  • anders5689, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1Growing up and living in tampa, I have been on this gondola many many times. The operators generally check the gates a good 25 feet away from the edge. It usually takes at least 30 seconds before you exit the building after you have been seated. I really don't understand how this happened unless he just decided it would be a great idea to hang from the side of a gondola.

He must have got his sleeve or something caught in the latch because he was dangling for a while and the people in the car were trying to grab him before he fell. So the short answer to your question is he was outside of the car.
