- Crazd, on 10/20/2008, -1/+94To be honest, I doubt that even the most detailed inside information could help the Lions.
- BlatheringIdiot, on 10/21/2008, -0/+26Lions could watch the highlight reel from an UPCOMING game and still lose.
- jxfallout, on 10/20/2008, -4/+29I can't see this being true. As pissed at the Packers' management as Favre was/is, I can't see him destroying his legacy with the Packers by doing something like this.
- aherman, on 10/21/2008, -1/+11Impossible.
- SDL486, on 10/20/2008, -4/+13Just more falsified soap opera drama. I bet not a single piece of information was shared.
- Thequestion, on 10/21/2008, -0/+9I picked the Lions to lose on their bye week.
A friend had four Lions tickets sitting on his dashboard. He left and came back later to find his windshield smashed. He found two more. - danthepiercer, on 10/20/2008, -1/+10i doubt the Lions could win if Brett Favre was throwing for them!
- miamiflashfan, on 10/20/2008, -4/+12It's practical to use inside information to help your own team, but to go out of your way to help a team that you are no longer even associated with is another thing.
- dirtymerkin, on 10/21/2008, -2/+8I bet the call went like this...
Favre: "Hey, Lions. Ted Thompson is a dumb jack-ass."
Lions: "Yea, we know, but thanks for the call." - MLGLies, on 10/21/2008, -1/+6So that's why the Lions are doing so well this year...
Oh wait - quomen, on 10/20/2008, -4/+91000% True
- ph3rny, on 10/20/2008, -1/+6It doesn't matter the lions couldn't win anyways, even if they knew every play being run...
- cadmiumpaint, on 10/21/2008, -3/+7The Packers are stupid for allowing this to happen. Your long time leader leaves the team to play somewhere else so you have to adjust. You have to change your signals and all that stuff.
Its as if the Packers sold their old computer without erasing the HD. - padraic2112, on 10/21/2008, -1/+5The Packers were able to defeat the 49ers in the mid-90s largely because their head coach was the former offensive coordinator of the 49ers. Head coaches and coordinators truck info with them when they change jobs... hell, they take inside info with them when they become television commentators. Are you going to lambast Madden, Ditka, Young, etcetera?
- ahoy, on 10/21/2008, -2/+6I'm with Driver on this: I'd rather not know.
Don't make me take my poster down; I'm already pissed he got the "itch to play again" after we drafted 2 new quarterbacks. - elister, on 10/20/2008, -2/+6As someone who doesn't live in Wisconsin, but has a ton of family there. I gotta say, you are not a resident of Wisconsin.
The only problem I have with Favre, is waiting until the last hour to decide to come out of retirement. Very weak, but entirely his decision. - beargrylls, on 10/20/2008, -2/+5So we meet again, mnpilot. Is your hobby making ***** up about Favre? You make these ridiculous comments about the man, but always fail to give anything resembling a source. I know Favre's pilot, and he always says that Favre is a great guy. Surprisingly, I'm going to take his word over yours.
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -1/+4Yeah I hate being in Detroit.
- troyfoley, on 10/21/2008, -2/+5Dear Brett-
Please go away.
Sincerely,
Packer Fan - smackydoodle, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4The Lions could be inside of the huddle and still give up 21+ points.
- goreyend, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Ok then why did he want to play with the Vikings
- WalkerTXclocker, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2Unpossible!
- jokertt14, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3Thats great if Brett did the lions need all the help they can get ... and i am a lions FAN !!!
- MrAwesomeMan, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3Yeah, maybe if the Lions had won that game we could have cried foul. But seriously, why does it matter anyway? Even if he did tell them something, it's not like it would help them. The Lions are just plain awful.
In fact, I think that in order to give the Lions a fighting chance each week, they should be allowed to talk to one ex-player of the team they are playing. - clonkid, on 10/20/2008, -2/+4So that is how Detroit kept Green Bay to only 48 points. Oh wait it is because they are 0-6.
- BedPost, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2***** lions
- goreyend, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2***** you, you have the red wings
- stopbrorape, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3 Brett Favre and Calvin Johnson would tear ***** up.
