- BaysideTigers, on 02/26/2009, -0/+34Any mention of whether or not he can have a pet?
- RealmDown, on 02/27/2009, -4/+38I hear he kept in shape in prison by being a wide receiver.
- chicagojack, on 02/27/2009, -4/+32They should make him wear a dog colar monitor instead of an ankle monitor
- endustry, on 02/27/2009, -4/+23Yeah but he went in as a tight end.
- Denominator88, on 02/27/2009, -3/+17Poor guy. Has to stay in his house all day, sitting at his computer, wasting his life away. He's being punished by being made to live the lifestyle of a Digg user.
- RealmDown, on 02/27/2009, -0/+11Chia's only.
- shaskillz, on 02/27/2009, -2/+12you must be insane.
football>dog watching - oldhick, on 02/27/2009, -0/+9So now you're no better than either of them.
- bigp3rm, on 02/27/2009, -6/+15He paid his debt. Get over yourselves you self righteous bastards.
And yeah I love my dogs. - MandiOLP, on 02/27/2009, -1/+10You are aware you don't have to pick and choose what you stand up for, right? Maybe I'm just particularly good at multi-tasking, but I have no problem at all thinking both animal abuse and human abuse need consequences.
- oldhick, on 02/27/2009, -1/+9Yes. They will watch Michael Vick play football.
- NMed04, on 02/27/2009, -5/+13this is such a shame... he would have gotten away with all this if it wasn't for those pesky kids... and his dogs too.
- InSearchOfTruth, on 02/27/2009, -2/+10How long before Jerry Jones and the Cowboys recruit him?
- acacia987, on 02/27/2009, -1/+8are you joking....? do you know how many convicted criminals are in the NFL for crimes way worse? Ray Lewis, although not convicted, was "somehow" involved with killing 2 people and Baltimore worships the ground he walks on (me being one of them). What about Pacman ... enough said. he will play, people will watch, lets move on.
- keyforce, on 02/27/2009, -2/+9I call BS on you having read and understood the article in any way.
- shaskillz, on 02/27/2009, -5/+11children>dogs
you're ***** retarded. - oldhick, on 02/27/2009, -0/+6I'd LOVE to take that bet!
- strafefire, on 02/27/2009, -1/+6He is almost done serving the MAXIMUM sentence for dog fighting.
Now, if they wanted to, they could bring him up on RICO charges and the like and keep his ass in there, but they did not so.
Just let is go man, let it go... - Bdog2g2, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5But its gotta be a jewel encrusted pink collar.
- Pwelborn1, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5Dude, get some counseling.
- topgigmedia, on 02/27/2009, -9/+14Special treatment. I call BS! He should have to do his time behind bars like everyone else (that do not have millions in the bank).
- peacelvr, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5And it should shock him if he goes off course. This man is an a-hole. Pits are great dogs.
- strafefire, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5Will you people get over yourselves!
He served the MAXIMUM time for the punishment.
MAXIMUM!
2 years of his life will be GONE! Yes, it has almost been 2 years!
He has no money!
His house is to be seized by his creditors!
AND, what people are forgetting, is that he still has to go to court in VA for other related charges, i.e. his ***** is not over yet... - krellor, on 02/27/2009, -5/+10I hope so. Killing animals for no reason, and torturing and abusing them in the process is about on the same level as abusing children in my eyes. Killing an animal for food, and doing it as humanely as possible is one thing. Dog fighting and other forms of abuse are another. (I'm a vegetarian, to preempt any claims of hypocrisy).
Consider also that some dogs used in dog fighting are stolen from their owners. Seriously, if someone stole my dog so they could essentially torture them, I'd be waiting for the day they got out of jail. - DirtyVicar, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5Well, on those charges it looks like anyone wouldn't have gotten more than five years... see:
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/usc_sec_18_00000 ... - shaskillz, on 02/27/2009, -5/+9his punishment was totally insane. dog are cool, but they aint ppl.
- oldhick, on 02/27/2009, -1/+5I would agree with you except I think the jail time came from racketeering and gambling charges.
