- elliotys, on 10/28/2009, -0/+63HEADSHOT!
But seriously, this guy should be convicted of being Criminally stupid, if nothing else. It's kind of hard to call something an accident when you point the gun at the dudes head and pull the trigger. . .TWICE! - nepidae, on 10/28/2009, -0/+45Always assume the gun is not-loaded, right?
- ripple01, on 10/28/2009, -5/+48YO GUY, IMMA HAPPY FOR YOU, IMMA LET YOU FINISH, BUT DICK CHENEY HAD ONE OF THE BEST FRIEND SHOOTINGS OF ALL TIME! OF ALL TIME!
- identityxcrysis, on 10/28/2009, -0/+35What exactly does the fact that they were checking the scores have to do with ANYTHING?!
- veriix, on 10/28/2009, -0/+27Gun Safety 101: Never point at anything you don't intend to send to hell.
- TomT127, on 10/28/2009, -0/+27"were playing with the gun Sunday night after a full day of drinking."
I have no problem with either guns or drinking until you put them together. - str1fe, on 10/28/2009, -7/+31Hooray for the dumbass minority giving more ammunition to the anti-gun crowd.
- UniversalGuy, on 10/28/2009, -0/+24There are over a billion objects to have in the house that are fun but won't kill you, and yet lots of idiots still decide to play with guns like they are some sort of toys.
Guns should be always treated as the lethal objects that they are...and never as something to have "fun" with.
You would think in this internet age of information, people would be a little smarter. But no, this kind of stuff keeps happening.
Remember that guy that shot his girlfriend in the head after trying to show her how to shoot a gun?
It's sad really. - awtripp, on 10/28/2009, -1/+21"Prosecutors believe the alcohol consumption led to the poor handling of a loaded weapon."
Really? I think being a dumb ass probably led to poor handling of a loaded weapon and drinking was just the shortcut in getting there. - KeithLM, on 10/28/2009, -0/+19Well why else would he have the gun out?
- Foxprowl, on 10/28/2009, -0/+18I really want a Newcastle right now
- Gr00ver, on 10/28/2009, -1/+15..and the safety is on.
- OrganDonor, on 10/28/2009, -1/+13Generally speaking, the law recently passed allows individuals with a concealed weapons permit to enter any establishment with a liquor license provided that: A. The establishment has not posted "No Weapons" signs and B. The permit holder is not consuming alcohol.
- chesterogilvie, on 10/28/2009, -5/+16Opposite of majority, not "brown person".
- doublsh0t, on 10/28/2009, -0/+10This is almost as poorly written as articles from truecrimereport. Almost.
- crj123082, on 10/28/2009, -1/+10FTA: "Prosecutors believe the alcohol consumption led to the poor handling of a loaded weapon."
also, alcohol consumption usually prevents my loaded weapon from firing - lead2thehead, on 10/28/2009, -0/+9Rules of Gun Safety:
1) Treat every gun like it's loaded.
2) Don't point it at anything you don't plan on killing.
3) Finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.
Nearly every gun accident involves somebody breaking one or more of these rules. - evilesttoast, on 10/28/2009, -0/+9..and that pointing it at something you want to destroy is okay.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 10/28/2009, -1/+10Oh man, I shot Marvin in the face!
- namslam, on 10/28/2009, -1/+9you know you need new friends when your friends have guns / point them at your head
- omgwtflawl, on 10/28/2009, -0/+8This is why guns shouldn't have external safeties. Too many people think "Oh, the safety is on! That means the gun is safe!". Safeties are mechanical devices that can fail. If you rely on them as your single point of failure to the detriment of other gun safety rules, you are going to get burned (or shot).
- veriix, on 10/28/2009, -0/+8Remember that time I shot you in the head?
...no - yacks, on 10/28/2009, -0/+8This is why you don't play with guns.. loaded or not.. safety on or safety off.
- firesphotons, on 10/28/2009, -0/+7Another example of "idiots in action", anyone who owns guns and uses them safely knows you never point one at someone unless it's time to protect yourself, period! I saw a patient once whose kid thought it would be funny to shoot dad's ass with a BB gun while he changed the target. Jr. Marksman (Ralphy @ Christmas) hit the eye socket just right and put a BB all the way into the skull residing next to the sella turcica, nice shot kid...
- Insightful, on 10/28/2009, -5/+12"A bar is a place. Drinking is an action."
