- lollapaloooza, on 01/05/2009, -9/+48We can beat the Giants especially without Burress, that is, if the right Eagles show up. Let's go PHILLY!
- vipertech, on 01/05/2009, -2/+33...THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!
<cries into his Vikings pillow> - Zanarkand, on 01/05/2009, -0/+24If I may use a phrase from John Madden...."I think the team that marches down the field and scores the most points after 60 minutes of play time will probably win this contest..." Doesn't matter how you score the points, it only matters how many you have at the end. Bring on those Giants.
- Mersonix, on 01/05/2009, -7/+29E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!
- imspacevanman, on 01/05/2009, -8/+28Fly Eagles Fly...
- Phillydroog, on 01/05/2009, -1/+19It all began to change when a little statue of William Penn was placed atop the new Comcast building in Philadelphia. No longer did he have to gaze up at all the glorious high rise buildings from his perch on the roof of City Hall. He could now gaze down at his glorious city.
He thanked us by handing us a championship.
May he do the same for the Eagles.
Bill old man, I thank you. - benhasek219, on 01/05/2009, -7/+23EAGLES ROCK! GO PHILLY!
- smacksaw, on 01/05/2009, -2/+16That was a depressing game. Had the Vikes been healthier I think it would have been more even. It could have been even closer!
Anyway, the difference between Tarvaris Jackson/Gus Frerotte vs. Donovan McNabb was pronounced.
Both Jackson and McNabb faced the same looks every time they went under center. And with such huge pressure coming, McNabb was able to thread the needle and make adjustments, things that Jackson just could not quite do. There were so many damned plays where he was just a hair away from making a play but he could not.
It was a mistake not to have Frerotte in there. He would have made the pressure plays. Jackson tried his best, but his best is not good enough. He can't make it with that sort of pressure and he doesn't have the knowledge (nor do the coaches have plays for him) to compensate when he's facing that killer Eagles' rush.
If you're a Vikings fan...if you just had one less injury on the D-line or maybe Gus in there you would have won. It was so close.
And I have to give props to Jared Allen and Brian Westbrook. Both of those guys never gave up and put the team on their backs. And both of them are probably not even 75%. - EvilJelloMan, on 01/05/2009, -1/+14Fly Eagles Fly...
- haiduz, on 01/05/2009, -0/+13And we'll watch our eagles fly!
- CaptainCool53, on 01/05/2009, -1/+13Score a touchdown 1-2-3!
- hawk0168, on 01/05/2009, -0/+12Being a Minnesotan, all I can say is... trade the Vikings for a Wild draft pick.
And trade the Timberwolves for a bag of pucks. - nickels, on 01/05/2009, -1/+12Hit em low,
Hit em high... - inactive, on 01/05/2009, -3/+14On the road to victory!
- dcipjr, on 01/05/2009, -0/+11How about that hit put on Jackson by Clemmons during the Asante Samuel interception?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ceJ7rapDMQ
I give the guy credit for getting up after that. Ouch. - MeatMountain, on 01/05/2009, -2/+13Go McNabb, show all the d-bag haters like TO and Rush.
- T8erT0T, on 01/05/2009, -1/+11Eagles should be able to put up a good fight, especially since the Giants have been sitting around doing nothing for a while. It looks to be a great game nonetheless, and I'd really like to see someone give the Giants a run for their money.
- quaffapint, on 01/05/2009, -6/+16I'm sick of all the local news saying how great the Eagles played - They didn't play all that great - they couldn't get into the endzone under multiple tries, mcnabb get throwing behind people, westbrook kept running straight ahead and getting nowhere. They're going to have to really try to fix things if they want to even have a shot at a ring.
- PrismoFillusion, on 01/05/2009, -10/+19Tarvaris Jackson has to be one of the worst current NFL starting quarterbacks, and to think he got to start in a playoff game! I don't think he'll be starting for long...
The Eagles played decently, which was all it took to beat the Vikes by 12. I still think they're going to need more a running game if they plan on beating the Giants.
Go Giants! (and here's where I get buried for supporting my team) - pappas215, on 01/05/2009, -5/+14time to make Eli cry like Romo
- xevidentx, on 01/05/2009, -0/+8they need to work on red zone performance, but they can def. take out the giants, especially since they dont have plaxico
- CaptainCool53, on 01/05/2009, -0/+7Fly, Eagles, fly...
- nickels, on 01/05/2009, -2/+9Huge Eagles fan here, let's get this out of the way right now - THE EAGLES SHOULDN'T EVEN BE IN THE PLAYOFFS!
But now they are due to the stars all aligning and crazy events unfolded perfectly for them last weekend. Now I am praying they do the unimaginable and get to another Super Bowl.
Whatever happens, I am enjoying the ride! GO EAGLES!!! - strafefire, on 01/05/2009, -0/+6At least your team did not go 0-16
*Cries into pillow* - stellarceltic, on 01/05/2009, -1/+7Dugg for supporting your team.
