- bixby1, on 11/18/2008, -1/+43I'm going to lose in my fantasy league this week because of that *****. God, I have no life.
- RG13, on 11/18/2008, -2/+35Fun Fact: apparently, in over 12,000 NFL games, none had ever ended in 11-10 (until last Sunday)
- mac888, on 11/18/2008, -3/+27Ya pays your nickle and takes ya chances.
- quomen, on 11/18/2008, -0/+18Great and appropriate thumbnail!
- Surferess, on 11/18/2008, -0/+17It was a very strange way to end a football game.
- tbhurst, on 11/18/2008, -1/+16I lost a parlay because of this.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -2/+15god damn it refereeeeeee.
- ScottyAnimal, on 11/18/2008, -0/+10Actually you are betting on the outcome of the game. Officials = part of game. End of story.
- bizsumpark182, on 11/18/2008, -0/+9Like it was said on ESPN, the decision only affected two people, the one who bet on the game and the one who had the Steelers D starting on their fantasy team.
- shauncorleone, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8There will be a little more than gambler outrage if the Steelers are fighting for a wildcard spot and barely miss the playoffs due to the point differential tie-breaker. Is it unlikely? Absolutely. But would it be hilarious? Absolutely.
- RodgerE1, on 11/18/2008, -2/+10Go Steelers!
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8That last interception had my neighbor screaming loud enough to shake the windows.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+9No... the definition of gambling is "to bet on an uncertain outcome". So there you go... it's uncertain.
- Jeepy, on 11/18/2008, -2/+9Screw the betting aspect, what about the fact that Polamalu had a touchdown taken away after working his ass off all game and making toughest interception of the season? Good job NFL way to strip stats away from a player who hustled all game just so you could have a "historic" score.
- skaface69, on 11/18/2008, -1/+8that comment might have made sense if this happened in new york, but it happened in pittsburgh. change east river with either Ohio, Allegheny, or Monongahela, your pick.
- kublerross, on 11/18/2008, -2/+9because we all know that the only corrupt official in all of professional sports was that basketball guy, and well, he's been caught so sports is pure and honest again!
- AmericanGunner, on 11/18/2008, -2/+8Somebody lost money on betting? Blasphemy.
- zigardne, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5so its now football 35 - soccer 1.
- Scrappy1850, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4you sure she wasnt just getting the high hard one?
- Akairenn, on 11/18/2008, -3/+7Just cast Wish and carefully word the spell to ensure that the Steelers won, but didn't all die from having a herd of cattle fall on them or something. DMs can be treacherous like that.
Wait, I thought you said 'fantasy'. - DickyT83, on 11/18/2008, -2/+5Guess you chose the wrong pirate.
- DocDEB, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4Of course nobody is talking about the guy who didn't take the spread and bet straight up on the score Steelers 11 Chargers 10.
- hawksfan03, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2if you think the officials could have 'rigged' this play up then i feel sorry for you. Not a chance this game was fixed.
- asgardshill, on 11/18/2008, -4/+6Whoopsie. I know an NFL official who very well might be found taking a leisurely swim in the East River with a concrete block chained around his neck.
- diemunkiesdie, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2To ague against instant replay is just stupid. It has saved people from making errors and making a bad call hundreds of times. The problem this time wasn't with instant replay, it was with them not being allowed to go and look at the replay a second time and verify what they thought. If they had looked again they would have seen that the score should have counted.
Also, soccer sucks. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+3It must suck to be such a huge tool, no wonder you are so full of nerd rage.
- obliviousfool, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1I won a parlay because of this.
- monkeysama, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1I've deemed you unknowledgeable as to what "deem" means.
- ShugNinx21, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Referees in the NFL are not disciplined in public. It is very possible they some have been fined, and reprimanded for making awful calls.
The NFL is very strict to keep any and all criticism concerning the officiating behind closed doors. If there is a problem it is dealt with out of the eye of the media and public. Players, Coaches, Owners and all other members of the NFL are heavily fined when they make comments concerning the Officiating crew to the public. - Bravesguy18, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Hey I know! I'll bet on the score that has never happened in the history of the NFL. Do you accept food stamps?
- asgardshill, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Buick might have pulled out of golf, but they haven't pulled out of La Cosa Nostra.
Monogahela might have worked except everybody knows you don't swim in it, you dance ON it. - DickyT83, on 11/18/2008, -2/+3Proceeds went to the Ed Hoculi Foundation.
- Bravesguy18, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1no matter what, one mob is going after this guy.
- matt.rubin, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Thats the second ***** up this year for the Chargers
- ShadoeWolfe, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Take away the gambling aspect of this - the NFL referees constantly screwing up is the issue here. They are given instant reply so they can watch plays in slow motion from multiple angles and they STILL screw up and are not penalized for it! Why are there not FULL-TIME officials that are held to some kind of standard by the NFL like they hold their players to? I have never understood this.
What if the Steelers were down by one point and the exact same play happened. The touchdown gives them a win, but the refs rule it illegal so they lose the game. The next day when they admit their mistake, would that have given the Steelers the win then? Just because it didn't change the outcome since the Steelers were ahead by one instead of behind, it doesn't change the fact the touchdown COUNTED and the official score of the game needs changed to 17-10. This of course is just my humble opinion. - mkauff, on 11/18/2008, -2/+2i lost 55 on it. sucks for me! ive been kicked in the nuts 100x betting on games but this was the strangest one ive ever seen. i just dont understand how that could happen.
- KayIslandDrunk, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1In all honesty I'm surprised this doesn't happen more in real life. You figure with some stressed out person putting all their life's money on games like this. It'd be that kind of person not to take responsibility for his/her own actions and blame the ref for all their problems.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+0All NFL games are fixed anyway...
- trc0, on 11/18/2008, -2/+2Actually, that's why they call it fisting... complements of Vegas
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+0Most underreported aspect of the "gambling" angle - spreads tend to sway so that 50% gambles one way, and the other 50% gambles the other way. The reason for this is because each bet has juice taken out of it, so if I bet $110 on a game and I win, I get $100 back. If I bet $110 and lose, I lose all $110. When $100 million is bet on a game, bookies and Vegas are getting at least $10 million if the bets are split close to 50/50. When the public jumps all over a bet and the line does not move, which is what happened in the Steelers game, that's when "professional" handicappers jump the other way. So over 60% of gamblers took the Steelers this week, which means a Steelers win would actually cause Vegas to lose money on this game. A Chargers win would have them bank at least $20 million.
Does this mean anything? No, it just adds to all the smoke. But I'm shocked no one has explained the problem fully. - katy82, on 01/28/2009, -0/+0find how to win and not loose your money.

- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+0So ... that's what Gaylene McFagglebottoms do on Sunday night??
.... watch Obama interviews and play with themselves ... NICE! - NMBRealEstate, on 11/20/2008, -0/+0If protested the score could be changed because the clock went to 0 on that play. It should be changed because the players deserve that touchdown. If gambling is legal ( and it is in some places) I believe the gamblers should have a recourse to sue the NFL to correct the score. This is a correctable mistake. Why don't they correct it?
- DirtyMuslims, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0Idiot. You don't seem to learn from your own mistakes. You are deemed to fail.
- MasterQ, on 11/18/2008, -3/+2Yinz goes dahntahn to pay your nickels to bet on the Stillers
- jellygraph, on 11/18/2008, -6/+4gambling is stupidity, so I don't feel sorry for them
