- AmyVernon, on 01/11/2009, -4/+17I don't know why, but I'm rooting for Bmore....
- Xider, on 01/11/2009, -1/+10I'm thinking back to last year when the New York Giants won the Super Bowl. It was an incredible play-off run, no one gave them a chance at all - in fact, every week they were the underdogs and every week they were predicted to lose.
First, they enter as the #5 Seed and knock off the #4 Seed (Tampa Bay) 24 to 14. They advance to face the #1 Seed (Dallas) and no one thinks they have a shot in hell but some how, some way, New York upsets Dallas 21 to 17. Their next challenge was the #2 Seed (Green Bay) which they had to go to OT, but eliminated them and advance to the Super Bowl to face the Undefeated Patriots. It was as if their challenges kept getting harder and despite 3 incredibly victories, no one gave them a chance but they ended up winning 17 to 14.
Now, this year, the same thing is happening. Arizona has now eliminated two teams who had a combined record of 23-9. They said "If you have to play on the road in the play-offs, pray it's at Arizona" and that resulted in the early elimination of the Atlanta Falcons. Thanks to an Eagles win, they had to move on to to Carolina, where they lost earlier this season, had yet to win on the east coast this year, and were playing the only undefeated home team of the 2008 season but Arizona smacked down the Carolina Panthers so ***** hard they will feel it for years.
Now, I see how everyone is still simply dismissing the Cardinals. Predicting New York or Philly to go to the Super Bowl. What is that *****? If Philly wins, Arizona gets to advance to the Super Bowl in front of their home crowd. If they lose, they have a very tough game against the Giants, but it's ***** retarded at this point to simply rule Arizona out because of their past. - nickceleb, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9I thumbed you up because I think that could very well happen, but I am going with the Eagles losing to the Ravens in the bowl.
- Kikinou, on 01/11/2009, -2/+9No no, it'll be Arizona v Baltimore :-)
- GoodDevilInc, on 01/11/2009, -2/+9Did you know....
That 2/3s of the Earth's surface is covered by water?
The other 1/3 is covered by ED F-ING REED!
GO RAVENS! - nickceleb, on 01/11/2009, -2/+9I agree. Jeff Fisher is the man and he got screwed, but you have to give the ravens D credit for forcing those mistakes.
- Dcherub, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6starfire must be sad...
- RapeApe, on 01/11/2009, -2/+8I don't see how that was an upset. Now Arizona beating up on Carolina is a different story.
- EvilCan, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Well Baltimore was the #6 seed and the Titans were the #1 seed. It may not have been that much of an upset in reality, but it sure was on paper.
- peccadillop, on 01/11/2009, -3/+9Fk I wanted titans to win.... they did well in the regular season :(
- mizatt, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5The Cardinals were 9-7 this year. While you're going over all those statistics you should check out the standings
- Cole2026, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6Steelers vs Ravens next week. Just as nature intended--it will be an excellent game.
- fdsarawr, on 01/11/2009, -5/+10The only reason the Ravens won is because the Titans kept shooting themselves in the kneecaps. Ravens barely squeezed by even with four turnovers and so many damn penalties against the Titans. No matter who wins between San Diego and Pittsburgh, the Ravens will be taken out.
- RapeApe, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5Regardless of seed there were only two wins separating their records. It's not like the Ravens backed into the playoffs. Plus Tenn had to come back in the 4th quarter to beat Baltimore earlier this season. No upset here.
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Cardinals beating the Panthers was much more unexpected if you ask me, though the Panthers pretty much handed them the game on a silver platter.
Hard to know how they'll do against the Giants as the Giants could easily blow it as well with their inconsistency (Cowboys made them look like the worst team in the league). I honestly just think its cool that Kurt Warner could be taking another team to the superbowl after all this time. - endustry, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5The Titans did more to lose this one than Baltimore did to win it.
- Teknikscian, on 01/11/2009, -5/+9chargers vs ravens next week! i have ESPn
- tedrotheredro, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4I was at the game, and it was heartrending.
-Stupid fumbles by White and Crumpler inside the red zone, holding the ball at crazy angles or away from their body.
-Chris Johnson getting injured in the first half (he had 100+ yds in the first half)
-Missed field goal by a yard
-Obvious delay of game is obvious
This game was absolutely stolen. There's no question who the better team was, but the Ravens played hard till the end, and their defense stopped our crippled offense without Johnson, so I have to give them credit where credit is due. - eddie72, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Strange it says "Ravens Upset Titans" but I have a feeling most people thought the Ravens would win before that game ever occurred as I know I did.
- FranklinP, on 01/11/2009, -2/+5I want to see the Steelers and Eagles in the bowl. That would so sic! ..
- lupka, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3I was at the game as well, although rooting for the road team. Props to you Titans fans on creating a good environment for your team and not giving us Ravens fans too much hell.
