- pleeker, on 10/29/2007, -7/+222He doesn't speak "football", either, judging by their 0-7 record....
- dedmond29, on 10/29/2007, -3/+90Good comment from the article (updated since this was dugg originally):
"Dude, seriously…he’s having some fun with you guys. That’s Channing. He cracks his own jokes that only he gets to laugh at.
Here are some facts about Channing. He scored a 30 on the wonderlic. He was a member of the National Honors Society in college. He had a validated 3.5 GPA at University of Florida, and I believe he graduated early.
Seriously, he was making fun of you guys."
Interesting conversations going on in the comments section (of the original article) - inactive, on 10/29/2007, -10/+74... and he makes more money than all of us. I think I'll go shoot myself and get it over with.
- coit, on 10/29/2007, -9/+71If you read the first comment in the blog, you'll see his academic qualifications, which probably beat the crap out of most of yours. But he is reelin' all of you in real good!
- LaueOfficer, on 11/02/2007, -2/+44From what I've heard, I didn't know they spoke English in Miami....
- irvman21, on 10/29/2007, -3/+42He was kidding, he's a pretty bright guy. The writer managed to get his story linked onto Drudge though, good work
- ganymede2010, on 10/26/2007, -2/+31Can't believe how many people are lacking a sarcasm detector.l
- iPirate, on 11/12/2007, -4/+31He's joking.
- TheCount, on 10/25/2007, -0/+24Another example of when sarcasm goes wrong. The reporter is the idiot for giving an article that title, just trying to get some press... looks like it worked though, it's on digg.
- PopcornDave, on 10/29/2007, -11/+34I thought football players were college graduates. Even if he had other people take their classes, is he really this stupid or was he kidding?
- akula696969, on 10/26/2007, -0/+22The funny thing is the joke is on about 70% of the tools posting here about how "dumb" he is. Pssst....the joke is on you.......
- hockey, on 10/29/2007, -1/+21I'm from the American South. We speak a different language altogether.
Bye ya'll. - Myonosken, on 10/29/2007, -13/+32We speak English. You speak American English.
There is no "English English", just English. - westers47, on 10/28/2007, -12/+29They speak "English" English.
- diggleague, on 10/29/2007, -3/+18Here are some facts about Channing. He scored a 30 on the wonderlic. He was a member of the National Honors Society in college. He had a validated 3.5 GPA at University of Florida, and I believe he graduated early.
- moskaudancer, on 10/26/2007, -0/+12No, but they should be paid according to how valuable they are to society... which I suppose is the case; it's just sad that society as a whole values athletes more than scientists and educators.
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -7/+18True, they speak Arabic.
- sacherjj, on 10/26/2007, -0/+10That was perfect English. He doesn't understand the concept of "nothing". :)
- heartcoldfusion, on 10/29/2007, -0/+9Other than the fact that he said his friend had a coincidental name which indicates he has some level of intelligence. Also the fact that he's joking is a good indication
- philathea80, on 10/25/2007, -0/+8“Football linemen are motivated by a more complicated, self- determining series of factors than the simple fear of humiliation in the public gaze, which is the emotion that galvanizes the backs and receivers”
Merlin Olsen - hockey, on 10/26/2007, -2/+10Forget London. I just want to know if they speak English in What. Because honestly that ain't no country I ever heard of.
- mrogi, on 10/26/2007, -0/+7An NBA player named Rafer Alston refused to be traded to a team in Toronto. When asked why he balked at the deal Rafer protested, "I don't even know how to speak Canadian."
- ArmandoM, on 10/29/2007, -2/+9I would have to think that a guy that was in the National Honors Society in high school (according to the Dolphin's webpage) would be able to figure out that they speak English in England.
I'd say it's a safe bet that he was joking. - kurttrail, on 10/26/2007, -0/+7Go bugger off, you bloody twit.
- limpl0uie, on 10/26/2007, -8/+14If you believe what he's saying you're just as stupid as you think he is.
People forget that even football players had to go to college...and graduate. - moskaudancer, on 10/26/2007, -1/+7The Germans actually refer to American and English dialects as separate languages, "Englisch" and "Amerikanisch".
- bitt3n, on 10/28/2007, -3/+9that's right, lord pennyfarthing! we'll show these yanks how to butter their crumpets!
- HotWingBias, on 10/26/2007, -2/+8I'm enjoing laughing at all these people who think he's serious.
- cgruber, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5lol @ 95% of the comments.
- Rossoneri22, on 10/28/2007, -2/+7don't confuse the poor guy, two games called "football" would be too much for his peanut sized brain to comprehend.
- inactive, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5It is an NFL rule that your high school graduating class has to be 3 years removed from its graduation date to play in the NFL. Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams challenged this and failed, and sat out a year. You do not HAVE to go to college, but no NFL team wants a player 3 years out of high school that didn't play college football.
- tman84, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5what's sad is the people taking this guy serious, the internet has an amazing way of showing people with no clue or sense of humor
- j.carcinogen, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5Good work Columbo.
- heartcoldfusion, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5I don't think anyone cares if you watch football.
- jpe81, on 10/26/2007, -3/+8It's the University of Florida...first rate athletics, community college rate academics.
- bigpeeler, on 11/12/2007, -3/+8Apologist.
- itsJALbert, on 11/02/2007, -1/+5"Crowder’s standup routine didn’t miss a beat..."
Pretty sure the author knew he was joking. - stimpack, on 10/26/2007, -2/+6Your changing demographics suggest you better be learning Spanish, or Mexican as you probably call it.
- fadetoone, on 10/26/2007, -1/+5From what I've always heard, the English language has changed more in England than it has in America since the revolution.... especially in regards to accents.
- sacherjj, on 10/26/2007, -0/+4Yep. After further review, the call on the field was overturned. You are correct. Although, it still stands that a large number of NFL players never received college degrees.
- CactusChef, on 10/26/2007, -3/+7More like LOLphins!
- SuperJob, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3He was obviously joking if the guy graduated from U of F with a 3.5 GPA.
- iandigg, on 10/26/2007, -1/+4No, we speak English. You speak American English. 'British English' exists in the world of Microsoft and silly sites like dictionary.com.
- consoneo, on 10/28/2007, -0/+3Yep yep, you can blame Webster for the changing of your words to American :)
- Canadian0207, on 10/26/2007, -1/+4WRONG! He never graduated. And he was definitely an idiot, and a psycho (abused women, consistently breaking things, horrible temper). His 3.5 GPA is a result of "tutors" doing his work for him. Remember, this was during the Ron Zook era, a lot of ***** slid.
UF is in the top 50 public and private universities in the nation (top 20 public). It gets more National Merit Scholars than any other university in the nation. And it has become increasingly difficult to get in here (average SAT from last I remember (2003) was 1300). UF is a GREAT university. - john95127, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3Crikey!
- deviouskoopa, on 10/25/2007, -1/+4Wow............ "He’s black, so I’m sure he’s not from London. I’m sure that’s a coincidental name." Just wow haha
- troub, on 10/26/2007, -0/+3I pitched my Univ. of Florida recruitment materials in the trash when I noticed the footnote at the bottom of their list of programs, "NOTE: You will not receive a degree in 'Undecided'".
- drlha, on 10/29/2007, -9/+12Right, because Football players always get through school based purely on their hard work and intelligence right?
- inactive, on 10/26/2007, -2/+5Football players do not HAVE to graduate. Who is digging you up for such a naive statement.
