- sgtbutterscotch, on 10/26/2009, -3/+102But which one was your favorite pixel?
- harvinator24, on 10/26/2009, -3/+68I can't believe how badly Miami fell apart at the end of that game. Going into half the game seemed like a lock. Then 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. What a joke.
- NoodlePDX, on 10/26/2009, -1/+61If I can see iiiiiiit...then I'll TD iiiiiiit....
- Feraldr00d, on 10/26/2009, -0/+56Holy *****! He was crawling afterward!
- Locke02, on 10/26/2009, -0/+53One of my favorite plays of that game, ***** plowed that guy.
- burden555, on 10/26/2009, -0/+52only time you can say that with out it sounding gay
- wondertwins, on 10/26/2009, -2/+43YOU GOT KNOCKED THE FUGG OUT~!
- Table, on 10/26/2009, -1/+41He just jumped over 15 feet in full football gear.
- omoshiroi, on 10/26/2009, -1/+28Oh, please! He wasn't flying. That was just falling with style!
- wrzhydr, on 10/26/2009, -0/+22Ball was inside the orange pylon and his feet weren't down yet. It's not out of bounds unless the feet make contact outside the boundary.
- cajungator3, on 10/26/2009, -6/+28Thats my saints for ya! It was an insane game though.
- monkeysama, on 10/26/2009, -6/+26It doesn't. The ball needs to be inside the pylons. Any part of the ball needs to break the plane (segment) at the front of the endzone before the carrier (who has control) is down.
It's a bit different for catching the ball, you need control, to get both feet in, and to maintain control through a 'football move'. - Zalyster, on 10/26/2009, -1/+19Of course the easiest way to improve your chances of a td are to...construct additional pylons.
- casspa, on 10/26/2009, -2/+19Pretty epic come back....I really thought Miami could have pulled it out if they did a better job of controlling the clock with their running game.
- TimBuc1, on 10/26/2009, -0/+16they also aren't carrying anything or being chased by a crazed defense and don't have their steps timed up.
- rabidjester, on 10/26/2009, -0/+16I see what you both did there.
- blaou, on 10/26/2009, -1/+16@ran24: I dugg you up because I had the same question after watching the video.
Thanks to all who answered and weren't dicks about it. - pilot3033, on 10/26/2009, -1/+16ball went in, he had control. that's what matters for TDs
- ThaATrain, on 10/26/2009, -0/+14its really hard for high schoolers to get 22 feet. Dude just cleared 18 effortlessly
- inactive, on 10/26/2009, -0/+13most high school long jumpers would die from one tackle and use two feet.
- hypocriticizer, on 10/26/2009, -0/+12Next time link to a video that doesn't remind me of 56k streaming.
- WhoDoneIt, on 10/26/2009, -1/+12Difference between a comment and a question. That was a question.
For future reference these ??? things at the end of a sentence means a question was asked. - twiztidsinz, on 10/26/2009, -1/+11That's painful.
- smrekar, on 10/26/2009, -1/+11no one else wants to hear about your FF team.
- monkeysama, on 10/26/2009, -2/+11They won because of a ***** tripping call, followed by a fumble run back from the redzone next play. 14 point swing followed by a fluke int in the redzone later that quarter, also run back for a TD.
- ccyr85, on 10/26/2009, -0/+9If only he looked that impressive when he tries to run up the middle for positive yardage...
- bsonline, on 10/26/2009, -2/+11Being buried for liking your home team? Some people are asshats, can't respect a good time. I have to admit, I enjoyed the second half more than the first. And, I drank alcohol equally in each. Just like Miami.
- subliminali, on 10/26/2009, -0/+9miami and new orleans have the two most enjoyable offenses to watch in the nfl. I knew this game was going to be epicly awesome before it even began.
- jk_baller23, on 10/26/2009, -0/+9Miami has poor clock management, especially near the end of the game. We saw it against the Colts and now against the Saints.
- Trinsie, on 10/26/2009, -0/+9I would disagree with "most" high school jumpers easily clearing 22 feet.
