- EMFK, on 06/30/2009, -0/+12After the Stallworth suspension, this doesn't seem too surprising coming from Goodell.
- lingyai, on 07/01/2009, -3/+12He served 2 years and lost most if not all his money. He has paid his debt let the man play.
- BedPost, on 06/30/2009, -0/+6Look, whether he plays or not is something entirely different, but Mike Vick was BORN for the wildcat offense. I want to see him play that so bad.
- ethanator1088, on 06/30/2009, -1/+7Nothing ever seems surprising coming from Goodell.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -2/+6its only fitting. Vick has to prove he can stay a model citizen before getting reinstated and Burress?? Well, his is just an awkward situation. Can you really let a player play while going through a serious legal battle?
- Netmindstorm, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Not that I don't agree with how Goodell has handled these cases so far, but I won't be surprised at all if some player eventually files some sort of lawsuit over how sanctions are determined and applied. In fact I am [pleasantly] surprised the the nflpa hasn't already gone ape ***** over this. Here's some additional material that mentions some of the other players and how Goodell has dealt with them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_Lea ... It would nice if they can police their own, but when money, agents, lawyers and careers are in the balance, it's not going to be an easy thing to do.

Fun
League - thanakar, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3Where does Goddell get off doing these types of things. Vick had already served his sentence so Goddell has not room to impose more.
- apastafarian, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4The players sign a contract that includes morality and off the field behavior clauses. This includes things like running gambeling operations, carrying firearms and a host of other illegal and blatantly stupid activities, It's not too much of a burden as part of the process of becoming filthy rich while playing a GAME that they adhere to that contract. Of course Burress and Vick might argue the point. Maybe they could bury the bitterness in hookers, mansions and gold plated Escalades ....***AFTER THEIR playing time is done!*** I'm a football fan who enjoyed watching each play. Personally, it wouldn't bother me a teeny bit if they never played again. THEY ARE MORONS!
- hawksfan03, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3i couldn't agree more. the guy is going to get paid the nfl minimum his first season and will have to work his way back to a decent contract. he has suffered enough.
- sgerwel1985, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3Vick has served his sentence which according to the courts, was perfectly suited for what he did. I just think if Roger slams him with a hard ban, he is doing himself injustice. He let Adam Jones back a few times, and i'm not saying fighting and killing dogs is right... But it sure as hell isn't on the same level as shooting people.
This man has all the right in the world to try to get his life back on track. Will he be like he was before? Well that is something we have to wait in and see. I just hope Vick learned from his mistakes and becomes a better person because of it. Even IF he gets a suspension, it would be a good thing to allow Vick to focus on the important things in life... Being a good husband and most importantly, a father. - apastafarian, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Maybe that's why MJ never played in the NFL?
- fandyllic, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3The brother always gets it.
- Pinkertinkle, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3Let's make em fight each other hand to hand for 1 NFL spot.
- kmiller7, on 07/01/2009, -2/+4MJ was never accused of raping anyone. He was accused of fondling (ie not rape) a few young boys, and got acquitted. Did he do it the first time? Probably. Did he do it the second time? In my opinion? Probably not.
Michael Vick ADMITTED he was guilty. How can people be so non-chalant about someone that ended lives? - bdbr, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Shouldn't shooting yourself be punishment enough?
- bunner, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3While in Prison = Stiff Penalties
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2And MJ raped innocent children and got away with it. Probably didn't stop you from "becoming a fan" or making stupid RIP comments on facebook.
- bigpixl, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2Those situations were totally the same – especially when you know nothing about either.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -3/+4This is the way it should be. Why reward bad behavior?
- pinchduck, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1You are aware that there is a difference between the NFL and the judicial system, right? And playing in the NFL is not a right, but a privilege. There is a code of conduct. Both of them violated it. Let them work at Wal*Mart and ponder how life could have been different if they had concentrated on being good football players instead of impressing themselves or being flashy around town.
- vapn420, on 07/01/2009, -2/+3Goddell is the worse thing to ever happen to the nfl
- netant, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1@kmiller7
Michael Vick HAD to admit to crimes the prosecution stipulated, REGARDLESS whether he was actually guilty of the crimes, in order to have a FINITE prison sentence that would allow him to be able to play football for another 2-3 years.
Look *****, I don't see you going around saying that Mexicans and Spaniards are scumbags. What they do to cattle is FAR WORSE than any dogfighting ring Vick agreed to claim he was involved with. - angelofdoom, on 07/23/2009, -0/+0Please let "Mr" Vick meet the animals(not the comish) in their own turf.
lets go with an eye for an eye and here is the scenario, get some starving pitbulls, put them on a cage, get vick on a cage, face the cages
(oh! mr vick have to figth on hands and knees) let them lose and lets all watch the great Michael Vick in ALL HIS GLORY being maulled and biten and let see how he likes them apples.
Michael Vick is NOT a role model for any child, don't think so, he is cocky and arrogant and his antics only appeal to the tough mentality of the gettho. He has show no remorse. Statistics say that in 79% of the cases a felon will commit the same or another offense. Proven FACT. - chitown54, on 07/20/2009, -0/+0I always enjoyed watching Vick play- he was electric but now he is a criminal, a killer, an abuser and off in his head. I believe in 2nd chances... but only after he has paid his debt... he paid it to the federal gov . but not to the nfl & all the fans. You as a memeber of the NFL are to be upheld to represent that company.. he tattered it. If it were you or me that did this crime would we be able to go back to our job? He__ _ NO. He was given a 24kt gold platter and he sh-t on it. Look at dahmer, Gacy, ed Gein they all started out killing animals what makes him any better. he isn't and its not because he is a brother- who gives a f_ _k what color his skin is. i don't. Any team who takes him on- which I don't think any will -have a major PR issue. Vick needs to pack up- take his brother marcus & go to canada. They hunt & eat there kills there.
- vapn420, on 07/01/2009, -0/+0Do you have a house full of dogs that you've personally rescued? No? Shut the ***** up about animal rights then.
- chitown54, on 07/21/2009, -0/+0first of all if you and I lied to the owner of our company, our bosses boss and served time in a federal prison would we be allowed back in to our job. No so why should he. Pacman did not kill someone.... Vick lied to the feds, killed over 30 dogs in humanely- the best way Vick will learn anything is to hit rock bottom- be denied the life he had until he has proven himself worthy to his boss and his fans. Good forbid he never has kids & if he does the woman keeps them as far away as possible. All serial killers started by killing animals... hmmmm sounds likeVick. Not welcomed in Bear or Colt country or any town who has any sense
- netant, on 07/01/2009, -2/+1What's there to prove? How many years does Vick have to wait before he's "proven" he can be a "model" citizen? Are you such a retard that you don't realize that professional athletes can only perform in their profession for a VERY limited number of years before they are "unemployable"? Or are you a hypocrite that thinks Vick should never make a living AFTER serving his prison sentence?
- kmiller7, on 07/01/2009, -5/+2Michael Vick killed 9 dogs WITH HIS BARE HANDS. HIS ASSOCIATES KILLED MORE THAN 50. Michael Vick is a soulless dog killer, and should never play in the NFL again. ***** that stupid bastard.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -9/+6Roger Goodell isn't a judge. Any "penalties" should be handed out by a court, not some holier than thou executive, who only cares about the NFL's image, not the player's life or the poor puppies.
Seriously people, Vick killed a couple of dogs, Michael Jackson RAPED KIDS.