- chesterogilvie, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4Suggs was an animal when he was healthy yesterday. Baltimore really needs him on the field, creating havoc in the backfield.
- bdbr, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4"The Titans held onto the ball longer (34:07 to 25:53), gained more yards (391 to 211) and had more first downs (21 to 9), but were undone by turnovers." (nfl.com)
This kind of thing happens all the time in playoffs. The better team kills itself with mistakes, and the other team progresses. Once in a blue moon the underdog pulls off another upset in the Super Bowl, but most of the time the Super Bowl just ends up being a boring blowout. - mkriss5681, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4Ray Lewis in the video on that page is fraking hilarious!
"Ooooohohoohooo! Hallelujah, hallelujah, god is amazing! He so amazing man. OoooOOOOooh!"
It sounded like he even didn't expect to win.
You can say what you will about Titans "shooting themselves in the foot", but its like Ray Lewis said: They "played mistake free football","the defense bent but it did not brake". The Ravens have been making turnovers all season not just this game, and Flacco did enough to win the game. Pretty good for a rookie QB and coach.
Go Ravens!!! - Broncosrule, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4i think the steelers are going win against the chargers
- pointsguy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Except that none of the aforementioned teams will make the SB.
- gelato822, on 01/11/2009, -2/+4As long as it is someone vs. the Ravens and the Ravens win, I'm good.
- davidsmero, on 01/11/2009, -1/+3No idea, but it was funny.
- Xider, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2We'll see next week, now won't we.
- pointsguy, on 01/11/2009, -1/+3Tenn playing at home. They were the favorites. It was an upset.
- pointsguy, on 01/11/2009, -1/+3Don't forget the officials blowing the play clock call, or non call.
- cuoops, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Yeah, but at least the Titans were in a Superbowl. I'm an old Oilers fan and wish the Titans would have won that one.
- tedrotheredro, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2I see what you did there
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2Nope, it's gonna be an all-Pennsylvania Superbowl.
- MetalHead73, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Sure, they may have only made the playoffs because of there Division's embarassing records. But go and look and who they have beat. Atlanta was on fire, and had a better record then them. Then the Panthers, they didn't just beat them, they tied them up naked to a tree and completely humiliated them at home.
the Cardinals have proven they should be in the playoffs, and it's VERY reminisicent of the '07 Giants. - cadmiumpaint, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Its Ravens vs Eagles. I called that 2 weeks ago.
- fugularity, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2Well I guess James Harrison is made of water then...
- solarix, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1Tenn Titans....not Teen Titans :-)
- smacksaw, on 01/11/2009, -2/+3What?
The Eagles are way hotter right now than the Giants.
I hate to bring reality to your quotation of scores, but if scores matter to you, I've got some scores for you:
November 23, 2008
New York Giants at Cardinals
37-29, Giants
November 27, 2008 (a short week)
Cardinals at Eagles
48-20, Eagles
The Cardinals were at least 1 TD from the Giants. They were 4 TDs from the Eagles.
The Cardinals match up well against the Giants. The Giants are in a bit of a funk, losing 3 of their last 4. The Eagles have a healthy team right now and they have much better record in the same timespan as the Giants, going 4 and 1 with one of those wins against said Giants.
The Eagles are very likely to top the Giants again and very likely to hand Arizona their asses in their helmets. Of course the Giants could be playing possum like the Cardinals have been. So I'll rule the Cardinals out using your own methodology. I hope they win and go all the way, but frankly, I don't see it unless the Giants take care of the Eagles. The Cardinals want no part of that Eagles defense and have no answer for all of the different receivers the Eagles have. - pointsguy, on 01/11/2009, -2/+3As long as Ray Lewis doesn't kill someone again at the Super Bowl, I'll be fine with him losing to the Giants.
- luckyscs, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2Then you can't say Suggs got that penalty during the regular season when the Ravens were going to beat the Titans. They called a false start and allowed the play to go on leading to a ***** hands to the face penalty that gave titans the first down and allowed their drive to go on. I was at both games and they are two very good teams. The matchup was great and the better team came out on top.
- fugularity, on 01/17/2009, -0/+1Thankful? pfft.
- FranklinP, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1I agree. They did terrible ....
- kevin52094, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1Why are do you want the eagles to win if the "Broncos Rule" Choose One Team.
- nickceleb, on 01/18/2009, -0/+1Arizona is going down big time tommorow. It's a joke they came this far.
- bigp3rm, on 01/11/2009, -3/+4I was pulling for the Titans but they shot themselves the whole game. In penalties and turnovers.
But for now, go Cardinals! - GoodDevilInc, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2Forced fumbles and INTs killed yall. Consider this payback for the game the Titans stole back in week 5. Roughing the passer my anus.
- pointsguy, on 01/11/2009, -2/+3Seriously? Talk about wishful thinking. Every barely-made-the-playoffs teams thinks they're the NY Giants of last year.
STFU already. -
