- Olympicarw, on 12/09/2007, -5/+163132 Passing Yards. 29 Passings TDs. 177.85 Passer Rating.
838 Rushing Yards. 22 Rushing TDs.
He averaged 14 carries per game and that didn't even slow him down throughout the season.
Overrated... right. - rickyroca, on 12/09/2007, -13/+22Good to see an underclassmen win this award. Tebow's season stats were just too ridiculous for Heisman voters to ignore. Mcfadden will be huge in the NFL, much more so than Tebow ever will though. Sucks that Mcfadden wont join the club and get the hardware, but a nice 8 figure check can turn that frown upside down.
- WiburTN, on 08/14/2009, -0/+6Yeah, but look at the history of excellence in the SEC. LSU is going to destroy Ohio State in the upcoming National Title game. Ya know why? Just like Urban Meyer said last year when Florida beat 'em. "Just can't compete with that SEC talent and speed." We may not rule over other sports as much as we do football, but any reasonable person has to admit that SEC football is played at a different level.

- quomen, on 12/09/2007, -4/+8Quarterbacks also lead the team, something Colt has been able to do like nobody else here at Hawaii. We're all rallied behind him each game, and even when we're down he doesn't lose his cool. I know we went against pansy opponents, but coming back from 21-0 and having a 41-50 completion percentage with no interceptions and 4 tds is crazy.
- SkaAgent11, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4I said dual-threat, not mobile. There's plenty of examples of great mobile quarterbacks (McNabb, Culpepper, Steve Young, Tarkenton, etc.) but none of those guys could flat out run like Vince Young, Michael Vick, or Tim Tebow. The difference is that Steve Young didn't run to score points, he ran to avoid the pass rush and to keep the play alive. Tim Tebow runs like a running back and roughs the ***** out of defenders...the problem is the NFL defense men are much bigger and faster than in college and will end Tebow's season if he tries to pull that stuff in the NFL.
- wrzhydr, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4So you're saying all of the 955 voters were from the Southeast? Doubt it...
Also, there are 2 candidates from the southeast. Darren McFadden plays in the same conference as Tebow. - bwa236, on 12/09/2007, -2/+5I have to say I was expecting a better speech
- dehemke, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4Except that Arkansas is an SEC team, and even if you want to say they are more SW than SE, they sure as hell aren't midwestern.
http://www.eduplace.com/ss/maps/usa.html - mattxb, on 12/09/2007, -3/+6Wake up people! Everyone knows Ron Paul really won the Heisman. Stop believing the lies!
- NewBeatsGroove, on 07/19/2009, -3/+5if you haven't figured it out yet everything he does turns to gold. he could ***** on the field and everyone would claim it as a great new tactic that will revolutionize the game.
- dehemke, on 12/09/2007, -8/+10It's great to be a Florida Gator!
Go cure cancer. - SkaAgent11, on 12/09/2007, -3/+5Yeah McFadden is going to be much bigger in the NFL. These dual-threat quarterbacks just aren't built for the NFL err rather the NFL's just not built for them. There's not really an example of an offense that has ever used them correctly. Besides a guy like Tebow is going to be a ***** injury nightmare.
- zoroko, on 12/09/2007, -4/+6no he won't, hes a hardcore christian and missionary... he won't sleep with any girls..
and I hate him for it. Hes missing out on so much ass its crazy..
On a side note, I was standing in line with him waiting for a waffle and I didn't know who he was until a friend later told me.. - quomen, on 12/09/2007, -6/+8It was a little disappointing seeing Colt Brennan lose. IMO he was the best at his position which is quarterbacking. Teebow was a decent quarterback but a crazy runner.
- bubba9999, on 12/09/2007, -1/+3Change that to "already slept with" and I think you're right on the money.
- G_money, on 12/09/2007, -3/+5Funny that ESPN said a TEAM can't play for the national title if it didn't win its conference....but then they have no problem pushing a guy for a national award when he didn't even win conference player of the year (McFadden did).
- jf518, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1yeah but if all 12 teams in in SEC and Big 12 played in baseball, the SEC would easily win majority of the games. In most sports, the SEC is the deepest conference.
- FireStrife, on 12/09/2007, -2/+3yea after the BCS choices this year im suprised anything would have made sense.
- Tebixan, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1McFadden had a few really spectacular games, but over the course of this season he really wasn't that great. He got average numbers against below average teams (FIU, Ole Miss, etc). Yes he really came out against LSU and dominated that game, but he wasn't all that consistent overall.
