- georgep, on 12/02/2008, -1/+6FTA: "All six were punished for using a diuretic, which can serve as a masking agent for steroids."
"Deuce, Will, and Charles did not try to enhance their performance with steroids, nor did they knowingly expose themselves to the adverse health risks of a diuretic," their lawyer said "They took a weight loss supplement that they had every reason to believe was safe."
In their appeals, some players said the banned substance Bumetanide was not listed as an ingredient in StarCaps, an over-the-counter weight-loss pill. However, StarCaps had been on the list of prohibited dietary supplement companies since at least December 2006.
Note: Even coffee or tobacco act as diuretics.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diuretic (not so helpful, as it was apparently written by/for doctors) - HyphySoul, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4I always think of Will Smith when I hear Will Smith
- deadsenator, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3You ever seen the size of a long snapper? They're huge!
...wait for it... - cobrapeed, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2This definately won't help the Vikings playoff hopes, and only 2 days after they took the top in the NFC Central. The core of their league leading run defence is out for the rest of the regular season plus any potential playoff run.
- erichh, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Shame on the NFL for suspending these guys. Did the NFL even do any research on StarCaps. The banned substance is not listed at all. How can you punish players for taking a banned substance if the banned substance ISN'T LABELED. The league really needs to check itself for next year. Horrible officiating around the board, terrible fines for legal hits (all in the sake of player safety...my butt), and suspensions to players who don't deserve it.
- iiiichaos, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2The Saints are done.
- SSPink, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2Really NFL, a long snapper? Does anyone actually believe the long snapper was juicing?
The NFL needs to take a serious look at it's substance policies, HGH use is reportedly running rampant, but they're suspending people for having a diuretic in their system? The league just keeps getting bigger and bigger without consequence but Ricky Williams is one positive test for cannabis away from a lifetime ban.
The NFL's drug policy is a prime example of how to look like you're doing something when you're really not doing anything productive at all. - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1It will be interesting to see what players in the NFL look like ten years from now. Who'd have ever thought the league would start to care about PED?
- yacks, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Go grab me a bottle of vodka mixed with coffee and a carton of cigarettes to smoke after..
Oh yeah, you forgot about alcohol.. - whoreable, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1I also abuse substances so I am really getting a kick out of these replies.
- williamlee, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1*****. I hate to agree with you. But, damnit, I'll hold out faith as long as we got Brees and Shockey. (PS: We're kinda used to not winning them all.)
- ULBouzi, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1If we would have beaten the Bucs, I would be crying. But all my tears are shed already. "Wait until next year."
- zoydberg, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1I think of Katt Williams when I hear Kevin and Pat Williams
- TigerStar337, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Oh, my!
- dravo2, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Did the NFL ban the use of the manufactuer or the Diuretic itself it's kind of foggy to me, I don't condone drug use in the NFL, but it should not overshadow the good the league does with charities etc.
- fletchsd, on 12/03/2008, -2/+1Deuce is definately on the juice.
- smrekar, on 12/03/2008, -2/+1Hopefully AP will have more touches, due to the quick scores on their def.

- jfdolier, on 12/03/2008, -4/+2"Deuce, Will, and Charles did not try to enhance their performance with steroids, nor did they knowingly expose themselves to the adverse health risks of a diuretic," their lawyer said.
