- freshyill, on 07/14/2009, -2/+20JoePa is a class act.
- tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -6/+18WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- cms04t, on 07/14/2009, -1/+11What doesn't change is the FSU won those games. All college athletes receive "special' treatment; I'm not condoning cheating, but I seriously doubt Bowden told the tutor to give out answers to an online open book test. The blame in this situation is on those who cheated and the ones that supplied the answers.
- tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -1/+11What does that have to do with questionable recruiting practices? There are always bad apples, Penn State doesn't tolerate it. Those that were found guilty were punished (there have been people kicked off the team the past few years) and those that were let off were found INNOCENT.
Those players still had to work harder to get back to the depth chart positions there were just for being involved.
JoePa does things the right way, and he can't control everything an 18 year old KID does. He's suspended All Americans for bowl games for less offenses before. - anexanhume, on 07/14/2009, -2/+9Joe Paterno is awesome. After hip replacement surgery, the guy's jogging on the field with the players. It's going to take a hail of gunfire to take this guy out.
Plus, he also looks like Carl Fredricksen from Up. - tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -2/+8PENN STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- spanky6256000, on 07/14/2009, -10/+16Screw Bobby Bowden.

- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -0/+6THANK YOU!!!!!
- adam07, on 07/14/2009, -3/+9I hope Bobby Bowden gets to keep his wins but he needs to retire.
- psunut5, on 07/14/2009, -3/+8WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -1/+6It's funny, JoePa is just showing that he actually doesn't care about the record. He's adamantly denied caring about it for yearrs, while Bowden on the other hand is saying he wants to keep his wins so it will remain "competitive".
- abbasatpsu, on 07/14/2009, -2/+6Joe Pa !
- tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!!!
- tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -1/+5Terno !
- beerhound, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3Honest questions here, not a jab. Were any of those players starters or impact players off the bench? Were any of them borderline on academic eligibility so that their cheating keep them in games they wouldn't have been eligible to play? If they were 4th string players that only see playing time when the team is hopelessly behind or way ahead, then their cheating didn't affect the outcome of a game and FSU is being treated unfairly. If they were impact players and the cheating kept them playing when they wouldn't have otherwise, then stripping the wins is a fair punishment. It would suck for Bowden, but it is more about the integrity of the program than it is about his wins.
- jba68, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3I think that it is foolish to say he wont play as a qb. They said the same about Mcnabb.
the guy can play, and is smart, and appears to keep off the field crap from bothering him.
He may need some coaching, but he has the talent to play in the NFL. - PrismoFillusion, on 07/14/2009, -1/+4You sound like an Ohio Stater...
- SATCHMOblivious, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3"a Tim Tebow"-- not "Tim Tebow" ;)
FSU really fell from the power houses they were back in the day - abbasatpsu, on 07/14/2009, -1/+4PENN STATE !
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/14/2009, -4/+7Nothing unfair about it. Bowden may not have had a role in the scandal, but he did benefit from it.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -2/+4Rick is obviously a PSU-hater. And a moron.
Well said, tony. - psunut5, on 07/14/2009, -7/+9JOE-PA-TER-NO....JOE-PA-TER-NO....JOE-PA-TER-NO....JOE-PA-TER-NO....
WE ARE!!!!!! - fsu120, on 07/14/2009, -1/+3They were punished. All players involved were suspended over a third of the season as soon as this was discovered.
- SATCHMOblivious, on 07/14/2009, -2/+4It would take more than a Tim Tebow for FSU to become a decent football team now
- aaronfleishman, on 11/07/2009, -0/+2Actually, Joe has an incredible memory...just read some of his press conference stories. He's also probably forgotten more than you'll ever know.
- FeloniusMonkey, on 07/14/2009, -1/+3Most don't know this, but JoePa pronounced in Russian ("жопа") means "ass". Until I explained, my Russian girlfriend didn't understand why we'd invent such a disrespectful nickname for our coach.
- hillbillyboy07, on 07/14/2009, -1/+3Except now he has a great job.
- flip2trip, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2An online music test? Really? Well they should just shut the whole football program down then. /s
- CB810, on 07/14/2009, -5/+6If you cheat, you lose. Ask John Calipari...
- cms04t, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3No, punishing Bowden and the rest of the team is not the same thing as punishing those who cheated, and why the talk about taking away their track championships, what did that have to do with some football players cheating. They are affecting too many people, blowing this way out of proportion.
- tonytroz, on 07/14/2009, -4/+5PENN STATE!!!!!!!!!!
- pjnissim, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3It's absurd that Bobby is getting penalized so harshly. He brought up many of the issues going on with his team to the NCAA, so that he could take care of things internally. It's not his fault his ignorant players are breaking out into fights in our student union over ex girlfriends or cheating so poorly on tests (yes, cheating poorly. how do a handful of players get 100% in less than 4 minutes on a final exam. that's how you cheat if you are a dumb ass idiot.)
thank you - inactive, on 07/14/2009, -6/+7***** Florida.
- sudhu, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3You do know Tebow plays for University of Florida (UF) not Florida State University (FSU), right?
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2***** the RIAA, ***** the MPAA, yes, but ALSO ***** the NCAA. ***** THE NCAA!
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1That, is *hilarious.*
Gonna have to remember that one. - casspa, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3"Bobby Bowden"...not Bodden...Typo
- psunut5, on 07/14/2009, -3/+3Ummm what? By not punishing them, you ARE condoning it.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/15/2009, -1/+1No, it's more like the kid GAVE some of the money to the parents...
- Fleagleman, on 07/14/2009, -2/+2In other news, Joe Pa can't remember where he parked, goddammit.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -1/+1Yeah, its like parents getting all pissed off at the police when their kids deal drug and launder some of the money to them (even if they dont really know about it).
- jba68, on 07/14/2009, -2/+1second best?
- psunut5, on 07/14/2009, -1/+0Tebow is a good college player. He wont see a down in the pros at QB. I dont think he fits in any other role other than LB or a big safety.
- jba68, on 07/14/2009, -2/+1Of the Florida schools I would tend to root for FSU the most, but for years now they have had scandal after scandal. If there was just one incident then you could say that its not his fault. But after continually having his players get into these situations it is clear that he has knowledge of what they do, or that he lacks the ability to control them. So he for sure is not blameless.
- flyinggerbil, on 07/14/2009, -3/+0Bowden has run a dirty program for years. If anything they should be docking more "wins." They can also take away all those Samford wins he likes to count toward his total. That's like including high school or junior high victories in any win tally.
fSucksU - inactive, on 07/14/2009, -4/+1OH MAN!! I was just about to digg your comment up.
What a dilemma!
Oh hell.... +1 for the JoePa props. - KrazyGamerHead, on 07/14/2009, -9/+5F-L-O-R-I-D-A S-T-A-T-E
FLORIDA STATE! FLORIDA STATE! FLORIDA STATE!
WOO! - DangerousP, on 07/14/2009, -9/+4JoePa's right. They should really be taking away more wins. Bowden's been a cheating piece of ***** for years.
