Packers beat Raiders, clinch NFC North
scores.espn.go.com — The Green Bay Packers didn't need Brett Favre to throw the ball all over the field to clinch the NFC North on Sunday, relying on the running of Ryan Grant and a pair of special teams touchdowns from Will Blackmon in a 38-7 victory over the Oakland Raiders.

- sullyj, on 12/10/2007, -5/+9Lovie Smith is that you?
- bingobongony, on 12/10/2007, -5/+20Tell that joke at recess tomorrow. You will be the hit of 4th grade. Careful though. Don't try telling that to the 6th graders. They will call you childish and immature.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 12/10/2007, -0/+7Buried for lying; sixth graders say stuff like that all the time.
- c0n724ll10n, on 12/10/2007, -13/+2Wow, Digg is sure serious business when it comes to football...or anything else someone tries to joke about.
- meed, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2You got it wrong. The Name is "Fudge Packers"
- Submerge, on 12/10/2007, -12/+56Nice win, but let us get a chance at the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Now that our defensive roster is healthy (especially KGB & Woodson), we are a contender.
- znutz, on 12/10/2007, -5/+3you got it! Go Pack go! I have extra playoff tickets if anyone is interested
- ChaosProfessor, on 12/10/2007, -5/+1how i don't even know if i got them for sure yet!

- rAid135, on 12/10/2007, -14/+11Sure, I'll happily watch the packers be a "contender" and then get owned by my pats :)
- zenmasher, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Go Pats! Again hahahaha
- Rethcir, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1Please don't stoop to the "my team"ism.. it makes everyone look bad
- Midvicious, on 12/10/2007, -19/+1Jesus, the patriots. I need to create an imaginary football team, GallantCity Impossibles: http://gallant.myminicity.com/ or something to beat them. They're unstoppable it seems!
- Jibberwalk, on 12/10/2007, -0/+8Did you just really spam an online video-game on Digg to increase your cities stature? That's all kinds of massive lame.
- meed, on 12/10/2007, -1/+3You forget they will probably have to play the Cowboys again IN Dallas. Which if you look at the history, Bret Farve has never been able to win there.
- didiman, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1The packers would have absolutely no chance against the patriots...they are in a different league.

- threemagic, on 12/10/2007, -13/+6The Dallas Cowboys also have something to say... and they've said it once already.
- benbenbenben, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Keep in mind that the Pack, without Favre, STILL managed to score 28 points in Dallas. The Lions only scored 27, and they were in Detroit yesterday.
- meed, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1Bret has a horrable Track record in Texas Stadium, and since both The Cowboys and the Fudge Packers have clinched, guess who's gonna have to play in Dallas against the Cowboys...
- benbenbenben, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Still 3 games left in the season, bud. And guess what? The Packers have a very good chance of winning all 3. Cowboys slip up and who know what could happen.

