- wmute, on 05/04/2009, -4/+84Mad for replacing him? HE RETIRED. MULTIPLE TIMES. What does he expect?
Somewhere, John Madden is having a Favre wet dream - jofwooster, on 05/03/2009, -3/+67how many times has he retired now?
- Wreckage, on 05/04/2009, -7/+51Favre will lead the Detroit Lions to their first Superbowl.
- bnchwrmer, on 05/04/2009, -6/+49go home brett, enough of this already
- Shidell, on 05/04/2009, -1/+39As a Wisconsinite and longtime Packer fan, this debacle is incredibly trying.
I grew up watching Favre play, cheering him and our Packers on and admiring him both for his endurance (the Ironman streak) as well as his compassion off the field. He donated not only money but also time to those in need--you can check youtube for videos testifying this.
We stood with him as his Father died, and still he played for us. When his wife struggled with breast cancer, Wisconsin (and most of the NFL watching world) hoped only the best for Favre, a genuinely good-hearted man who gave his all for the Green Bay Packers.
Brett has made poor decisions during the off season about retiring, which puts pressure on the Packers--but we forgave him. In fact, he decided to come back, and again we took him back. Respect, love--Favre was our icon.
Even leaving for the Jets was forgivable. His passion is incredible.
But now he's dragging Green Bay through the mud with this talk, and with it, all of us who stood by him. This is like being betrayed by family. I can't believe this could even remotely be real.
If this comes to fruition, Favre will not be remembered in Wisconsin, he will be hated. The Vikings and the Bears are intense division rivals, and football is life here. He will certainly not be memorialized at Lambeau if he pursues the Vikings, and much more so, you can expect Favre memorabilia to be removed from homes, restaurants and businesses around the state.
As a Packer fan and as a Wisconsinite, this ordeal really brings me down. :\ - psients, on 05/04/2009, -8/+27Let him do it!
We'll catch all his interceptions. GO PACK! - dawglse, on 05/04/2009, -4/+23He changed his mind 2, maybe 3 times before...
He pulls this crap so much I can't even remember how many times it has been. - inactive, on 05/04/2009, -4/+16As a sane Packers fan, I think it's ***** retarded that fellow fans want to "go for his knees".
Ted Thompson is the problem here, he forced Favre out for good. Any chance Packer shareholders can remove him? - paraforce, on 05/04/2009, -4/+14Even though I'm a Bears fan, what Favre is doing to his old team is ridiculous.
Instead of retiring with dignity at the end of his final season with the Packers, he has stuck around as an attention whore and a wash up.
Why he holds so much rage and contempt for a team that simply wanted to move on after his "retirement" with a fresh young QB is beyond me. - cathpah, on 05/04/2009, -18/+28what a BITCH.
attention seeking lame-o. you sucked last season, favre....now get over it already! The packers treated you like a ***** GOD for many years. Are you really that bitter that the balked at your 17th un-retirement last year when they already drafted around you?
ridiculous. go home favre. - Bigmodirty, on 05/04/2009, -0/+9I'm from MN and that would turn my world upside down. I'll just wait and see what happens I guess.
- mattbrad2, on 05/04/2009, -0/+8Why in the world would Minnesota want another QB? This is just baffling
-- Travaris Jackson - sccrplyr40, on 05/04/2009, -0/+8in case nobody knows this, he threw like 40 times a game in NY. They had no solid running game. He would have AP and chester in MN, plus many more weapons on the WR core, AND a defense that can hold the offense to relatively low scores. In MN, he wouldn't get hurt from throwing so much because he wouldnt have to. He could be the Kurt Warner of 2009.
- wadd, on 05/04/2009, -1/+9Ahh... Sportsmanship at its finest!
- vision777, on 05/04/2009, -0/+8I think he should play if he wants to he only has a couple more years where he is physically able to play. This may be his last chance so you don't want to leave the field of play having regrets.
- RIPtechtv, on 05/04/2009, -6/+14Good 2 extra wins for the Packers this season.
- hoisonsauce, on 05/04/2009, -3/+10Which would bring the Packers' record to 4-12 this coming season.
- Kelden21, on 05/04/2009, -0/+7STFU
He's not a pussy, he's just a big kid who loves playing football. I don't peg him as the brightest guy, nor the dimmest. He's simply a guy who likes playing the game, and has trouble knowing when to actually hang it up. - FOR3MAN, on 05/04/2009, -0/+6Well he would play the Lions, that's 2 wins. Another 8 and he could take the division.
- rocketman42, on 05/04/2009, -0/+6"We fired a black coach for going 8-8, rich white guys dont get the same treatment?"
I don't know. Ask Marty Schottenheimer (rich white guy) what happens when you lead your team to a 14-2 record. I'm sure there are plenty of black coaches that have been fired after that record, right dumbass? - beachsouthpaw, on 05/04/2009, -10/+16He gets closer to becoming Uncle Rico every day.......
- rocketman42, on 05/04/2009, -0/+6The Jets didn't even make the playoffs. But he did have more than two wins, so to a Lions fan that probably seems like just a game away from the Super Bowl...
- anexanhume, on 05/04/2009, -3/+9This is so old you can't even joke about it anymore. It's like Chuck Norris, numa numa, and ton of other tired memes combined.
- endustry, on 05/04/2009, -0/+6"Alright, Brett. See those guys in purple. Those are your guys. ONLY throw to those guys. Got it?"
- kyzel, on 05/04/2009, -3/+9Being a (real) Packer fan, I look down upon "Favre" fans like you. Ray Rhodes went 8-8 in Favre's prime. That's terrible. We did as well as we did last year with a first year QB, no running game, and a banged up defense. Had our defense played to it's potential and had we developed a running game like the year before, we'd have made the playoffs. You seem to forget that the Packers lost like 5 games by 7 or less points.
