- Quick2822, on 04/22/2008, -0/+17These schools have a special contract with the Chicago Bears to never allow any QB who has any talent to go to Chicago. Every so often they will toss us a bone (Cade McNown, Rex Grossman) but they do that only for a good laugh.
- explainer, on 04/22/2008, -0/+9Here's better top 10 data by state: #of players drafted DIVIDED by state population (2007 census)
#1 Louisiana
#2 Mississippi
#3 District of Columbia
#4 Alabama
#5 South Carolina
#6 Florida
#7 Georgia
#8 Hawaii
#9 Texas
#10 Nebraska
It's not a "hotbed" if you have to search through millions and millions of people to find them. - yunus, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8Many out of state players probably also go to these states for the weather.
- exronin, on 04/22/2008, -0/+7over Wisconsin and Minnesota i bet they do lol
- BetterOffEd, on 04/22/2008, -0/+6University of Miami = Thuggish-Ruggish-Bone.
- whatthefu, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5They must also have a special contract to keep anyone good from going to Detroit.
- robbh66, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5Except they put out a higher percentage than their combined population. Try reading the ***** article next time. Also, there are a few somewhat heard of schools such as Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, etc that aren't in those states. I know they're just small football schools, but they do have a little impact in drawing kids from FL/TX/CA away from their home state.
- robbh66, on 04/22/2008, -2/+6Nobody comes to Texas for the weather.
- qotsa07, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5This is the biggest newsflash ever
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4Wow lotta SEC players go into the nfl.
- lsucatdaddy, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4Check out Louisiana, per capita the highest number. That should've been the story.
- Genthree, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3This is why the BCS is biased against the SEC. There's just too much talent and all the teams knock eachother out of competition.
- nicc, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4if you are a lineman, then you want to be from Virginia.
- bobdigi, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2hardy har har
- BetterOffEd, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2That's essentially the downfall. The all have to play each other. So the odds of one of them coming out of it undefeated are pretty slim. But there are some exceptions to the rule... Remember Auburn a few years back?
. - wbskeet37, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2No. Detroit just drafts WR's instead of QB's.
- fearr, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3You can't spell scum without UM.
Scalp 'em. Go Noles. - yacks, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4More NFL draftees come from big states? wow.. more population = more people = more football players = more chance to find a gem..
It's like saying there's more beautiful girls in California and Florida on average ignoring the fact that the weather gives more reasons for girls to stay in shape. - inactive, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2I thought for sure Wyoming would be near the top.
- MikeDirntRulez, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3Now it makes more sense. There is definitely a lot of talent year after year at LSU, most of them being 1st round picks. (Joseph Addai, JaMarcus Russell, Marcus Spears, etc.)
- drummy41, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3Every time I think of University of Miami, Kellen Winslow Jr.'s comment about being a "*****' soldier" comes to mind.
Classic. - BetterOffEd, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1It's somethin' in the gumbo...
. - lobofanina, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1If you're great you will be found, Brian Urlacher was drafted No. 9 in 2000 out of the University of New Mexico.
- BetterOffEd, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1Given the usual Digg protocol, the interactive really should've been the link:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/draft- ...
(For those of us with A.D.D. who didn't have the inclination to click on the link to the left)
. - BetterOffEd, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Already covered that. Multiple times.
- bamafun, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/draft- ...
- bri638, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1what are the populations of those states? coincidence?
- eyepatch100, on 04/22/2008, -3/+3dugg for infallible logic
- StrikerObi, on 04/22/2008, -3/+2Dugg for Deion Sanders. Go Noles! Also, Muck Fiami
- elevatedms, on 04/22/2008, -2/+0Wow, and I thought the USA Today Infographics were mind-blowing.
- exronin, on 04/22/2008, -3/+1This is pretty silly. Those 3 states do have a high percentage of US population as well. The weather plays a big factor too - party in Miami, or snow covered Wisconsin... hmm...
- JohnCrock, on 04/22/2008, -9/+6Hmm... interesting. These appear to be the states with the highest numbers of all-you-can-eat buffets per capita.
- rkdotan, on 06/06/2008, -7/+1University of Miami = NFL U
- slvrbullet87, on 04/22/2008, -7/+1Really because i thought most NFL players came from utah?
- eyepatch100, on 04/22/2008, -14/+3No comments, but front page?