- shackbar, on 12/10/2007, -0/+5I'm shocked this made the front page. Who knew there were so many Packers fans here?
- swingerbone, on 12/10/2007, -0/+5Probably because Kevin Rose is a Packers Fan.... just my thought...
- dyslexicsUNTIED, on 12/10/2007, -13/+26this is news? who can't beat the raiders?
- Buddhist, on 12/10/2007, -2/+12Kansas City (almost won against them both times), Denver (should have won against them both times), Cleveland, Miami
They also had close games against Minnesota (22-29), Houston (17-24), & Tennessee (9-13).- didiman, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Miami shouldn't even count, they would have a hard time beating a college team this year.
- mal1964, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Look a little to right of that, also below the headline.
- c0baltfish, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3It's not that they beat the Raiders, it's they beat the Raiders to win division. That's what matters, they're going to playoffs and probably getting home-field advantage most of the way.
- Buddhist, on 12/10/2007, -2/+12Kansas City (almost won against them both times), Denver (should have won against them both times), Cleveland, Miami
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -30/+11Doesn't matter, Cowboys are going to destroy them again in the NFC Championship Game.
- duke_nate, on 12/10/2007, -11/+234-37. not quite the score most people think of when they hear DESTROY.
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -5/+7The score was 37-27. what game were you watching?
- halofourteen, on 12/10/2007, -5/+3Still, 10 points isn't quite destroying.
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -5/+5Did you watch the game or are you just pulling things out of your ass?
If you watched the game you would know that Cowboys dominated the whole game. - aeiou, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2Sure, "dominated" without threee of the packers best players.
- swingerbone, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2And the Cowboys didn't have NT Ferguson, WR Terry Glenn, and CB Anthony Henry wasn't starting... all teams have injuries, it's how you overcome them that makes you a great team. The better team won. If Favre had stayed in who knows how many INTs he would have thrown.
- scubasteve377, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2A series of ***** calls, all magically favoring Dallas, couldn't have had anything to do with it either, right?
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -5/+7The score was 37-27. what game were you watching?
- tinman79, on 12/10/2007, -1/+4If Woodson had played, that game would have been much different, as it will be next time they meet.
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -3/+0Every team has injuries, don't use that as an excuse for losing.
- cerberus414, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Except, it does change the game when key people are out like KGB, Woodson and geee Brett Favre......
- c0baltfish, on 12/10/2007, -1/+1Um, Terry Glenn anyone?
- novaj666, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2yes with 3 players it we all most bet them and cowboys almost lost to the lions they shouldnt be allowed in the playoffs after that game
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -3/+0Hmm, Packers actually lose to the Bears who have a worse record than Detroit who Dallas beat. Oh and Dallas did beat GB too right?
- novaj666, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1no not at all get the fact right douche
- QUAKthunder, on 12/10/2007, -3/+0Hmm, Packers actually lose to the Bears who have a worse record than Detroit who Dallas beat. Oh and Dallas did beat GB too right?
- duke_nate, on 12/10/2007, -11/+234-37. not quite the score most people think of when they hear DESTROY.
- rz8472, on 12/10/2007, -15/+5Beat the Raiders? That's like saying the Dolphins will win.
And this is front page news how? - nestcrw, on 12/10/2007, -11/+2Somehow I read patriots when I glanced at the title. I got really excited for nothing.
- jwoelmer2, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2and you'd be excited that the pats won one MORE game?...
- nestcrw, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1I actually meant that the patriots lost, but its alright.
- didiman, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2You must have been dreaming, maybe next year.

GO PACK- knute5, on 12/10/2007, -6/+12Kevin Rose is a Packer fan. I believe an ancestor played for them. And they are the greatest football team in NFL history...
- ChaosProfessor, on 12/10/2007, -3/+8thats kinda cool that Kevin likes the pac
- Wamzlee, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2Yup, Kevin's uncle Bob Rose use to be a Center back in the day on the team (if I recall)
- dustinhansen, on 12/10/2007, -4/+11They are America's team!
- swingerbone, on 12/10/2007, -9/+4Sorry try again - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America's_Team - Go Cowboys!
- meed, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1I believe that is the Cowboy's Title. You guys are known as the Fudge Packers or the Cheese Heads, take your pick.

- theragu40, on 12/10/2007, -3/+5Also because the Packers are awesome.
- ItsMyWii, on 12/10/2007, -7/+1I still root for the Pats and cry for the Dolphins.
- RyanBlueThunder, on 12/10/2007, -5/+17As a Cowboys fan, I am glad to see the Packers winning...it brings back many fond memories...
Brett Favre is a real competitor. I would like to see a rematch of the Cowboys-Packers in the NFL Championship (and a Cowboys-Patriots Superbowl rematch)- chadu, on 12/10/2007, -2/+3um, packers meet cowboys again and it won't be TO getting the TDs. I think it will be the 3 time MVP Brett Favre.
- BGog, on 12/10/2007, -0/+5I totally agree. I'm a packer fan but I always loved the cowboy fans who came to town when I lived in GB. It'll be a great NFC champ game resulting in a packer-pat superbowl.
(thought I must say I frigging HATE Terrel Owens. My wife is a 49er fan and he was such a jackass when he was here) - posure, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4I hope both teams are healthy in the NFC championship, KGB and Woodson out for the previous Dallas game was a big loss for our defense.
- zenmasher, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2And another ring for the Patriots
- videographer, on 12/10/2007, -9/+3Yeah, it would be sweet, but I don't see *anyone* beating the Pats.
Too bad the Plowboys came back to sneak past Detroit today. - TwoLOUD, on 12/10/2007, -19/+9ATTENTION GREEN BAY FANS! You wont get past Dallas..sorry your season will be over when you meet Dallas. Congrats on your win tho. Dallas clinched as well.
- MaxUSA, on 12/10/2007, -4/+1Mabye; maybe not. Living in Green Bay myself, I honestly hope that we do, but in all reality it'll be a big challenge.
- beargrylls, on 12/10/2007, -2/+8Because Dallas looked so great today...
- threemagic, on 12/10/2007, -1/+6No.. because Dallas got up to play Green Bay.. they slept through today's game. And because the Cowboys beat Green Bay.. the game is indoors and on the turf instead of the tundra. As a Packer fan, I'm sure you realize the difference in Favre's record indoors vs outdoors.
- aeiou, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1whatever. Favre can do just fine indoors. He won the biggest game of his life indoors.
- swingerbone, on 12/10/2007, -3/+1Favre in Texas Stadium: 0-9