Riiight. And I am just going to a whorehouse, which is a place. - RegalBegal, on 10/28/2009, -0/+7All I can think about is that first moment of terror after pulling trigger and realizing it was loaded without the safety. I get waves of "I wish I could go back just 30 seconds" for just saying something wrong. This guy was an idiot, and I'm sure the feeling of sadness and horror will never leave him.
- khfn, on 10/28/2009, -0/+7Publiclurker, I think it's because he didn't fathom you were implying that the majority of gun owners shoot each other in the face.
- omgwtflawl, on 10/28/2009, -0/+64. Know your target and what is behind it.
- TheAssuager, on 10/28/2009, -0/+6Whaa?
- rizzo2008, on 10/28/2009, -11/+17Retarded ***** like this happens every day but it takes an even bigger moron to use something like this as an excuse for stricter firearm laws.
- R0ko, on 10/28/2009, -2/+7BOOOM HEADSHOT!!!
- inactive, on 10/28/2009, -6/+11were they drinking bud light? i simply need to know.
- SpruceCaboose, on 10/28/2009, -0/+5Attempted, because he did not succeed, manslaughter because they evidently believe him that is was not malicious or intentional.
- SimonWatson, on 10/28/2009, -4/+9"attempted manslaughter"
wat - Falldog, on 10/28/2009, -0/+5Good to see the article's picture demonstrating good gun safety.
- davidrools, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4yeah, kind of makes me understand why states with open or concealed carry laws don't allow them in bars.
- lead2thehead, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4GOOD. People should keep repeating this until everyone learns it.
- mavedatthews85, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4"Prosecutors believe the alcohol consumption led to the poor handling of a loaded weapon."
YA THINK?!
What a ***** moron. At least the friend survived... wow. - jeffwmartin, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4@Alabaster1234, and how else is the owner to let you know that they don't want weapons on their property? They post a sign. The law is the same here in TN. All they have to do is post a sign at the entrance and you can't carry on their property. That applies to every establishment, not just where they sever alcohol.
- mavedatthews85, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4"Hey, so uh... I know I shot you in the head 'n everything, but um... wanna come over this Sunday? Watch the game, have some beers, chips, hotdogs... the gun's gone, I swear."
"Dude, I can't taste anything now because of you. Why would I want to eat or drink anything with you now?"
"Um................ I just got a PS3?"
"... alright." - SpruceCaboose, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4I see nothing wrong with the above safety measures.
Sincerely,
This Guy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pf3ID3XQ6o - Dugglous, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Pointing a gun at someone jokingly is stupid, even with safety on, empty chamber or malfunctioning trigger.
Just don't ***** play with a lethal weapon. - jeffwmartin, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3The sad thing is, he pulled the trigger once and "it just clicked" and he pulled the trigger again. If that is true, it had to be a revolver. A safety generally keeps you from pulling the trigger all the way. If you pull the trigger and it goes all the way back and clicks, the ***** safety is not on!!
- themellowmarsh, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3For those that don't get what Benny is referencing, it's from a Digg post from yesterday - I believe?
- Falldog, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3That's why you should read the source, http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/ ...
- V3n0M, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3You bastards! Two of my best friends died checking football scores!
- awtripp, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3I drank 15 beers over the course of 8 hours on Sunday. Needless to say I was pretty well lit up by the end. I still had no inclination to even point an airsoft gun at anyone I was drinking with.
- SpruceCaboose, on 10/28/2009, -1/+4Disagreeing with your position does not make the other side ignorant. I have met as many smart and dumb "leftists" as I have smart and dumb "rightists", because lets face it, humanity as a whole has both morons and smart people. Intelligence is not dependent on political leanings.
Now, since I am more liberal, I have found many many more liberals I agree with, and many more conservatives I disagree with, but me disagreeing with them is not the same as me saying they are wrong or I am right. We just differ in opinions.
However, if you are really saying that liberals are dumber than conservatives, I would kindly enjoy some support for that claim, as I think it is complete BS. - vtnerd, on 10/28/2009, -1/+4@Alabaster1234
How do you know whether they want concealed carry permit holders there without a posted sign saying they're not welcome?
It's ok for them to ban the practice in their bars, but they do have to notify their patrons so that their patrons don't inadvertently violate the law. - jeffwmartin, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2It's not quite the same as ignoring a no trespassing sign. Part of the handgun carry laws (this is all state specific for TN, so take w/ a grain of salt. Also, we don't have concealed permit, it's just a handgun carry permit, concealed or open) is that if a property is posted, it is a violation of your permit to carry there. You will lose your permit if caught.
