- cubbiesx, on 12/26/2008, -7/+89I, for one, was absolutely horrified when Welker made the snow angel...horrified.
- empiricalKing, on 12/26/2008, -2/+65Ridiculous, I saw it live and thought it was in good taste. The NFL needs to reexamine some of its crazy rules.
- rabidlemur, on 12/26/2008, -0/+46Think how I felt, my children were watching! It's bad enough they were subjected to watching the Arizona Cardinals but then that disgusting snow angel, I don't know how much counseling they will need, I can only hope it will be enough.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -2/+32This is ridiculous... Do they realize as a fan I LIKE to see this stuff? I turn in for the celebrations and what not... Its starting to turn me off... Dont give me sportsmanship crap either, they are men and stuff thats said on the field is a lot worse...
- Pantzaroff, on 12/26/2008, -3/+27***** THE RIAA... I mean NFL
- tommyjwall, on 12/26/2008, -2/+25As a Packer fan, I'm wondering how long its going to be before the No Fun League starts fining players for the Lambeau Leap.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -2/+24Yeah, the NFL is getting ridiculous with the fines they're throwing at some of these players. I think that throwing a packed piece of snow into the stands may warrant more disciplinary action than a fine, considering it was the same amount for making a snow angel.
- slvrbullet87, on 12/26/2008, -0/+21The packers have to score a touchdown first
- quacker912, on 12/26/2008, -4/+21NFL is simply losing fans by taking fun out of the league.
- jamwil87, on 12/26/2008, -2/+18Man I thought that this didn't warrant the 15 yard penalty they got.
And now this.
***** dumb. - sccrplyr40, on 12/26/2008, -2/+15Send 'em an email...NFL.com
I did...hope they like it! - Tonicks, on 12/26/2008, -1/+13THE NFL DOESN'T CARE ABOUT SNOW ANGELS!!!
- noots, on 12/26/2008, -0/+12i wouldn't say they are losing fans, but there is a certain resentment building - and it could in the future effect the league.
- Decimit, on 12/26/2008, -4/+14I thought he just fell down from fatigue and started streaching his arms and legs. :)
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+10it's called a "game" for a reason you know.
lighten up. - sgtbutterscotch, on 12/26/2008, -13/+22Welker knew the rules and surely the commissioner wasn't about to let him break the rules and get away with it. Of course, the commissioner sucks in the first place for penalizing and fining players for simple celebrations.
- CLAWC, on 12/26/2008, -2/+11This is BS. I watched that game. And I KNEW someone was going to make a snowangel celebration. It was just a matter of time. Let him celebrate. Snow isn't a prop. And they can go to the ground to pray but not to play?
- trafficlight, on 12/26/2008, -1/+9It's a damn snow angel, there doesn't need to be any discipline.
It's not like he spent half an hour making a ***** snow man either. 10 seconds and snow angel making is over. Who cares? - dext3r, on 12/26/2008, -0/+7your complaint is that entertainers are entertaining too much.
- nampaguy, on 12/26/2008, -0/+7God is a prop, but they don't stop the prayers.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -5/+12I'll get dugg down for defending the "no fun league" but the only way to prevent the NFL from becoming the XFL/pro wrestling is fines of any and all attention-whoring behavior. Most people agree TO's sharpie incident or Randy Moss's faux mooning of the crowd were lame and not stuff we want to see, but you can't fine just stuff like that, because pretty soon everyone is trying to see how much they can push the envelope and there's a celebration after every TD, most of them pretty dumb. With no fines at all, to get attention, athletes would have to escalate the distraction level of their behavior every week... you'd have guys stopping the game for 10 minutes after every TD.
Ultimately, are you watching to see football, or you watching to see jocks try to be funny? If you want comedy, watch comedy central. Otherwise you're watching football for the wrong reasons. - dolemite01, on 12/26/2008, -1/+7This is ridiculous Goodell is going overboard, fining for that? The guy is a world class athlete, he made a catch in the National Football League and leads in doing so, something a very miniscule amount of people will ever achieve, and gets paid highly to do it. If he wants to celebrate for a few seconds, so be it. We watch for entertainment, and I find that to be apart of it.
Lets see, you let Adam 'pacman' Jones back in after many many brushes with the law, but fine Welker for this? - inactive, on 12/26/2008, -0/+6Yeah, they got the penalty and that should have been it. $10,000 for a snow angel is ridiculous!
