- rastakid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Well someone has a case of the Mondays...
- zeromancer, on 10/10/2007, -10/+18if only you had a brain in your head. high school football matters to the 2000 kids in each high school that has a team. every friday night for 4 years, these young men strap up their helmets and give it their all for 3 solid hours. every day of every week these kids work their asses off so they can play under the lights on friday night. these athletes are working year round for something that 'does not matter for anything'. since you've obviously never played a high school sport in your life, what's more important to you than high school football is to these kids? being smug on the internet?
- fuzzmello, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9oh you tease! tell us the name of your fabulous private secondary school. you know you're dying to.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Your high school has its own NFL team?
- atbnet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Read the article jackass.
"Independence took over the nation's longest winning streak after Concord (Calif.) De La Salle's loss in 2004 ended a 151-game winning streak." - sully213, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Do I really have to say it?
RTFA! - EuphopiaB, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7To them, football matters. To me, education and understanding matters. To others, other things matter.
The goal of life isn't to fulfill some greater meaning and purpose. Do what you like and/or want to do, then you die. If they want to run in circles and into one another, I don't care, it simply isn't my cup of tea.
"To each, his own" I believe. - dtraneighty8, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5I hate to break it to ya, but the Bengals do not suck. You guys have a definite playoff team with Palmer back. At least your team doesn't depend on a rookie: Calvin Johnson.
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Carolina Football, stronger than you thought...First App. State and until just recently a 109 game winning streak for a High school team? What's in the water over there...
- qverb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4ok the De La Salle streak was more, but that streak ended in 2004. This is not inaccurate as it was the end to the CURRENT longest winning streak. The report does NOT say the longest win streak ever so please stop with the INACCURATE replies.
- zeedle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Elder has always been a bad ass team. HS Football in Cincinnati is very competitive, and if any team could break that record, Elder would be up there in the ranks.
- zeromancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4if i may, some of us are more well rounded individuals than others. instead of digging all day or hax0ring all night or fapping to pr0n in between, some of us are coordinated enough to play sports, and therefore have interest in such events. that and sports is a much bigger market than LOLcats....
- zeromancer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5and again, i'm going to reiterate: hey *****. that 151 game win streak ended in 2004. so the nation's longest running win streak DID JUST END. awful jackass.
- kosmoX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Independence beat my high school football team in the state title a few years back. Their quarterback at the time was Chris Leak, who went on to Florida and now the Chicago Bears.
- trer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6I remember when De La Salle had the longest winning streak. I used to watch them practice at lunch from my high school across the way (not Carondelet, the public high school across the way).
- will592, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Cincinnati Elder broke Independance's winning streak with the 41-34 overtime victory. The wording doesn't make this terribly clear unless you already know that Cincinnati wasn't the school with the winning streak.
- jamesrdorn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Remember, this is the state that is trying to help Asia and "The Iraq" with education because we cant find the US American country on the map.
- Q8ball, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Nothing compares to Cincinnati's GCL conference and Colrain
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I bet you're in better shape than I am...That'll count for something
- jaygray, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Ummm...if you went to Elder...doesn't that mean that your high school ended the win streak and weren't the ones to actually win that many times?
- atbnet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Elder is a very good team. Two years ago my alma matter was beating Elder 35-0 and Elder almost pulled out a win in the fourth quarter, it was pretty crazy. The same year St X beat us in the state championship game. It's good to see some of that talent travel up 71 to Ohio State though.
- K3ITHK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3hax.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Did you just reply to yourself, "You idiot..."?
- alastria, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Here in Charlotte, everyone was sad to see the streak end. They hadn't lost a game in 7+ years. But, if you're going to lose, its better to lose some meaningless season opener in an all-star national tournament.
- baddog121390, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The De La Salle football coach was my little league baseball coach one year. we lost every single game that season
- Devz0r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i believe that was south carolina, not north carolina
- Shaunt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I don't play football but I play waterpolo and although I know its not going to directly translate into a career or anything practical, the lessons it has taught me about hard work and working together certainly have had as great of an impact on me as any math class. So yeah, it does matter for something.
- kevinHaney, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2wtf! Thats where my dad went to school!
- kevinwiz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ya there should only be sections for video games and gadgets because we all love to sit around and play with those all day.
/sarcasm - shibbay, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2De La Salle?
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/football/2004-09-05-delasalle-loss_x.htm - endersadvocate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1there are some teams in florida and texas that manage it though. Lakeland is at 46 straight and teams like warren central have strong competition but still win.
- VonCannon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That ended in 2004. Independence held the longest CURRENT streak until 9/1/2007.
- endersadvocate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1ah, so you must remember last year when lakeland went up there. ST. X got their asses handed to them. (9 of them went to UF)
dreadnaughts ftw. 46-0
we have a young team this year though, so we will probably lose. - JorgeGonzalez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The Panthers have existed for only 12 years and have been to more Super Bowls than the Browns, Cardinals, and Lions, teams that have existed for decades.
- banz23, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2You forget to mention St. Xavier who is ranked #4 in the nation and just destroyed the #5 ranked team DeMatha 28 - 7. In Cincinnati there is the GCL league that has St. Xavier, Elder, Moeller, and LaSalle. The GCL is considered one of the top leagues in the nation.
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If they're anything like the Panthers, the players are more worried about how many criminal records they can rack up than how many Superbowls they could win.
- Marijuana, on 10/10/2007, -6/+7^Agreed.
- zeromancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1digg my ***** down. it was directed at this guy: http://digg.com/football/Nation_s_longest_High_School_football_win_streak_ends_at_109?t=8935979#c8936109
many apologies. i hate being a dick to people that don't deserve it. - qverb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That win streak was from 3 years ago. This report is for the longest current win streak. This story is NOT inacurate.
- donkeyshow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1reminds me of the old proverb: a redneck and his streak, are soon parted
- trer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Graduated 1998. I guess they practiced more while they were on their winning streak. I used to see them through the bushes while walking through that back away where the canal is behind the 100, 300, and 500 wings. Go Warriors.
- samadam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2My high school played Elder every few years. They were pretty damn good. I doubt we ever won, but I am sure we were competetive.
- sgtpppr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Well, for the football players...it is very important. Mainly because after they graduate, they'll be spending the next 40 years changing oil at JiffyLube.
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Who says football players "cannot do what you are supposed to do in SCHOOL"? Lots of football players are smart guys....I know some people who played in high school, then went to college(on academic scholarships) and later got a PhD...
- petebert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0just a guess, but you really dont watch american football do you?
- pRohphet8, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Leak was cut yesterday. Maybe he will be re-signed by the Bears if he doesn't get picked up on waivers from another team.
- kmg9000, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Thats a long streak
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Get a room you two!
I _hate_ that guy! - TGMD, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Kids are in school to learn, not to play damned football.
I've met too many people who only glory they've ever known was in high school football, it's quite sad. These people ignored all their schooling, got passes from teachers simply because they were good at football. No No, High school football doesn't count for anything. It may be entertaining and I encourage sporting events but to focus on it the way so many people do is sad. -