GO VIKES GO!- GlueSniffer, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1Only dugg down to -8? What kind of packers fans are you!
- xXGeechXx, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1was that Ruvell Martins first, second, or third TD catch against the vikings?
- ClarkNoHeart, on 12/10/2007, -14/+9For all those saying they are going to the Super Bowl, I can't see them getting past the Cowboys in the playoffs.
Also, why is it news that the Packers beat a terrible team?- AUGTRON, on 12/10/2007, -2/+4Lions very nearly beat the Cowboy's this afternoon. With TO playing like *****, I see no reason why Farve and the Pacs shouldn't walk right over Romo and the Cowboys.
- minoss, on 12/10/2007, -2/+3That and having Woodson healthy will help a ton. We didn't lose by much to the Cowboys considering all the injuries.
- robbh66, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2TO didn't suck by any means, they had him well covered all day.
And because they had to devote so much to covering him- Jason Whitten ran all over their asses this afternoon.
- BGog, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1If you've watched any football in your life you know that winning one game in NO way ensures you'll win the next one against that oponent. I think it's pretty silly to say they don't have a chance against the cowboys. Both teams are doing very very well this year. Not to mention that Favre was injured during their last matchup. I think either team could win.
- ClarkNoHeart, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1Correction: Favre was not injured; they injured Favre. He was healthy going into the game.
- AUGTRON, on 12/10/2007, -2/+4Lions very nearly beat the Cowboy's this afternoon. With TO playing like *****, I see no reason why Farve and the Pacs shouldn't walk right over Romo and the Cowboys.
- f4nt0m4s, on 12/10/2007, -9/+8The Packers look gooood this year. Better than the Cowboys I think, especially considering that Farve doesn't have the same weapons that Romo has. On a related note, the Patriots looked like a machine today against the Steelers. Brady had what, 399 yards? If the Packers wind up playing the Patriots in the Super Bowl, Favre is going to have to be on top of his game. But hey, if the Ravens and the Eagles can almost stop the Patriots, why can't the Packers. As a Bear's fan watching the Bear's epically fail this season, I'm rooting for Green Bay as the NFC team to hopefully win it all for the NFC. The NFC is due to win a Super Bowl.
- robbh66, on 12/10/2007, -2/+3You do realize the Cowboys soundly beat them...10 days ago...
- arial, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2They beat an injured team playing their backup QB throughout most of the game by only 10 points. So a rematch can go either way with a healthy Dallas and GB team.
- Sarumiso, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1Rogers played better than Favre in that game. He just can't win in Dallas...
- c0baltfish, on 12/10/2007, -0/+3Rodgers played fine, Dallas has a better and more experienced team right now.
- posure, on 12/10/2007, -2/+1Like arial said, GB wasn't healthy (KGB and Woodson, two of GB's best pass defense players, were out). Not that the Packers deserved to win that game anyways (what was with the crazy play calling in the first quarter?), but to be fair, the 10 points that Dallas beat them by were both off of bad referee calls.
- arial, on 12/10/2007, -1/+2They beat an injured team playing their backup QB throughout most of the game by only 10 points. So a rematch can go either way with a healthy Dallas and GB team.
- Wamzlee, on 12/10/2007, -0/+2I hate to dwell on a past game, but I would like to say that the Packers played entirely different than what they had been playing all year when they played Dallas. Regardless of that fact, I appreciate that the Packers didn't care about losing, and were already looking forward to next week.
- robbh66, on 12/10/2007, -2/+3You do realize the Cowboys soundly beat them...10 days ago...
- pharcide, on 12/10/2007, -4/+20perfect superbowl for me would be the pats and GB and GB winning, and bret retiring
- chadu, on 12/10/2007, -0/+5why does Brett have to retire to make it perfect? I will miss him!
- Anzat, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2He's not retiring this year. He has too much fun with it. I don't think he's gonna be one of the "going out on top" kinda guys. He's gonna keep playing til he needs a wheelchair.
- Wamzlee, on 12/10/2007, -1/+1I would assume he would retire, since his contract is up, but then again, I think he knows that he wouldn't be able to come back once he does retire.
- hcjake, on 12/10/2007, -0/+0He signed a 10 year contract in 2001. How is his contract up now?
- redDC143C, on 12/10/2007, -9/+8Go, Bears, g... forget it..
- Vapor17, on 12/10/2007, -11/+6In other news, the patriots are still undefeated
- jahnkeuxo, on 12/10/2007, -7/+5I don't see why this is worthy of the front page, but being from Green Bay, I can't complain.
But they really should've pulled Brett in the fourth to give Rodgers some play time. I mean, come on, you're up by 24 points, and Favre's coming off an injury. Especially since Rodgers outperformed him last week in Dallas.- daworld, on 12/10/2007, -4/+1yeah...an injury that was non-existent.
- chadu, on 12/10/2007, -1/+1what exactly are you saying?
- videographer, on 12/10/2007, -1/+9Rogers is hurt, pulled a hamstring in practice last week.
- pschommer, on 12/10/2007, -0/+8Ummm, Rodgers was hurt and unavailable for today's game. Craig Nall was the second on the depth chart today. (Yes, the same Craig Nall that GB cut earlier this year.)
Would have been the perfect situation to sit #4 in the fourth quarter, though.- Dreadan, on 12/10/2007, -5/+2you mean in 2005
- Wamzlee, on 12/10/2007, -0/+4Packers didn't cut Craig Nall at all, he left for Free Agency a year or two ago to play starter for the Buffalo Bills, but an injury kept him from starting. So he kind of floated around until the Packers called him up last week.
Also, they were warming up Craig Nall, but the Raiders decided to run out the clock.
- daworld, on 12/10/2007, -4/+1yeah...an injury that was non-existent.

