- TheHeat, on 12/29/2008, -0/+18I'm glad the Lions waited until the season was over, it was respectful to Rod and by week 8 it was obvious we weren't going to go 10-6 like Kitna thinks every year.
- krekc, on 12/29/2008, -0/+17Ford Sr. should fire himself.
- wrmjr, on 12/29/2008, -2/+11I'm quite surprised by Mangini's firing. He'll have no trouble finding another job...maybe even as an HC.
- matt.rubin, on 12/30/2008, -0/+9Maybe Brady Quinn will get a decent offensive scheme then.
- cyrusuncc, on 12/30/2008, -0/+8Why fire Rod? He got the Loins into the record books!
- antipoet, on 12/30/2008, -0/+8Now if we could just figure out a way to fire the Fords as well and we'll be set.
- wrmjr, on 12/29/2008, -0/+823-25 is certainly not the record you want from a coach, but that 4-12 season seems a bit of an outlier. He had a winning record in 2 out of 3 years and made the playoffs once. That isn't bad for a first time head coach. I think he'll only get better, whereas Favre's future is much more limited.
- weatherzine, on 12/30/2008, -0/+6Na-na-na-na Goodbye! Go Dolphins!
- Jabrams2, on 12/29/2008, -1/+7it's hard to be surprised when the man finished his 3 year stint with a record below .500, ESPECIALLY after his owner went out and made some huge signings to bolster the team and the team traded for Favre. Add that to the fact they were 8-3 this season, yet still managed to miss the playoffs, the blame has to go on someone.
- jotate, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5Time to bring Tim Couch back, I'd say. If there's not a QB controversy, then it's not Cleveland football.
- NoLibertarians, on 12/29/2008, -1/+6Lots of other coaches need to be replaced...Herm Edwards should go along with Norv Turner and Wade Phillips !
- catfish182, on 12/30/2008, -0/+4maybe Quinn will be decent
- flamesrule, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3What Kitna doesn't know could fill a warehouse.
- Yimyack, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Romeo Crennel - a hell of a nice guy & a man that is respected. Not so good as a head coach.
Goes to show the only way to have job security in the NFL is by winning.
Far as Mangini goes, there's some talk about the Browns hiring Scott Pioli as GM & possibly bringing in Mangini as HC. Not sure if that will work out, just a scenario. - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3I'm sure they're devastated...it's just going to be a game of coaches' musical chairs anyway.
- msu4life, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Well the one good thing about Kitna was that he at least saw potential in a terrible team... I think that if he wouldn't have lost his cool in the first few games we could have done a lot better.
What the hell were we thinking signing Dante for 2 years?
That's a dumb question... 0-16 obviously there wasn't any of that going on. - jba68, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Hey, help us out down here in Dallas, Pleez Hire Garrett
- shrapnel09, on 12/30/2008, -1/+4Wouldn't that be obvious by week 7, mathematically speaking? Unless Lions had their bye before then...
- 1kewldude, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Jon Gruden needs to go too - I'm a Bucs fan and man I'm F*%$#*&^ pissed at the way our season ended and that the owners are still showing confidence in this supposed offensive genius.....help me raise awareness that Gruden needs to go:
http://digg.com/football/Why_has_Jon_Gruden_not_be ... - Shivan57, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3You can't pat a defeated teams back and say "Well, at least we tried team." You need to put a fire under their ass. Edwards is an excellent player and all those dropped passes in the breadbasket were inexcusable. He needs to be motivated in the right way, not coddled.
Let the angry bulldog rest. Bring in someone who has the fight to win and doesn't say die. - DS2600, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3Hells no, Gradkowski 2009!!!!
- bdiggitty, on 12/29/2008, -1/+3I couldn't agree more. I'm praying that Wade steps down since the delusional Jerry Jones won't give him the axe.
