- AmyVernon, on 05/29/2009, -3/+20WTF? The Big 10 is already the Big 11. The logo's already kinda crazy to account for that. Why do they need to add a team? Oh, and F OFF, Notre Dame. :-)
signed,
A Big 10 fan. - elstevo, on 05/29/2009, -1/+10"Big 10: for extremely large values of 10"
- ngb5012, on 05/29/2009, -1/+9This would ruin one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. ( although it hasn't been much of a rivalry lately) The Michigan/Ohio St. Game would not mean nearly as much. STFU Joe Pa.
- SteveMTyler, on 05/29/2009, -0/+7If they have 12 they get to have an east and west with 6 teams each, like the SEC. They can then have a big championship game at the end in a neutral location somewhere (maybe southbend, haha).
- vsujohn2, on 05/30/2009, -2/+5Notre Dame wouldn't want to join the Big 10. They are in the Big east in all but football and thats suited them well. They play as an independent and can play whoever they want and so long as they win 9 games they get a BCS game! How about that!
/***** douchebags - jba68, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3was that Joe PA talking, or the new hip...
- analogkid01, on 05/29/2009, -1/+4You better believe it, buddy!
- RevJonathan, on 05/29/2009, -5/+8I'm an SEC guy (Tennessee) and I really don't care who the Big 10 adds so long as they do it. I respect Ohio State and Michigan, but they need to play in a conference championship game like the rest of us. Same is true of the Pac-10.
Offer it up to Notre Dame if you want, but don't keep waiting for them. If they say no, move on. - jba68, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3they can be the little 12, considering how they play ball in the Big 10
- KimmyGibbler, on 05/30/2009, -1/+4Too bad they play like girls. They peaked when Rudy made that sack
- maj0rm0j0, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3Notre Dame has a very large tv contract with NBC and won't be taking less money to join the Big Ten. Notre Dame is a member of the Big East in every sport but football, and in football they have a bowl tie-in with the Big East.
- fracktica, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3Charlie Weis has one of the most phenomenally breathtaking FUPAs that has graced humankind.
- ervinTE8, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2I'm a ND fan and I lol'd.
- BloodWenis, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2How we just ***** drop Northwestern? Or maybe do it like the Premier League in the UK where the ***** teams get booted?
Maybe get down to the magic number of you know... '10' - middlecon, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2I thought I heard this like a week ago.
- diablc, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2Any team added to the Big Ten will be a help to the conference. On the national stage, it has really hurt the Big Ten at times not to have a championship game. When a team with a conference championship is in third it hurts the Big Ten and the Pac-10 not to have a championship.
- Rhoadsy, on 05/29/2009, -1/+3Clear cut big 10 champion as opposed to sharing the championship.
Signed,
A PSU Fan - amolkold, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2Big 10 needs to learn how to count ...
- inactive, on 05/29/2009, -4/+6We need an extra team in the Big Ten so we can have a playoffs system. Notre Dame would be the best decision though since they're independent right now.
- momomathew, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1Why does the Big Ten need a playoff? The only reason to have is to generate revenue. A playoff does not help a team become a national champion, the only reason to have a playoff is because the Big Ten finishes early and does not play in December. They should just start the season later and finish in early December.
- badqat, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1I say the Big 10 is welcome to Notre Dame. They play in the Big East, with football being the exception. F that.
As a Big East fan, I say welcome them with open arms! - PxCxG, on 05/29/2009, -1/+2I disagree with regards to the conference championship...actually, I prefer the pac 10 system -- every school plays every other team in the conference. Seems fair to me.
- airwalkery2k, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1If they had 12 members, that would make them the Big 12?
- dmbchris, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1um... UM vs. Ohio state usually is the championship.

- master69better, on 08/24/2009, -0/+1I'd like to see the Mountaineers come in to the Big 10, they've got a grudge match against Michigan that I can't wait to see.
Signed,
A Buckeye - esser1999, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1If the Big 10 adds a 12th team, then they would have 2 divisions of 6 teams for football. How do you think they would break up the league? My idea:
American: PSU, Pitt/SU/Rutgers/WVU, Michigan State, Purdue, Minnesota, Wisconsin
National: Michigan, Ohio State, Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa
This would keep the Michigan/OSU rivalry. - inactive, on 06/12/2009, -0/+1we'd welcome notre dame to the big east to maul them
- plaguester, on 09/13/2009, -0/+0You could still keep it and put Michigan on the other side. See Alabama/Tennessee rivalry.
- Chewie67, on 05/30/2009, -1/+1Exactly. I'd rather see Penn State bolser up the weak Big East (they're really a Basketball conference) than see SU go to the Big 10.
As for Notre Dame, I'd guess they'll end up in the Big East. They already play there for Basketball... - maj0rm0j0, on 05/30/2009, -1/+1You may have heard it a week ago, but it seems to me like he said it about a month ago, and the Big Ten immediately said they aren't adding any teams any time soon.
- KublaiKhan, on 05/30/2009, -1/+1I'm a big Rutgers fan and, sadly, I've been forced to acknowledge that Rutgers would be accepted readily for two unfortunate reasons:
1. They capture the lucrative NYC-area market, since there are no other big teams in the region. (I use "big" loosely when I describe RU football.)
2. Rutgers is an apt whipping boy and an eager laughingstock. - cyrix, on 05/30/2009, -1/+1Rudy, rudy, rudy, rudy, rudy, rudy, rudy, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY!
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -0/+0comon guy, don't you watch the cfl?
- trdrstv, on 05/30/2009, -0/+0Notre Dame would be the best decision...
because they're a horrible team and it's more easy wins at this point. - dmoney51, on 05/30/2009, -1/+1Does Joe PA remind anyone else of Kim Jung-Il?
- maj0rm0j0, on 05/29/2009, -2/+1The Big 10 comish already came out and said they will not be adding another team anytime in the near future and they don't stand behind Paterno's comments. This story is about a month old.
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -1/+0Noitre Dame sucks and all, they adding them brings in HUGE bucks to any conference. Of course, that is why ND won't do it. they are not about to share their network TV deal with other teams.
- vlmusicalsound, on 05/29/2009, -3/+1There's no reason for any Big East team to join the Big 10.
- seanayb, on 05/30/2009, -4/+1I love you Joe Pa, but I gotta disagree on this one. Notre Dame may be a bunch of *****, but they NEED a ***** conference. Their exemption from conferences is *****.
Our Big 10 Conference is already a misnomer anyway. - joeandshirl, on 05/29/2009, -10/+6Big SU fan. Hope they stay away from Big 10.
Hey Joe, how about PSU in Big East? - merslerm, on 05/30/2009, -8/+2Did Paterno say this from the press box high above the field?
Notre Dame is a huge cash cow with a wonderful college football legacy. The Big 10 should be honored to have Notre Dame, and Paterno needs to retire before he becomes like Lou Holtz.
P.S. Go Trojans, Fight On! - PxCxG, on 05/29/2009, -12/+6I don't know, ND makes a lot of sense -- it's in the midwest (like the big 10 teams) and it totally sucks (like the big 10 teams).
- Falldog, on 05/29/2009, -8/+2I'm perplexed by the category. US/Canadian football? Canada has football teams?
- toddwdraper, on 05/29/2009, -11/+4The Big Ten had their chance at ND in the 20s. ND was begging to be admitted but was rejected (and in some cases blackballed from schedules) due to anti-Catholic bias. So frak the Big Ten. Independence forever.
- Ajaynow, on 05/29/2009, -10/+1Using 'Whom' makes you sound pretentious.
