So has every professional sports team somewhere along the line. Give it up and play better next week. Ed is one of the best referees in the game, he made a mistake... They already downgraded him and he probably wont be able to do the playoffs this year. Get over it and focus on why your defense is giving up big plays 2 weeks in a row.

The Broncos still won the game by running the same play twice. Yes the Broncos were lucky, but your D blew it!

- Luke302, on 09/15/2008, -1/+0Ed dropped the ball in this game... no doubt about it. Not once but twice. Time for a suspension or a big fine, or both. How does it look to the players and fans if it's alright for a ref to screw up but players get fines and suspensions for their indiscretions.
I'm afraid the NFL has lost what little credibility they had left after this fiasco. What ever happened to "let them play"? - morgino, on 09/15/2008, -1/+07 points....phantom holding call against chambers that takes a td away, 7 points a bad call on chambers that turns into a Denver td with a "technical problem" that doesnt allow for a review, 7 points, a fumble that isnt called a fumble. They come back from 21 points only to have the ref hand the donkeys the game. Seriously, what the hell was going on here?

- sruser, on 09/16/2008, -1/+0Jay Cutler and other Broncos considered it a fumble! The replay officials thought it was a fumble! How in the world can you say it was an "incomplete pass at best" You don't seem to know much about the game. Hochuli should be fined. At least three calls affected the outcome of this game: the non-fumble/blown whistle, the phantom holding call on Sprole's touchdown and Bailey's strip when the replay system on the field just happened to "not work" . What chaps me is why the refs could not simply look at the same damn jumbo screen that CLEARLY showed the receiver was down before the ball was stripped? The bolts won that game! Christmas came early for Denver, and they know it!

Is the stupidity of the whistle blow to begin with. Assuming he didn’t notice the obvious characteristics of the fumble and thought that Cutler was actually throwing the ball, it still went backward. It should be considered a lateral and fumble anyway. There was no reason that he should have ever though it was a forward pass. None. Nada. Zip. Zero. Deal with your loss like a man and stop crying about a conspiracy theory that Ed Hochuli has it out for you.
- bayareashows, on 09/16/2008, -2/+0Although I appreciate Hochuli's honest response, he should still be reprimanded. Just as NFL players and coaches are fined or suspended for bad performances, the commish must treat nfl refs to the same standard.