So from all the real Packer fans out there,
STFU - rightwingkiller, on 05/04/2009, -1/+7The Packers treated Favre badly on his way out?
He retired and had his tearfull exit and the team and city wished him well and toasted his run.
Then he changed his mind after they selected a new QB and started a new direction.
Bretts ego is brusied and I wish he would wise up and head for the broadcast booth and a few more millions in TV money.
His desire for revenge for a imagined wrong has already tarnished what would have been a sterling legacy. - Silverskater145, on 05/04/2009, -0/+6I guess no one realizes just how bad of an article this really is. So let's get this straight "one NFL source insists Favre can't peacefully retire until he finds a way to get revenge on the Packers." One source? Right. I wonder if that guy is a player/coach/associate of the Packers.
"Favre can't stand Green Bay. I think he's calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven't heard the end of Favre. No way."
So basically we're all taking this story in from the mouth of a guy, who openly admits he "thinks" his ***** up. The rest of the article was just a bunch of useless plot points from the author.
This isn't a pro-Favre, or anti-Favre rant. The article in question is simply amateur. It's a non-story everyone is falling for. Buried. - MatzahMan, on 05/04/2009, -1/+7maybe he just loves the game
- orangester, on 05/04/2009, -3/+9Brett Favre is officially The Rolling Stones of football.
- elo91, on 05/04/2009, -5/+10He holds most of the significant NFL passing records, he was won multiple MVP awards, and he has a Super Bowl ring. What the hell is he trying to prove? I doubt he could ever play his way out of the Hall of Fame, but he seems to be trying his best.
- inactive, on 05/04/2009, -5/+10***** that guy. everyone calls him a gunslinger when he throws an interception. when another player does they're called reckless.
- fuzzytank, on 05/04/2009, -0/+5this article sounds like speculation for speculation's sake.
- oo7evan, on 05/04/2009, -0/+5Normally I would respond about how you can't spell your own name, but you are Tarvaris Jackson, so that sounds about right.
--Vikings fan. - sccrplyr40, on 05/04/2009, -0/+5We need him, we want him.
-- vikings fan. - theragu40, on 05/04/2009, -1/+6Are you seriously implying that race was the reason that the Packers fired Ray Rhodes? He took a team poised to make a super bowl run and drove it into the ground. On the other hand the current staff took an organization that was old and waning and has breathed new life into it. Your argument makes no sense.
- sgerwel1985, on 05/04/2009, -0/+5Hate on Favre all you want, what made this man great is going to be the same thing that makes him vilified... He is a competitor by nature and loves to compete. At his age, after a 16 week regular season (assuming no playoff appearance), he is so beat up that thinking about doing it all again is not appealing. However, months after (close to mini camp ,OTA's and everything) his body feels better and wants to give it a go.
So, do i blame him? Heck no, this man is a competitor and wants to play. However, i would like to see him take some more time before he makes such drastic decisions. I would have thought, a player of his magnitude would have known better. - Brassbud, on 05/04/2009, -3/+7Brett Favre.
- MatzahMan, on 05/04/2009, -2/+6I would love to see farve come out for another season. Its great to see someone in the league that cares about the game more than anything else.
- schmitey, on 05/04/2009, -1/+5You think if Favre comes back Madden will come out of retirement or vice versa? That would be like looking into a double mirror...
- beerhound, on 05/04/2009, -0/+4No. A game away from the playoffs.
- homer00, on 05/04/2009, -0/+4I'm not sure how credible this outside source is. I'd really be interested to hear what Brett has to say about this. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this article was all *****.
- freeridstylee, on 05/04/2009, -0/+4Wrangler's Jeans
- agentsrecord, on 05/04/2009, -2/+6If he wants to sign with the Vikings and have a shot at the Superbowl, let him. Favre has been nothing but an exemplary player in the NFL for nearly 20 years. If the entire league had the same kind of commitment as Favre the NFL would be a better place.
I don't care one way or the other if he comes back. I just think it's ***** people are treating him like he hasn't been an a great NFL hero. - dandydan973, on 05/04/2009, -2/+5Don't get to excited. He tends to throw it to the other team later in the season. (over & over again) - Just another disappointed Jet's fan.
- zacharytelschow, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3It was the right move. Rodgers had a very steady year and has the potential to be the starting QB for a very long time. You can hang onto your past his prime and getting worse Montana, I'll take up and coming Steve Young.
- seanayb, on 05/04/2009, -1/+4***** you Favre. Seriously.
I'm a ***** Packer fan who once virtually worshipped the ground you walked on until you started acting like a little prima donna bitch. Every time I say I can't stand this guy it seriously hurts me deeply inside, but ***** it, Brett Favre has been acting like a child and we're all sick of it.
That out of the way, I highly doubt he'll play for the Viqueens. But if he does, I will ***** myself. - smacksaw, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3It wouldn't have happened if he didn't have to retire to avoid all of the mandatory training camps Ted and the boys wanted to make his old-ass go to. Sorry, Brett Favre knows more about Brett Favre than Ted Thompson does.
- TheInformer, on 05/04/2009, -1/+4Favre's main use in the Vikings organization will be to chauffeur the team to and from Lambeau Field.
- yacks, on 05/04/2009, -0/+3Marty can never catch a break.. He got fired in 88 from the Browns after going 10-6..
- Dealjobber, on 05/04/2009, -2/+5Gunslingers throw bullets right into the chest of their adversaries, do they not?
