- mikbunn, on 12/02/2008, -0/+26By keeping him, they'd just be shooting themselves in the foot.
- reddevild, on 12/02/2008, -0/+14i believe you mean thigh
- Edger, on 12/03/2008, -0/+11Video footage of the actual shooting:
http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/wp-content/upl ... - iamdan1, on 12/03/2008, -0/+8So what I got from this story is that the Giants have to trade Plexico to the Cowboys after this season.
- writer0213, on 12/02/2008, -0/+9If it's not time for him to go, he's right on the fence. Why isn't every year, there's some NFL receiver leading the way in NFL shenanigans. T.O., Moss and now Burress
- xbxoxy1, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6Kevin Colbert? is he Stephen's cousing?
- phxsuns32, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4Drew Rosenhaus should make some money on the side by showcasing his arsenal of mentally unstable wide receivers.
- drunkirish, on 12/03/2008, -1/+5Don't forget Ocho Cinco.
- AllSt4r, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3woops... was that the trigger?
- Edger, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2this isn't the first problem he has had
- blackinthmiddle, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Yes, the Giants can win without him, but there's no way they're better (on the field anyway) going without the 6'5" 230+ lb Burress. As a Giants fan, I understand chemistry is extremely important and he obviously needs to go. However, we now don't have anybody that commands a double team. Hopefully that doesn't hurt us in the playoffs, but who knows?
- jedijain, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3*sigh*
spell check police? - jedijain, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2yes because thats what the cowboys are doing to pacman
oh wait... - roxgod666, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2*****, sorry i'm late. A lot of traffic on the way home.
*cousin - dafragsta, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Almost all wide receivers are headcases. I don't see how this is any different.
- zzzpoohzzz, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2glad the steelers got rid of him when they did!
- coldwind777, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1oh yeah, it is. he's really not worth all the trouble, esp. with Hixon emerging as a legitimate wideout. They've been playing great with Burress. Honestly, they don't need him, so why put up with the annoyance?
- Th3Wh1teRabb1t, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Yea! it is his cousing, main!
- coldwind777, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1oh, not this year. I think Burress is definitely in the running for #2, but how can Pacman "Adam" Jones not be on top? He's being threatened with a lifetime ban from the NFL. I think it's Pacman.
- jba68, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2They may not be rice, but TO is a workoutaholic. Not sure if moss is. At least To isnt a criminal, Both Moss and Burress have been arrested
With that said, they are def all head cases. - jba68, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1cuz he's hard dog, don't you get it.
- Tonkatsu, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2I don't consider Burress a Moss or T.O. None of them are Rice.
- tinybubs, on 12/03/2008, -1/+3T.O., Moss and Burress are three of the most talented receivers the NFL has seen since Jerry Rice was in his prime, and all three are head cases. Although Moss has been better since he joined New England.
Are their flaky attitudes the quality that makes them great? - Tonkatsu, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1The NFL is quickly becoming the NBA with crap like this. I agree with writer, no need for this in the league.
- ScottoGato, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Sweetness got excited.
- Tom10803, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1No! I only got his jersey a few years ago. damn it. good thing i got a brandon jacobs jersey coming on the 25th
- bigwillystyle, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1yes. thats coming from someone from philly who just wants one less person to have to worry about scoring on us
- Ro4ddog, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2As a Giants fan, I hate to see him go, if only because he SO damn good and can command double coverage from the best of them. That said, he's got the best damn lawyer for the job working to get him off, so I doubt the gun charges will stick and he'll do any time. (His lawyer is the same guy that got Puffy off when he shot a dude in a club and then hid the gun in his SUV's secret gun-hiding compartment. And no, I'm not ***** kidding. Look that ***** up.)
So yeah, if Puff can get away with it, so will Plax. No legal troubles are so bad that massive amounts of cash can't fix it.
His career with the Giants though, is over. - AllSt4r, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2you got beat
- amishjim, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2..and the gun registration just expired months ago. I mean at least it was registered in his name at some point, not like he got it from a crackhead in hells kitchen
- threemagic, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1yes...
next question. - andrewlotta, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1By letting him go, they will allow another team in need of an excellent wide-receiver to be picked up, no matter the possible consequences.