- Chirp08, on 01/05/2009, -0/+6Would be an amazing year for Philadelphia sports if the Eagles pulled it off. Even if they just make it I'd be happy.
- Jeembo, on 01/05/2009, -0/+5To win, the Vikings need to fire Childress and his offensive coordinator. Consistently awful play-calling just like he's done since he's been our coach.
The Eagles really went after Jackson and he has always struggled when he's under heavy pressure like that (like any QB, I suppose). He's got so much potential though if he could just make better decisions. - jull1234, on 01/05/2009, -0/+5Same ol' Vikes. :(
- TigerStar337, on 01/05/2009, -0/+4Jackson had one good game so Childress backed him. But, in reality, Childress' ego got in the way of winning. To win, the Vikings need Gus to quarterback. Oh, well. There is always next year, right!
- Fixhotep, on 01/05/2009, -0/+4I would prefer Cassel, but he is getting the franchise tag.
- smacksaw, on 01/05/2009, -0/+4@Fixhotep
They're only franchising him so they can get something in return.
He'll play a few games until Tom get back and then dealt somewhere for sure. - Chirp08, on 01/05/2009, -0/+4The fact that the season is playing out like a story book right now is too good to be true, I'm as nervous as excited.
- STARTSOMETHING, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4on the road to victory
- LordRedSnake, on 01/05/2009, -0/+4There's definitely room for improvement, but you also forget that Minnesota has one of the best defenses in the league, and the best run defense. Westbrook had all the cards stacked against him going up against a run defense with that size and speed. McNabb was able to move down the field, and he passed for 300 yards which you can't sneeze at, but I would like to see more of those drives get finished with a TD.
There are a whole mess of tough defenses in the playoffs this year, so it's not about to get any easier. - tava0002, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3The Vikes D played well, they held Philly to 3 field goals essentially the entire game. The Vikings played uninspired offense and it got worse after halftime once Philly made some defensive adjustments which held them scoreless. McNabb is still one of the best in the league, I don't understand why Philly fans hate him, they should appreciate him while they have him.
For the Vikes, Tarvaris needs to go, Gus needs to go and they need an offensive coordinator with a little creativity. - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Giant fan who sees a repeat. Only major threat I saw was from the Chargers. Think Giants can break the Ravens in the superbowl.
- Fixhotep, on 01/05/2009, -1/+4As a life long Vikings fan, I can't say I'm surprised. As per the usual these past couple years, the defense did a good enough job to keep the team in the game, but the offense's lack of a passing attack ultimately killed them ( i think opposing teams defenses score more than their offenses). I really hope the team finds a new QB next year.
At this point, I'm willing to take Favre. It looks like he is 'retiring' from the Jets, but I bet he will only do it if he can get in a Vikings jersey. Yea, he throws a ton of INTs, but Jackson does as well on top of his fumbles. At least with Favre you get flashes of a great QB. - ncnavguy, on 01/05/2009, -1/+4Don't say that man, Farve is blown out. If you guys are really looking for a decent QB then go with Cassell as he's coming up in free agency and young.
- zdwade, on 01/05/2009, -2/+5agreed i saw the same exact game you did. they really need to get things together. i thought mcnabb had a horrible game but one of the only comments joe buck had for the eagels was mcnabb had a great game. It didnt make any sense. watev i still think we can put a whopping on the giants.
- QuickBrittle, on 01/05/2009, -13/+16Having a relatively healthy Brandon Jacobs ready to go Sunday is going to be huge.
Let's go GIANTS!!! - LordRedSnake, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3I love Peterson, he's a freaking stud and I like watching him run even as an Eagles fan, but you really cannot say he was moving the ball effortlessly Sunday. Yeah he broke off that 40 yard run for a TD, but take that run out of the equation and he was averaging 2.2 yards per carry for 43 yards, a far cry from his typical 4.8 YPC.
- badassdave, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3Look like he got choke slammed
- Bloake, on 01/05/2009, -1/+4Looking forward to a great game on Super Bowl Sunday!!
- LordRedSnake, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3Uh, Favre single handedly blew up the Jets' season. He threw a mess of picks to lose them a playoff berth. Favre loses his composure and then tries to make a play on a long pass only to get it picked off.
- harronoob, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3I think the game would have been a nail-biter if the Vikes had some concept of a two-minute drill... But alas :(
- PrismoFillusion, on 01/05/2009, -0/+2There's always a silver lining - at least they can't do worse next season!
- PubStomp, on 01/05/2009, -0/+22 first round draft picks for franchise player if im not mistaken
- SPRFRKR, on 01/05/2009, -0/+2The Eagles' two minute drill is pretty poor itself. Thankfully, it wasn't needed this time around.
- LordRedSnake, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3Yeah, scoff at two touchdowns against the best run defense in the NFL, and one of the best defenses overall. Although one of those TDs was a pick 6.
- TimDigg, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2I'm predicting Giants vs Ravens part 2