- reaper527, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2i can tell you who ISN'T getting fired, tony sporano :)
AFC East champs! - OutpostNetwork, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Romeo Crennel is too nice to be a head coach. He would be great in public relations or some other position with the organization. You need someone that is going to motivate those rich prima donnas. Someone that isn't afraid to get in their face and tell them to give it their best effort. Bring on Cowher! http://www.cowher09.com/
- noclss2000, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2:giggles:
must be some Loins! - DTJunkie07, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Ken Dorsey all the way guys lol
- playuhh, on 12/31/2008, -0/+2Way to forget the 'HEY HEY HEY' preceding goodbye...
- shrapnel09, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Bears Lovie Smith needs replaced along with the head offensive coordinator.
- catfish182, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Can i buy some pot from you?
- flippedcracker, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Herm definitely needs to get axed.
- jefbob, on 12/30/2008, -2/+4If you ever figure out how to fire owners, please let us in Southern Ohio know about it.
- reaper527, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2he doesn't even have to give up coaching. he made a great defensive coordinator
- pinchduck, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2He should have stayed around, he can't get any worse.
- ShugNinx21, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2According to Cleveland fans the best QB in Cleveland is always sitting on the bench.
They suffer from mass dementia and the grass is always greener complex. - ShugNinx21, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Jerry Jone loves Wade Phillips because Wade is nothing but a puppet coach. Wade isn't going to get all pissed at Jerry sticking his nose into the football operations. The best thing that could happen to the Cowboys is Jones giving control of the team to a Coach and not stick his nose in anything.
Jimmy Johnson left because Jones started to play backseat coach and personnel director.
Parcells left because Jones started sticking his nose in the team affairs again. - McDeath, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2This article is inaccurate, it should say that the Cowboys fired their coach (at least that is what I wish)!!!
- fivewood0, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2The only firing that surprised me a little bit was that of Mangini. Once word got out that Mangini and Favre never saw eye to eye it was one or the other. The ironic part is that if Pennington has QB'd that team all year they would be in the playoffs and Mangini would still be employed. The front office obviously hopes to keep Brett in town for another season. I'm just not sure why...
Payday Loans Bones - llopez1223, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1because of his legacy. I don't know why people throw up all over themselves when talking about Bret Favre, after all he has only won ONE superbowl.
- icabodane, on 12/30/2008, -2/+3Favre will either annoy us on sportscenter or he'll make random O.J. style cameos in movies. I mean the good, likable, and funny O.J. Not the O.J. in ass-pounding prison.
- kahn2001, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1don't forget your " " in your tag;-)
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -1/+2Thats like closing the barn gate after the horses left, shoulda fired em earlier
- hi2l, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1I thought Lovie Smith might get fired and am surprised that he isn't on the hot seat, at least. The comments out of Bears headquarters is that they are satisfied with the play of Kyle Orton. The numbers and results don't warrant such support. The Bears cannot rise to the winning level they want with any subpar QB,
- Jables30, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1GMs were fired also
- icabodane, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1I've wanted the Browns and Bengals to get good for years. I thought Couch would turn the browns around. My friend played him on his Madden team back in '03 and he did pretty well! I predicted the Chargers getting good and that came true, I called Cincinnati for a surprise playoff berth.... oops. What happened to Palmer-Ocho?
You gotta feel for Ohio FB fans. It was bad enough to have your team move to Baltimore and change their uniforms right before they finally win a Superbowl. I have faith though. Next year will be the year of the Bengal in the AFC!! Well, unless Vince Young learned how to throw the football during his multi-million dollar paid time off this season.
There seems to be a black hole from northern Kentucky up through Canada where football teams just suck. Chicago seems to fall in and out of it too. I'm just happy it started north of Nashville this year! Go TITANS! - TheOceanic666, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1A good head coach knows when he has to go to the sub basement and turn the frozen wheel to move the island.
I'm glad someone turned the wheel. - icabodane, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1Can you fire the owners?
- syntaxgs, on 12/30/2008, -6/+2This Sounds like a Boring Football game O.o;;