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -0/+5You can try out for an NFL team if you think it's so easy to catch a ball... then get tackled by a 260 pound (of muscle) lineman with all his force.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -0/+5Well, I have TiVo, so I no longer put up with 100 commercials for crappy beer, cars and investment companies to watch a football game :-)
Personally, when I played sports (admittedly just at the high school level) if we celebrated more than just a fist pump or a cheer, if we went out of our way to get attention in our celebrations, we were pretty much considered douchebags. When guys in baseball scream and shout and taunt the batter when they strike them out, that's still being a unsportsmanlike jerk in my book. - treytravis, on 12/26/2008, -1/+6if someone celebrated a touchdown by making a snowman, i would watch the nfl more often
- rabidlemur, on 12/26/2008, -0/+5I know, what sort of monster throws snowballs?? New York fans would NEVER do that. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=990 ...
Stay classy New York! - inactive, on 12/26/2008, -0/+5For what? Violating his constitutional right to attention whore? He's an employee of an NFL franchise, he agreed to their rules about TD celebrations and ensuing fines.
- Juliax3, on 12/26/2008, -2/+7Since When is Making A Snow Angel " unsportsmanlike conduct " ??
- gdeanu, on 12/26/2008, -1/+6I'm just saying they threw them thinking no one would retaliate and when ellis threw that boulder of a snowball people ***** themselves.
Fans are getting ridiculous, a fan came onto the field in Foxboro and blind-sided Junior Seau. It may have been with good intentions, but fans shouldn't throw things at players or go onto the field/court.
http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/20 ... - xGeneric, on 12/26/2008, -2/+6Indeed. I will never watch football again after seeing such a horrific act(and I'm a Pats fan too).
The fine is not enough. Wes Welker needs to be banned from the league, Belichek should be fired, and Mr. Craft(the owner) should hand over control of the team to someone more responsible.
Also, I believe Roger Goodell should resign, for not having precautions in place to prevent such a disgusting act. I will not rest until we've removed any type of emotion from the player. I pray for the day when football is played by cold, rigid machines, void of any emotion, incapable of providing any sort of entertainment. Goodell, despite his best efforts, seems unable to complete the job. What a fool. - inactive, on 12/26/2008, -0/+3No one watches football for the commercials, but we still have to put up with those. 2 hours worth per every 1 hour of game at that.
a little bit of celebrating is pretty much par for the course in sports, and welcome by most people who watch. - treytravis, on 12/26/2008, -0/+3its just a snowball. dont ***** yourself
- xGeneric, on 12/26/2008, -2/+5Indeed, messed that up. I know Kraft is with a K, but just guessed on Belichick. Don't worry, due to my spelling mistakes, I now see I'm not a "real" fan, and will promptly throw away all my Pats staff, stop watching their games, and beat myself over the head with a lead pipe until I forget all knowledge of previous games.
Thanks for the help! - inactive, on 12/26/2008, -2/+5***** CAPS LOCK!
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -4/+6This is as bad as seeing Janet Jackson's boobie.
i hope the US Government gets involved. - xerigen, on 12/26/2008, -0/+2http://www.instantrimshot.com
- shadeOfGrey, on 12/26/2008, -1/+3***** ALL ACRONYMS!
- superm1ke, on 12/26/2008, -5/+7The NFL doesnt belief in Angels :(
- ramskate, on 12/26/2008, -0/+2i think the goons that were pelting players on the field with snowballs deserved what they got
i throroughly enjoyed watching the video on youtube, especially the announcers responses hahaha - swik, on 12/26/2008, -0/+2It was for dropping to the ground after scoring not for using a prop.
- weaksnyc, on 08/14/2009, -0/+2lol, you must be a hit at parties.
- lukedemi, on 12/26/2008, -0/+2Wes Welker runs most of his patterns over the middle... It's the only way a player his size can be successful. Unfortunately he opens himself up to hits such as these:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyhSPd-TK1o
I promise that if your 30 year old ass took a hit like that you wouldn't walk for a month. - compu73rg33k, on 12/26/2008, -4/+6Seriously, I think I may just skip the Super Bowl b/c the NFL pulls stupid fine ***** like this
- rabidlemur, on 12/26/2008, -0/+2Pics or it didn't happen!
- zioxide, on 12/26/2008, -5/+6A real Pats fan would at least know how to spell Belichick and Kraft.
- xerigen, on 12/26/2008, -1/+2I'm surprised they haven't already -- you'd think they'd classify the wall as a prop.
- hs112186, on 12/26/2008, -0/+1coming to a theater near you "Angels in the Endzone" starring Wes Welker