I'm a die-hard Giants fan and really don't want to see him go. He'll change soon enough when he realizes how much of a dumbass he's been. - loki2029, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Bengals would be glad to have him, I'm sure Mike Brown is already thinking about it. Sigh...
- Birukun, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2The guy is up on BS charges anyhow. Gun ownership is not a right in NY City. May as well get rid of all those other rights too.
Football player's murder rate is ridiculously high as a population. Guy wants to defend himself, he should be able to make that choice.
Now getting rid of him because he is an idiot for shooting himself I can see, but not because he was arrested for something that is legal in 40+ other states is weak. - randyzaia, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1"Some might say it’s inappropriate to give an award (to Burress) named in honor of Sean Taylor to a gun on the anniversary of Taylor’s death. We do so not to make light of Taylor’s murder, but to highlight the fact that it was not the implement used in the killing that it is to blame, but the intentions of its user. Guns are not the enemy. Sure, they can be used to kill innocent people, but they can also serve the purposes of good, like when they go off randomly into Plaxico Burress’ leg."
courtesy of Kissing Suzy Kolber - ithejosh, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1nice how did u find that video were you in the club?
- nonstop87, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Didn't you know winning is more important?
- coldwind777, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1not true. He did not have a current concealed weapon permit for his concealed weapon. That is not legal in any states. ANY states.
It wasn't a terrible crime, but it's still a crime. - Tom10803, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1But the Bman sends people to their death bed :'(
- cknyan, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1This seems to stupid to end a career over. He shot himself. I'd think it would be foolish to let him go after this incident if he's able to get through it without jail-time.
- KDX200rider, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1This question doesn't even need to asked. If you are the Giants trying to sell your brand after winning the Superbowl, the last thing you need is to be associated with someone like "Plax".
- fribhey, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1you do know that jacobs is a free agent after this year and may very well not be a giant next year.
word of advice, stop wasting your money on jerseys.... and if you need to have one then get a manning jersey because he's going to be a giant for a very long time - cknyan, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1I don't get why people are digging you down. You're telling the truth.
I don't agree with the penalty (especially after he almost was a product of darwinism), but I still acknowledge it is considered a crime. - aliasfallen, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Plax is an idiot for shooting himself, not a criminal. He carries a gun because he is a superstar and there are a lot of haters out there. Look at Javon Walker who just got beat up in Vegas this year and was left unconscious.
Yes, we all heard he shouldn't had a gun without a permit or should have had bodyguards etc... but he'll serve time for that. He shouldn't be treated as a criminal though who went out and shot someone (other than himself as an accident). Dick Cheney shot someone on accident didn't he? He isn't in prison. - chrissku, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2I'm pretty sure Burress just fired himself. Players need to be held accountable to the corporation they work for just like the rest of us. If I were arressted for shooting myself in the leg and I was a 'face' of the business like Plaxico is then I would fully expect to be let go.
- Edger, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2SLATER!
they obviously don't need him. they are the best team in football, even with out him. - coldwind777, on 12/03/2008, -0/+0what about TOOMAH!? :) (go Blue)
Obviously he's a great receiver, and you definitely lose a certain dimension of the passing game. Talent-wise, the team gets worse, no question. But like you said, he's got to go. When you have to make bail because at the club, you shot yourself in the leg with an illegally concealed weapon, well...that's just a ridiculous sentence. Ha ha, wow.
I will say this, Jacobs and crew have been toting the rock. And well. They've got, hands down, the best ground attack in the biz right now. I don't know, maybe that's enough to suck up that safety to let the wideouts free on the outside. Seems like it has been so far. The Giants can't replace Burress, but I'm confident that they can plan around his absence for the rest of this year. In the future, if Hixon gets better and Manningham isn't injured, I think the two of them can replace Burress.
Manningham isn't big, but he likes to get open deep. Loves it.
Of course, none of this matters, once they get crushed by the Lions in the first round of the playoffs (hey, a man can hopelessly dream, can't he?) - jimw428, on 12/03/2008, -1/+1This moron needs to go to jail for the maximum sentence.
- coldwind777, on 12/03/2008, -0/+0that's not true. Most wideouts are normal. Most headcases are wideouts, but that does not mean that most wideouts are headcases.
