- sovereign3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Surely you don't expect your organization to be taken seriously if you maintain a MySpace page.
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Come on... This is "piling on". Also if you remember back, this is the very same prosecutor that said the feds were racist for going after him... Now he's trying to save his own ass. Mike had is day in court. Plead guilty and it should be over. Why doesn't double jeopardy apply to state/federal crimes. He needs to be punished, but being charged twice for the same crime is a bit ridiculous.
- devin_mm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Buried for use of number 4 in title.
- SuperDelen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Surely he doesn't expect his organization to be taken seriously anyway. Hippie be gone.
- plizard, on 10/10/2007, -7/+10oh no we can't do that! it's racist to indict michael vick for killing pit bulls just like it's racist to charge and sentence the 'jena 6' for nearly killing one white kid. where's al sharpton at?
- kjizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Apparently, doing Boost Mobile ads.
- roomforpanic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Um, I don't think anyone actually died. I'm pretty sure the kid was treated and released the same night.
- TheRemoteViewer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4It's not like he's the first person to be charged in both federal and state courts. It's not double jeopardy.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"As for Vick...I hope between the Feds and Virginia he stays in prison for a nice long time."
Yeah because we should view his treatment of those dogs on the same level as doing the same to a human... Makes perfect rational sence.... You wouldn't happen to be a member of PETA now would you? - FearlessFreep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Late to the party. Country Prosecutor got one-upped by the feds and now he's scrambling for some press
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I completely agree and I didn't mean to imply he was the first or that this is anyway unusual. I'm just saying its stupid. You commit a crime, you should be charged and tried for it once. That's all. You're completely correct.
- Bkaufman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Clearly giving someone a black eye == attempted murder with a deadly weapon (a tennis shoe). In the words of Dave Chapelle: WHIIIITE POWER.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2He was able to attend a school function the same night, so I don't think he was even beaten that badly.
- szembek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Same crime. This is just a DA trying to get noticed.
- robisfunky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3 You trolls are so cute! I love the way you guys' hair sticks all up. Adorable!
- zioxide, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Honestly, throwing him in prison isn't going to accomplish anything but waste taxpayer money. They should sentence him to like 5,000 hours (about 2 years @ 8 hours a day) of community service. At least then he would be contributing to society instead of wasting money in jail.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Is this normal treatment for animal abusers? It seems a bit much to me but it could just be the media making it seem like it's something special. Seriously, does anyone know?
- chyya, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3puppy enemy? you douches need to get a life and worry about real issues. dont get me wrong, i love my dog with all my heart, but when you spend billions of dollars saving an animal when kids in africa are dying every day, theres a problem here.
get your priorities straight - RealmDown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2He should be punished for the crime sure, but the NAACP calling "piling on" is the china calling the porcelain white.
- SuperDelen, on 11/27/2007, -0/+1I think if you are a member of PETA or a similar organization then you are indeed a hippie.
- robisfunky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1 No that makes him cruel. Treoinmypocket is right about why he is a moron.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Got a link to the part about their criminal records? I've read one of them had a prior conviction, not all of them though.
- fishbert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Buried for using '4' instead of 'for' in the title.
If you can bother to spell out 'prosecutor', you can be bothered to spell out 'for'. - szembek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're gay.
- ronaldinho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1unless it's Miss South Carolina (soon to be named Miss South Africa?)
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So is he being targeted because of his celb status? Seemslike this is your point of view. If it is, do you have any links which would support this?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1More likely if Vick was Joe Average he would have ended up with MUCH more jail time. His celeb status saved his ass because they can use him for PSAs, charities, etc.
As for the media, you are right. We probably wouldn't have heard any more than a 10 word blurb buried on page 30C in the newspaper if this was Joe Average. - poorbusker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I hate Virginia, the laws and cops are unbelievably strict. I'm not talking about the Vick case, I am just using this article as a soap discussing how much Virginia sucks ass.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2No, that's not why Vick is a moron. He's a moron because he tortured animals for entertainment. The charges aren't excessive enough.
- Dralite, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Ditto... ignorance isn't cute
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2WOOF! WOOF!! WOOF!!!!
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No. How does his celeb status have anything to do with it? I think he was charged because he did it. I just think its stupid to charge him twice.
- dschrute, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1***** him. He knew exactly what he was doing and he knew it was illegal. Why do you think the buildings were painted black? He deserves everything he gets.
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just an FYI - Information on the hypocrisy of the Surry County prosecutor: http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=3261036
He's just covering his ass now. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I am not a member of PETA, nor am I a treehugging hippy. However, I do think there is something to be said about someone that gets their jollys off of making animals kill each other for nothing other than their own entertainment and financial gain.
So it's okay to make dogs fight to the death because they are not human?
How about the fact that many of the people that fight dogs end up killing their dogs in cruel ways like hanging them if the dog loses but lives? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hey, it's a win for Poindexters everywhere.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Didn't he already have his day in court?
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is my question. I'd like some links which prove either way. We see toomany sensationalized storied posted here on Digg which turn out to be a deliberate distortion of reality. I'm just curious where this story falls. I see many peopel posting their opinions but very few posting supporting facts.
- dsiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, he should be treated like anyone else. That's how our justice system works.
Also, playing in the NFL is not a position of trust or authority. Vick is a very troubled man, to say the least, but that does not mean that he should not be able to resume his chosen profession - thought that ultimately is for the league to decide. - thanakar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So, in your book it is okay to hang and drown dogs because they don't perform to standards?
- Pwelborn1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Millions of people kill animals every day and are not treated this way. It's called hunting, and believe me many hunted animals get shot then run off and live for days suffering, much worse than these dogs did. (I once heard a friend mention he came across a dear carcass where the lower jaw had been shot off, how long did the dear walk around bleeding before he starved to death?) The difference is the intention. Most people who hunt don't do so to be cruel, however being that the end result is the same, I think there are far more serious things that could occupy our time and attention than whether animals are being killed. Vick should be fined, serve some time then be allowed to return to his profession provided he changes and I think it would be smart of him to do some awareness work for the sake of his reputation... I just don't see it as that big of a deal. I'm more concerned with human life than with animals.
- chyya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1at least use expressions in the right context o_O
- Pwelborn1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dude, he was wrong, but they were animals! I know this is flame bait but would you be so irritated if it were say pre-born babies having thier brains sucked out just before exiting the womb?
- dsiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, he should be treated like anyone else. That's how our justice system works.

God its hard to take somebody with the last name Poindexter seriously.
- Bkaufman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3I'm not sure if this is fair. He was already tried and convicted for these crimes...he should serve his sentence and be done with it. It makes no sense to
punish someone twice. - 0ddity, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Oh come on... he had a bloody nose too.
- gstevenson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Good! This guy deserves everything he has coming to him. And I hope he's never able to revive his NFL career.