I would say great high school jumpers can clear 22 feet sometimes. I used to do long jump in high school.
22 feet would win almost every event I ever participated in. Only a few people at state could clear that with any good percentage of tries and those were people who would definitely get scholarships. The world record longest recorded jump is 29 feet 4 inches and 29 feet has only been cleared twice in any major event.
Look at last summers olympics the average long jumpers attempt was just under 25 feet.
I would have to say 18 feet in full gear, holding a ball which wont allow for maximum arm leverage, with people chasing you and trying to get it to clear the endzone line is a very very very good jump due to the conditions. - SirCharge, on 10/26/2009, -0/+8The endzone is a three dimensional area. As long as the player holds the ball above the end zone, before any part of his body lands out of bounds, it is a touchdown.

- monkeysama, on 10/26/2009, -3/+11http://www.east-coast-bias.com/2007/10/plane-of-go ...
The ball needs to be inside the pylons for it to be a legal score. The "Plane" is a misnomer, as it's actually a plane segment, bounded by the pylons.
Incidentally, you can advance the ball outside the field of play while in the air (before touching the ground) UNLESS that advance would the ball in the endzone, in which case the ball's spotted where it left the field of play.
If you want further proof, watch a few football games. Watch players who get paid millions of dollars to score touchdowns risk possession of the ball and stretch to tap the pylon, instead of just diving further out of bounds and stretching down-field.
Feel free to re-digg my original post ;) - colto, on 10/26/2009, -1/+8He stuck his arm back into the field and the ball itself and his hand passed on inside the marker which counted as a touchdown.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200710 ... - cuevas4711, on 10/26/2009, -0/+7He did not step out of bounds before the ball crossed the goal line.
- OscarMilde, on 10/26/2009, -15/+22The endzone boundary "stretches into infinity" on both sides.
The result is that, as long as the ball crosses the plane (which is infinite) without your feet landing out of bounds, it's a touchdown.
It's kind of weird, and I don't know why that's the rule, but it is. - plainOldFool, on 10/26/2009, -0/+6One can also argue the bs call against Heath Miller which also cost the Steelers a TD.
- mizatt, on 10/26/2009, -2/+8Monkeysama is right. Some of you guys should get your head out of the rulebooks and turn on an actual game because you would quickly see how it's called. This is why players tag the pylon with the ball when they dive for the corner of the end zone.
- slicksingh2k, on 10/26/2009, -2/+8no, I agree with predatorpasta. You're an idiot.
- mccoix, on 10/26/2009, -1/+6If I was a Saints fan I'd be hysterical about Bush having five bad plays to every good play. He's one of the least reliable backs in the league, and the worst one on the Saints roster.
- colto, on 10/26/2009, -1/+6Now try it with a flip!
http://digg.com/people/Teenager_Can_Jump_20_Feet_W ... - jordanv1, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5Nobody is suggesting that.
We're suggesting that Mike Powell couldn't recreate Bush's leap as it was done in the game. - ran24, on 10/26/2009, -2/+7Ahhh OK. I was so confused, because when nearly out of bounds TD catches are made, you have announcers nitpicking like crazy about the feet, and then I see this blatant two feet out of bounds play. Didn't know there was different rules for running into the endzone and catching there.
Like blaou said, thanks to those who were actually helpful about their responses. - StewMeat, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5direct link on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br9IwWQPew8 - merdiesel, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5Most annoying comment ever.
- SirCharge, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5For a reception to count a player has to control the ball with both feet in-bounds in order to prove that he had the ball in bounds. It isn't so much that running plays have different rules, its just that its nearly impossible to have a running play where someone has not controlled the ball for at least two steps before he goes out of bounds.
A receiver could do the same thing, take two steps and jump out of bounds and as long as the player got the ball over the end zone it would still be a touch down. - cleantoe, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5Not to burst your bubble...but they get to use their arms as leverage when jumping and flying through the air and all they are wearing are shorts, a shirt and shoes.
Reggie Bush was running at an angle with a football cradled in the nook of his arm wearing 20-30 lbs of equipment. -
