- BigCheezy, on 11/15/2009, -6/+39Huge win. Stanford just humiliated USC handing them their worst defeat at home ever.
- macmcraeart, on 11/15/2009, -13/+43suck it you perennially overrated bitches.
- macmcraeart, on 11/15/2009, -2/+31because the BCS is broken.
- paulvq, on 11/15/2009, -7/+25I still don't understand why they were in the top 10.
- holyskeleton, on 11/15/2009, -4/+19considering USC beat OSU, that was pretty good.
- statuescrumble, on 11/15/2009, -2/+17A TROJAN IS ONLY GOOD ONCE
- hawksfan03, on 11/15/2009, -1/+12jim harbaugh may not have been the best NFL player, but he is a really underrated coach.
He'll probably have the opportunity to coach Notre Dame after this season, I hope he's smart enough to decline that. - elliotys, on 11/15/2009, -0/+11All I can say is the Pac 10 is a crazy conference this year.
- akspark, on 11/15/2009, -3/+14I was in complete agreement of this statement until I saw Hook 'em.
Enjoy your loss in the Big 12 Championship. - swraman, on 11/15/2009, -0/+9As a Cal Student, I am just happy that USC isnt going to the Rose Bowl this year. Even though it isnt us (and it shouldnt be, just got back from a nail biter against Arizona) Best of luck to Oregon and all Bowl-playing Pac-10 tems this year. The Pac-10s been improving this year!
- RunDiggMC, on 11/15/2009, -1/+10For what it's worth, Stanford does require its athletes to pass through admissions, rather than accept anyone who is simply eligible by the NCAA's laughable requirements.
I'm not naive enough to think Stanford's top athletes don't get an extra nudge, but I read a few years ago that its football players averaged 3.8 GPAs and 1200+ SAT scores in high school. That explains why Stanford can't stockpile every recruit with a good time in the 40-yard dash, as USC can. Duke is one of the few other 1-A football programs with similar admissions standards, which explains their struggles, as well. - akspark, on 11/15/2009, -4/+13USC is overrated every year. They always bitch about not going to any big bowls, but automatically secure a Rose Bowl visit each year. On top of that, they are constantly ranked in the top 10 even with two, three losses because they service the LAX area.
- smackydoodle, on 11/15/2009, -0/+9That loss could drop them to #11...
- PotbellyJoe, on 11/15/2009, -7/+16USC, the only Pro Football in LA.
USC hate is easy when they dance for routine tackles, taunt, shimmy, do all of the things I hate the NFL for. It's college, the school and tradition is bigger than anything you do. As a student participating in athletics you are a representative of your school and its students. USC is not about that. They worship the individual, their lack of humility makes it easy to cheer against them. It's even better when a group of smart kids wipe the field with them. - Joshislong, on 11/15/2009, -1/+9Big Ten is way over rated. The only reason they are ranked high is because they beat themselves. None of them beat anyone notable out of conference.
- BoutDemCanes91, on 11/15/2009, -7/+13Apparently TCU & Boise State are the only really good teams in college football this year...
The BCS system is an epic fail. Playoffs anyone??? - blasteker, on 11/15/2009, -11/+16What is with all the USC hate? They may be overrated this ONE year but year after year they are easily one of the best teams in the country. Hate on Notre Dame or something.
- jserio, on 11/15/2009, -1/+6And there's the arrogance I speak of. Nuf said.
- AeroZeppelin, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4He'll be needed in Michigan.
- rberger909, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4As a USC fan I completely agree with you. USC should *NOT* be Top 25 and if they are then something is INCREDIBLY wrong. The Pac-10 is amazing this year and I think that is a very good thing! I'd say Oregon is the best Pac-10 team this year but even that is debatable with the Standford loss. There is some incredible talent in the Pac-10 this year and after this season with the competition we've seen this year I expect that talent to increase next year with good recruiting classes for all of the Pac-10.
- jserio, on 11/15/2009, -11/+15As a Sun Devil (we stink this year) this makes me so happy. It's about time the tide turns on the University of Spoiled Children, whose arrogance really brings down the rest of the PAC-10.
- Cerebron, on 11/15/2009, -1/+5I should bury you as a Stanford fan, but the Big Game can't be buried.
- GuruOfLiberty, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4all two and a half hours?
- trisweb, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3Go Bears! I'd congratulate Stanfurd for beating U$C, but big game week has begun.
- bf01, on 11/15/2009, -2/+5"while essentially ending 11th-ranked Southern California’s reign atop the Pac-10 with a 55-21 win Saturday."
