- TDammit, on 11/25/2008, -0/+18This is absolutely terrible, and more evidence that Andy Reid needs to be tied to the next bus out of Philly. The only way benching McNabb in favor of someone who hadn't practiced with the first team in months makes sense if if the Eagles were going to finish out the season with Kolb in order to assess his abilities. If McNabb plays on Thursday, it just means they threw away a game they needed to win for no coherent reason whatsoever.
- nickceleb, on 11/25/2008, -0/+9It was a great call putting Kolb in. They only got outscored by 26 points. Not bad.
- GregofJersey, on 11/26/2008, -0/+7It's a shame. This city is on a complete high from winning the World Series (GO PHILLIES!) and now we have the Eagles who can't get a decent QB. I'm losing a lot of faith in the Eagles, not the first time either.
- threemagic, on 11/26/2008, -0/+6right.. because the eagles are an embarrassment. Let me tell you what embarrassment is.. I live in Michigan... you hear of the Lions?
- liljay2k, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4I'll be at this game, yeaaaa!
- getatmedigg, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4I think Andy Reid is a bad coach. Most of the time, it's the coach that is fired first. Reid is the one calling the plays, which as of late are nothing but pass. I think the Eagles are easy to prepare for. Where is the running game? Where is the flexibility? Fire Reid now, and go with the assistant for the rest of the season.
- ChrisJelly, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3I miss the days when the Eagles ruled their division with an iron fist (or wing, whatever).
- cerberus9090, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2They were down 10-7 when he pulled Don. But at that point, he's made 7 turnovers in 6 quarters - very unlike him. Maybe this was meant to be a wake up call.
- LookItsJoe, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2As a Philly fan, I just want both McNabb and Reid gone. If Jeffery Lurie had half a brain he would drop both of them ASAP, but by now I'm just forced to assume he's a masochist who doesn't mind the entire city being embarrassed of the team he owns.
- threemagic, on 11/26/2008, -1/+3Sometimes all a player needs is to be embarrassed and reminded that he isn't above the game to make him snap back to reality. Mcnabb started the year very well and it seems he has almost gotten lazy..
maybe Andy was trying to wake him... - bigsteve, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2I feel we've gotten as far as we'll ever get with this coach/QB pair. We made it to a superbowl and blew it.
That said, I will never be embarrassed or ashamed of my Birds. - GregofJersey, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2So am I. I got dug. I dug your response. Yeah Philly.
- zCharden, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2McNabb at seasons end should be getting a call from a team that is a decent QB away from a Superbowl run. Minnesota is the most likely bidder.
- knuvue, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2He's big news in the football world right now and you are in the football section of Digg...which is a social news site.
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Andy Reid is acting like a ***** right now. He's a much better coach than this. He's the worst play caller in the NFL, doesn't understand what 'clock management' is, and he just can't be trusted with this team. You pull Donovan only down by like 7-ish...WHAT THE *****?!?!
Come on, I thought you were better than this. - metaliq, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Aye. Makes sense.
I have just seen more than a handful of articles make it to the front page recently about him, and, with the front page generally seeming to reflect digg's trends, I was curious if there was something I was missing out on. haha.
Good to know. Thanks. - bigsteve, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1You know, I agree with you that embarrassment can be a tool sometimes, but I really didn't feel the whole "above the game" thing from McNabb. Though that does tend to happen, and in Philly especially for some reason (*cough TO *ack Iverson)
McNabb always, at least to me, seemed relatively humble. Just very inconsistent as a player. Hot one minute, throwing lasers way past the end zone or throwing at players' laces the next. - cle2105, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1who are the Lions?
- cerberus9090, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Andy Reid used to be a good coach. He would throw in clever trick plays and always stay ahead of defenses. I still think he has not been the same coach since his sons got busted. I mean seriously, to what extent can you focus on football when youre two kids are in jail/rehab. Andy has become a one-dimensional play caller, and is too conservative to try anything different. I've been a big fan and supporter of Andy, but I'm thinking its best to part ways. Let him take a year off and sort out the personal stuff, then get back into coaching another ream. But the eagles need a fresh start with a new coach and new qb.
- ethanator1088, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1I think this is the best thing for McNabb, unless they lose Thursday. In that case this was a bad decision. :-)
- metaliq, on 11/26/2008, -1/+2Not that I'm trying to be negative or anything... but why does Digg care so much about McNabb?
- TheZetetic, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Fire Reid.
- Wreckage, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1McNabb is a good Quarterback, they just faced a much better defense.
It's not like Kolb jumped in and saved the day. He got schooled just the same. - bigbillybee, on 02/09/2009, -0/+0Some really cool sites. After you are done reading the article check them out as well
