- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The American government has tried to erase our culture from existance.
- smithco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Though I don't think that has much to do with ability. I think it has more to do with population distributions (very few reserves have professional sports teams), and the sad problem that our society still has so much of the First Nations' people in a state of poverty.
But, there have been a number of Native sports legends. One that jumps to mind immediately for me is Deerfoot (anyone in Calgary should recognise that name). He was a famous marathon runner. There's also a few Natives currently in the NHL; Simon and Tootoo come to mind immediately, and there are more. - eyediggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fascinating article!
- fearlessfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll just wait until Hollywood makes a movie version, and then I'll wait for the pirated HD-DVD.
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yet, strangely, you don't see many Native American descendants playing football, or most other professional sports, for that matter.