- joewashere, on 12/10/2007, -6/+11normally i disagree with a lotta the crazy obsessions on digg. but as a lifelong fan of the packers...i love this obsession.
GO PACK GO. - c0baltfish, on 12/10/2007, -9/+3Sorry, Cowboys are the better team, but regardless if the Packers represent the NFC I want them to win.
- gdgi, on 12/10/2007, -12/+4why does this ***** show up even if i have all of the sports categories set to '***** off' in my digg preferences?
file in the who-*****-cares category - Yaklord, on 12/10/2007, -9/+1How is this tech related? I'm a mega nerd so I *don't* have to keep track of this sort of thing, TYVM.
- savethemooses, on 12/10/2007, -1/+5Digg is more than just tech stories now, unless ya didn't notice.
- aeiou, on 12/10/2007, -1/+3Well then BLOCK THE SPORTS SECTION! since you're such a "mega nerd," as you say, I'm sure you can figure out how to do it.
- alvinhokid, on 12/10/2007, -17/+11one word. Patriots.
- mal1964, on 12/10/2007, -7/+1saying "one word" is necessary for the affect, don't you think?

- swingerbone, on 12/10/2007, -4/+4two words - caught cheating
- mal1964, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2Slap on hand!
- theparttime, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2bonds cheated, belichick cheated. who cares! everyone tries to win. you still have to go out and win. its not like the refs calling the game wrong or somebody throwing the game. the competitors are trying to compete. i'm not saying what belichick did is ok, but its really not that big of a deal.
back to the story, i'm happy for brett favre and the packers season. it's great to watch. the cowboys packers playoff game will be a good watch.- c0baltfish, on 12/10/2007, -2/+2Actually, it is kind of a big deal. Pro sports are played to win, but you cannot allow someone to gain an advantage that forces everyone else who wants to catch up to harm themselves (i.e. steroids). Also there has to be integrity in any game, even wars have rules to abide by. You don't know much about sports or else you would understand.