Animal fighting is still practiced all over the world and even celebrated in many countries. It's cultural thing. However, our culture has decided not to tolerate it so you have to respect where you live and the laws of your land. If you do not, you must pay the price. - dsiv, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4I'm a meat-eater, so I'm not pointing an fingers, but I really doubt you could classify the way we treat the animals that we use for food as "humane". We treat most of them miserably in order to drive down the cost of food production.
- MeatMountain, on 02/27/2009, -1/+5Animals don't have rights. They have flavors. Some of them have masters. We try not to make them suffer unduly as a matter of compassion. But rights? No. What Vick did was merely uncompassionate, and his punishment was overboard. Whats next, a fine because I stepped on an ant? A Genocide trial because I exterminated a nest of rats?
- krellor, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4I donate equal amounts every month to Mercy Corp and the ASPCA. I like to think that I can focus on both problems. And the whole human family argument is tired at best. I love my dogs way more than most people. When backpacking a few winters ago and a ice shelf broke under me I pushed my dog to safety before trying to arrest my fall. I'd take a bullet for them, because they are my family. Just like I'd take a bullet for my mother, or brother or sister. I would also go out of my way to help a stranger. I think the world needs more compassion in general. There is no reason it can't be shown to everything as opposed to just people.
- vsprabhakara, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4So who's going to sign him when he's done with his sentence in July? Oakland Raiders?
- Nickolassc, on 02/27/2009, -2/+6He's Michael Vick. He would be running the place in under a month.
Prisoners like football too. - wcstryfe10, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4I would love to see PETA going to a Raiders game
- frishackbanned, on 02/27/2009, -1/+4you apparently take them more seriously than human rights. misguided fool.
- frishackbanned, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Absolutely, go youtube up a video of Bull fighting. It is massively gory, and ends with the bull being sliced open. Animals have no rights.
- Hetman, on 02/27/2009, -8/+11Because of PETA I have been desensitized to dog fighting. Not only do I now believe that the jailing of Vick was wrong, I am lobbying the government to create legislation which passed would legalize dog fighting.
- Hetman, on 02/27/2009, -1/+4This really was not even about dog fighting. The media just blew that part out of porportion. The real problem was tax evasion and illegal gambling across state borders. The FBI did not get involved because dogs were being abused. The FBI got invovled because of money, not because dogs were being abused.
- ASSASSYN360, on 02/27/2009, -3/+6I wonder if he was passing or recieving while in prision?
- ForceJump, on 02/27/2009, -3/+6@topgigmedia: well put
- Nickolassc, on 02/27/2009, -3/+6I don't see what the problem is, I mean the guy still has herpes. He will have to live with that the rest of his life.
- TomT127, on 02/27/2009, -1/+4I'm sure he's been rehabilitated.
- Stiles05s, on 02/27/2009, -2/+5It's kind of sick that so many people in here are tolerant of his actions. How was Dusty the cat different?
- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Pet rock, probably.
- Cyberbladewolf, on 02/27/2009, -7/+10He should have never been jailed in the first place. Fined sure, but jailed? No. We get all worked up over dogs because everybody here thinks of them as family pets. Other parts of the world wouldn't have given a damn and would've been just fine with it as long as the meat wasn't thrown out. It's all a matter of perspective.
- shaskillz, on 02/27/2009, -2/+5be it ***** up, dogs are just animals. get over it
- stvh1, on 03/01/2009, -0/+3 Vick makes me sick to my stomach. If a pitbull did not fight like he thought it should have.He would hang the dog by the neck with a rope untill it was dead.
- Feenix566, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Just because some of us don't want to send troops into Darfur, that doesn't mean we don't care about what's going on. We just don't want to spill the blood of Americans in an attempt to stop it, especially considering the extremely low likelyhood of success of such an endeavor.
- OPR8R, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Interesting comments. Diggers have strange sense of justice sometimes.
- Cyberbladewolf, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2I hope nobody gets the impression that I'm for torture. That is not what I mean at all. My point is that dog fighting isn't what I'd call a jail worthy offense. Especially considering that many dogs are more than willing to fight each other to the death in the wild. He should have been fined like almost any other person would have been for animal cruelty.
Torture is a horrible thing, yes, but he was punished much more harshly than any other person convicted of dog fighting would have just because of the media attention that was given to the case. - sockpuppets, on 02/27/2009, -1/+3That's ruff.
