In spite of how large web 2.0 gets, people will still expect a level of accountability from their news sources that Joe Controversy (hereafter refered to as "eyeaml") which only exists when the journalist has something to lose by printing their false story. eyeaml has been embarassed on an internet website. Worst case scenario, someone mentions him awkwardly a week from now, and noone remembers who that is. Had he been working at ESPN.com, he would be called into the editor's office, chastised, and potentially fired, as a writer for a large news source speaks not only for himself, but his publication also.

    My future looks a little less bleak after reading this.