- MrSkrilla, on 10/21/2008, -2/+4Nice analogy. They should have made sure he had a few more concussions before he left.
- stopbrorape, on 10/21/2008, -1/+3This is the equivalent of calling obama a socialist muslim... in Wisconsin.
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1***** you, we have the lions and tigers
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1I just hope the media really investigates this and doesn't just give Favre the pass they always do. If Brett's not guilty, let's find out. If he's innocent, let's demand an apology from Glazer and restore the guy's reputation. Regardless, just don't abandon this story because ESPN isn't running with it (they tend not to when it's not in the best coverage of the organizations that appear on their network). Let's get the truth and evaluate it from there.
- LilyBea, on 10/20/2008, -1/+2I would hate to think this is true, Brett is such a part of the Packers, and I know that what the head office did to him is unforgivable, but it is hard to think he then would turn on his own team which he led so "close" to another super bowl. Green Bay and Packer fans will always be thankful to Brett for so many great memories...
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Any story that makes the MLB, NFL, or NBA look bad, ESPN only reports the minimum, or in this case, nothing at all. This is the problem with having business relationships with these leagues. The same thing happened in the Michael Vick case
- stopbrorape, on 10/21/2008, -2/+3you made me cry.
- Wamzlee, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Jets, Packers play each other on February 1st of next year. Mark your calendar.
http://www.tampabaysuperbowl.com/ - robwicks, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Exactly. Why shouldn't he share any information he can to help them win? Coaches do this all the time. Why hold players to some weird standard?
- stopbrorape, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1A bright sunshine is awaiting you... awaiting you...
- urbandistrict, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1How wouldn't I know what it's about? It's right there in the description!
I stand by my comment, I'm sorry you couldn't comprehend it.
I think cadmiumpaint summed it up best...
"The Packers are stupid for allowing this to happen. Your long time leader leaves the team to play somewhere else so you have to adjust. You have to change your signals and all that stuff.
Its as if the Packers sold their old computer without erasing the HD."
In short, how could you expect for this (NOT) to happen? - jinjin, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1@LilyBea
Atleast TrekHawk understands the situation. You seem to tihnk the Packers management screwed Farve. Nope, Farve screwed the Packers. He forced them into a tough situation no he allegedly sells them out to a division rival? F*ck Bret, Have fun going 7-9 in Jersey, asshat. - javip, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2News Flash....if you don't know what the topic is about, don't comment.
- MrSkrilla, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1i think I know what you are trying to say but it hurts when I try to read it.
- patriamus, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Maybe football isnt your cup of tea? why even bother commenting?
- beargrylls, on 10/20/2008, -4/+5Favre, please don't ruin your legacy in Green Bay with stupid ***** like this. I hope this isn't true.
Also, Lions need way more help than that... - LilyBea, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Congrats! I don't..
- Nightenglow, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1I bet thing kind of stuff happens all the time
- jwalz, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2Not sure about the title of this article. The article didn't say he denied it. I read today that he confessed. http://www.serioussportsnewsnetwork.com/2008/10/fa ...
- aherman, on 10/21/2008, -1/+1I love football. Hate being bombarded with stories about one attention hog.
- multimed, on 10/21/2008, -0/+0Um...they did. Word was out among the league that Favre was doing this & McCarthy knew - they didn't know what teams were involved, but they did in fact change many of their calls. They had already made a number of tweaks to the offense anyway because Rogers is a different player than Favre, so I don't think they're terribly worried. The hour conversation Favre had was in all liklihood, a waste of the Lions' coaches time, obviously it was an hour Favre should've spent working on Jets stuff, and then of course it just gives him another black eye.
The thing that gives me a chuckle - on his interview with Greta, he had that crack about, "Don't you worry about me tarnishing my legacy, I'll worry about that." Doing a bang up job there buddy.
Note to self: always have people you trust who are willing to tell you when you're being an idiot. Big Irv died and Favre lost that, and all that's left are enablers & yes-people. - Trekhawk, on 10/21/2008, -1/+1They exist?