Uh, yeah, right. While Stanford might have "essentially" ended it, Oregon "did" end it a couple of weeks ago. Props to Stanford though for beating us last week and crushing USC this week. Though I imagine Oregon loosened the lid on the proverbial pickle jar and Stanford came in for the easy open. - akspark, on 11/15/2009, -2/+5...I'm not even a USC fan.
- missinglink, on 11/15/2009, -1/+4At the beginning of the college season, raw talent can take you far (USC over OSU), but as the season wanes, a good team needs to develop and grow. USC hasn't, while everyone around them has. This is partially due to youth (true frosh quarterback, and basically a brand new Defense after the NFL took last year's D in the first and second rounds), and partially due to an atmosphere of individual over team that Carroll promotes.
USC will be in serious trouble in the long term if they don't figure out how to play as a team instead of 22 individuals. - gopoindexter, on 11/15/2009, -4/+7GO HUSKIES!!
:( - BoutDemCanes91, on 11/15/2009, -2/+5CANES!!!!
Oh crap, we lost too this week, damn! - Nudar, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3We all know what happened to the last Stanford coach who left for Our Lady University.
- Quaestor44, on 11/15/2009, -2/+4Always good to see a true academic institution defeat a team full of so called "student athletes"
- gotcheaprice, on 11/15/2009, -2/+4Yeah, our team has been playing pretty badly today, and Stanford has been playing great. I expected us to lose and it's fashionable to hate on us, but their band during half time was really unclassy, saying that our highest achiever among alums was Joe Francis and poking fun at our studies.
- amprather, on 11/15/2009, -10/+12I thoroughly enjoyed this game. USC can suck it!
- madcaps1980, on 11/15/2009, -6/+8This is what happens when you lose nine of your starting defensive players to the previous NFL draft and a star quarterback. This is definitely a humbling experience for the USC staff/players and their fans (including me). But we have a good program and I have no doubts at all that SC will learn from this season and comeback next year with a vengeance.
Fight on!! - jserio, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3Ditto!
- kenyadoit, 20 hr 25 min ago, -0/+1Which is why, despite how much we all want to see a playoff, we will never see one. The only thing worse than having more than one undefeated team at the end of the season is having two 'share' a National Championship.
The way USC is playing this year, plenty of other lesser known schools could beat them (and other big schools). And yes, I'm a USC fan. I'm also smart enough to admit they shouldn't be ranked at this point, but worse teams with worse record have had bowl games and will continue to do so as long as this current system is in place. - trisweb, on 11/15/2009, -0/+1Yeah, 'cause that's totally how football works.
They were mediocre a couple weeks ago and they were mediocre this week, so props to both schools for beating a mediocre team. - kenyadoit, 20 hr 15 min ago, -0/+1You have a good argument about academics and why USC can recruit better 'players'; however, that doesn't explain basketball. Duke, UCLA, and many other schools you could call 'academically superior' recruit better for basketball. And what about Florida? Are they just all around good student-athletes, or are they just another NCAA scandal away from being like the rest?
- cupholder, on 11/15/2009, -1/+2Protip: Outside the championship, most bowls are determined by $$$. Just because Podunk U has a Cinderella year, doesn't mean they'll make a bowl. USC will bring a large crowd. That's what matters to the corporations who sponsor the bowls.
- pinkspexx, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1The reason they get so much media coverage is because there's no NFL franchise in LA, plain and simple. Such haters.

- shinepdx, on 11/15/2009, -0/+1Huck the Fuskies
- jserio, on 11/15/2009, -4/+5I can't comment on whether they are overrated but they are so damn arrogant and expect things to go their way. The last few years they bitched about gong to the Rose Bowl (over the BCS Championship game). They should be grateful for a Rose Bowl invite every year. Instead, they act like children who didn't get what they think they deserve.
Check out this thread to see how childish their fans are acting: http://wearesc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101985 - swraman, on 11/15/2009, -3/+4Go Bears for the Big Game 2009!
- shinepdx, on 11/15/2009, -0/+1Well yes they beat both OSU teams, I just figured he meant the overrated suckeyes, not the rodents. Either way UofO (that would be the Oregon Ducks) beat USC already exposing they suck and they will beat both OSUs in the civil war and the rose bowl this year. Just like last year the ducks get to slaughter two OSU teams to end the year.
- UnterDenLinden, on 11/15/2009, -0/+1Well, Duke is coming back under Coach Cutcliffe! One more and we are .500, win the next 2 (that includes beating Miami.....) and we are bowl eligible! I'm sure the players aren't math majors, but we consistently have the highest graduation rate in D1 football.
- BikeRidinMan, on 11/15/2009, -2/+2Because of the Los Angeles media coverage?
