving team can touch the punter after he has punted the ball. Regardless of how little it was.
And the overturned pass call against the Steelers. It looked like a catch and he was down on the white line into the endzone to me which should have been a touchdown, HOWEVER, I do not think there was enough on video to overturn the call either way whatever the call would have/should have been on the field. - MrSpontaneous, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6Let's not forget that, with all of the comparisons to Ben during his rookie season, The Steelers lost in the post season because of his performance. Flacco has a lot of promise, and the Ravens fans would do well to show their patience and support to a coach and a QB that restored their franchise.
As a Steelers fan, I'm looking forward to this rivalry. Without tough teams like the Ravens, we'd be the NFC. - inactive, on 01/19/2009, -1/+6Pittsburgh's on the up and up.
- klassik, on 01/19/2009, -2/+7Here we go, Steelers, HERE WE GO!
- MatzahMan, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4I'm glad that McHahee didn't suffer a career ending hit unlike that poor guy a couple seasons ago on the bills
- cawpin, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4That was simply gross.
- BloodWenis, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Big hit, nowhere near as ugly as his injury in the '02 National Championship game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9-KkUH8yt8 - sibos, on 01/19/2009, -3/+7Just Jerry and Ben Stiller against the Arizona Cardinals would be a close game.
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -1/+5How is Kurt Warner "way better"? Ben's career is only a handful of years old and is on pace with some of the greatest in the game as far as numbers go for this far in his career. Warner was considered washed up a couple years ago and is just having a good comeback season. Cards having good WR's, but I'd take Hines Ward over any of them any day of the week for the simple fact he's a hard hitter and is a HUGE playmaker.
- pljordan, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3All Steelers Fan! "We're Back!" The talk around the league was "It's hard to beat a team three times in a row", well it has been proven that three times isn't always a charm! The Steelers suited up Sunday nite to try and disspell this myth. It was a hard fought games from start to finish were only one could emerge victorious. As the temperture began to drop both teams began to heat up. With Baltimore winning the coin flip and deferring their option to recieve the kick off to the men of "black and gold." The steelers took the opening kickoff straight down the field ending the drive with a 3 point field goal, giving the steelers a lead they would never relinquish. Congratulations to the men of the "BLACK & GOLD" for a well played, hard fought, AFC Title game!
- Richandler, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3They only have 2 of the best WR in the league and a QB who has won the Super Bowl before with the same formula. Only Fitzgerald is playing better than any receiver in recent playoff history.
- SnuKs, on 01/19/2009, -1/+4It's a tough SOB. After getting his knee shredded the way it did when he was in Miami, I thought he'd never be the same and never make it into the pros...
But man it was just scary to see him frozen on the turf with this arms sticking up stiff.. - steve626, on 01/19/2009, -7/+10Steelers can never catch a break. So many missed calls against us...
- sgtbutterscotch, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3I don't think I will ever understand how players and coaches say never to hit helmet-to-helmet, but in this game, it seemed like there was barely any hit where a helmet slammed into another one. By the way anyone see that first monster hit on the opening kick? The commentators said the dude who got hit started walking to the wrong sideline, but they didn't show a replay of getting up.
- roxgod666, on 01/19/2009, -3/+6The Eagles-Cardinals game was a lot more entertaining. Eagles almost made one of the biggest comebacks in a conference championship game. Maybe next year...
- SoyJames, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3It was McGahee that lowered his head to cause helmet to helmet. Not his fault I'm sure it's just reflexes to try and protect himself, if he hadn't of done it though Clark would have hit him shoulder to chest... Quit your whining 1807
- BloodWenis, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3The dude will be fine. He came back after his injury in the '02 championship game and that play was MUCH nastier to watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9-KkUH8yt8 - duggdowncatisad, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3"Tonight?" Pens played at 12:30pm.
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3The Superbowl does favor the Steelers. But only because there defense looks better on paper and is also ranked #1 in the NFL this season. BOTH offenses though are about equal on what they can do. Both have vet QB's that already have a Superbowl ring, both have 2 great WR's to throw to.
I think this will be a very interesting Superbowl. The big question is going to be, can the Cards D step up to the level the Steelers D is playing at this season? - krets, on 01/19/2009, -0/+2That PI call was totally legit. The CB never turned his head to look for the ball and ran right into the receiver. You can't face guard in the NFL.
- fugularity, on 01/20/2009, -0/+2he's got a certifiable cannon of an arm tho...i understand you wanting to bring him down to equalize how much he's been fawned over, but he's also just a rookie...he's clearly going to be solid...at least middle of the pack...and yes, the ravens historically will take that
- fugularity, on 01/20/2009, -0/+2I'm getting awfully tired of people trying to find a cheap hit angle on the Steelers all the time.