Personally I think Ray Rice and Kevin Smith were better RBs than McFadden. They just didn't get nearly as much publicity. How can Smith have 700 more yards than McFadden and not even be a finalist for the Doak Walker? Tebow deserved the Heisman, but by and large these awards are just popularity contests. - SkaAgent11, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1Vince Young is just a leader...not really a great Quarterback at the moment. But Young looks better and better every day, given the right style offense I think Young could be a great Quarterback.
- jf518, on 12/09/2007, -8/+9Hell yeah for the SEC!! Top two players in the nation from the same conference! Just speaks to the power of the SEC in football, as well as basketball and baseball and every other sport because the SEC is the most dominant conference in sports!
- NewBeatsGroove, on 07/19/2009, -1/+2yah im sure a lot of QB's could score a ton of touchdowns if they didnt have to hand the ball off inside the ten. tebow gets the ball anytime they are near the goaline, 1 yards runs have never been so celebrated.
- AManOfLOP33, on 12/09/2007, -14/+15That speech will go down as one of the great American speeches and will be shown in classes throughout the nation for years to come.
- FeartheKnighted, on 12/09/2007, -4/+5Kevin Smith got snubbed. 2nd all time in single season rushing yards, with a chance to break Barry Sanders all time record (he only needs 180 yards, and will have the chance to get them in the Liberty Bowl).
- jf518, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1wait a minute...who did Kevin Smith play against? nobody...
- PremiumBitter, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2Also: drugs
- SpeedyG, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2Um, you wanna summarize the playoff appearances of the Falcons under Vick?
- cstout47, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2Not to mention having broken Marcus Allen's single season rushing attempts record. Snubbed for the Heisman, snubbed for the Doak Walker.
- theferno, on 12/09/2007, -2/+3we'll find out on january 7th
- interrelate, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2Ron Paul for Heisman Trophy!
- mal1964, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2One person got it?
- diggit23, on 12/09/2007, -4/+5SEC is now, without ANY question, the best conference in college football.
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2It only goes to FBS schools if i reckon
- strafefire, on 12/09/2007, -2/+3If that were the case, then Brennan should have gotten the award...
- sgtbutterscotch, on 12/09/2007, -3/+4Yeah, but that's just one game. Wasn't that like one out of two games they were behind the whole year because of their crappy scheduling? Didn't Hawaii go undefeated last year or the year before? I don't think it's that new for them to look good. I bet Tebow's teammates were just as ready to rally around him as Brennan's were for him. The Gators just had waaay tougher competitors.
- SkaAgent11, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1A quarterback has to be a good pocket passer for the team to succeed. Why? Because there's no pass threat if he's not. Defenses never have to use cover schemes and can just blitz the ***** out of you if you don't have a pocket passer. This doesn't really have to do with racial baggage...there are good examples of black, pocket passing quarterbacks. Last year we could have used McNair, Leftwich, etc. as examples. This year Garrard has been a solid pocket passer. Those might not seem convincing because they're not great quarterbacks, but really how many great quarterbacks are there ever? Most quarterbacks are busts...those guys have been solid though.
- dehemke, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2I don't know. A QB like that who isn't worried about being perceived as something less than a QB just because he is black might just open everything up.
I think Young, and to a degree Vick, would be much better off embracing their skillset instead of trying to prove that they can play pocket passer. Tebow won't have that sort of racial baggage to worry about. - GatorLCA, on 12/09/2007, -1/+1umm...as of right now we are the best. Quit looking in the past, it's all about now not then
- nomadofthewaves, on 12/09/2007, -3/+3@Bojo55 "i like to see what he could do when he cant rely on percy harvin sitting in the flat."
He scores 20+rushing touchdowns, takes a beating and gets up wanting more... - vw195, on 12/09/2007, -0/+0All that and you still cant get 50,000 to attend a game... Pitiful
- FireStrife, on 12/09/2007, -1/+1yea great wheres your team now?
- funkytaco, on 12/09/2007, -2/+2I know his older sister Christy has curly hair, so I don't think that's her (we were in Sunday school together back in the day).
Real pic of him & sis:
http://www.btea.org/images/hist04.jpg
She's a great person (& married now it seems according to name change). Don't know Tim, though, but I bet his dad's not too happy about the pics floating around. - TheSwashbuckler, on 12/09/2007, -3/+3"These dual-threat quarterbacks just aren't built for the NFL"
Yeah, Steve Young had a terrible career in the NFL... - isadalawatatlo, on 12/10/2007, -0/+0I think Brennan got overlooked because of Hawaii's schedule. I guess it doesn't matter how good you are if you are not playing against the right opponents.
Besides, who wants to travel five thousand miles just to lose? -
