- Bobboq, on 03/02/2009, -0/+48Is it just me or has all the press on this story been centered on the NFL players and not the lost college students?
- Benjigga, on 03/02/2009, -1/+39I just saw video of this guy, he didn't even appear to be badly burnt. He moved himself frmo the HH60 to the stretcher. He is extremely lucky. If we find someone clinging to the side of a boat after that long, they're normally extremely sunburned and blistered. Let's hope for the same with the other 3 individuals.
- USCG SAR Controller - Zegarek, on 03/02/2009, -4/+35Honestly people? You're freaking out this bad about the source of this article just because it's Fox News? What about all of the other blogspam/huffingtonpost/sun/dailymail ***** that gets submitted and Dugg up? I understand the hate for Fox News given their political tones but this article has NOTHING to do with politics. You're going to get the same info here that you would from any other sources.
Now that that's out of the way...
I hope that everyone is found and in good shape. Apparently all of the boaters were experienced at ocean fishing and wore their life vests so my fingers are crossed hoping for the best. - j0hn, on 03/02/2009, -2/+28Fishing?
- j0hn, on 03/02/2009, -5/+31I don't give a ***** what the source is, this is good news.
- foucaultsvac, on 03/02/2009, -1/+25I love how half the digg comments are whining about the source.
Compare this to the reports from other stations and try to find some conservative bias or something. The world waits with bated breath. - BuzzEdition, on 03/02/2009, -2/+25Thank you for your service!
- pathouston22, on 03/02/2009, -12/+33Oh noes, Fox News. Liberals...PANIC!
- frostbyt, on 03/02/2009, -4/+22In other news steroids helps you hold onto boats longer.
- Rainemaker, on 03/02/2009, -1/+1630 miles off shore in the bay isn't quite like 30 miles off shore on the ocean. This isn't untypical for any Florida fisherman.
- Chjoma10, on 03/02/2009, -0/+14That's what makes the news. We wouldn't even have heard about this if it weren't for the NFL Players. It's exponentially more popular because of it... Which is a positive thing, not a negative.
- MisterGnome, on 06/13/2009, -1/+14I played basketball with Nick in high school, he's a good guy.
Crossing my fingers for the other guys. - winter360, on 03/02/2009, -0/+12a 20 ft boat is pretty small especially for 4 people and two are presumably huge. And Thirty miles in a boat is pretty damn far away for just a 20 ft boat
- sockpuppets, on 03/02/2009, -2/+14Based on the shovel and dead hooker in your trunk I think we already know.
- rypic7, on 03/02/2009, -7/+18I am not saying that they deserved this, but what the ***** were they doing 30 miles off shore in a 20-foot boat?
- timusca, on 03/02/2009, -1/+12Glad to see most of the "hate Fox News" posts getting buried... it's ridiculous. Ignore their political section if you want! the rest of the site is news just like any other source.
- ramenite, on 03/02/2009, -1/+11did they find T-Pain?
- bloominoctober, on 03/02/2009, -7/+17AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is it that every time I hear this story, it's about a search for 2 NFL players??? They search is for 4 men (well, 3 now), INCLUDING 2 NFL players!!! What, the other people don't matter because they do not play football? ***** media.
- inactive, on 03/02/2009, -6/+15Because it's FOX, I'm going to automatically assume that it wasn't a boat that was found, but a car and that it wasn't capsized in the ocean, but parked in a handicap spot at a 7-11 and that it held no celebrity corpses, but a cocker spaniel and some cooking supplies.
- j0hn, on 03/02/2009, -3/+12Who cares, this is still good news.
- sockpuppets, on 03/02/2009, -1/+10Because you're worthless if you're not in the NFL. Duh.
- 1kewldude, on 03/02/2009, -0/+8Especially not checking that a front was about to move in.....NFL players or not - it's basic survival skills to check weather forecasts before a fishing trip like this
- KrisStrong, on 04/29/2009, -0/+7Actual photo of Nick Schuyler holding onto the boat before getting rescued:
http://snap.tbo.com/images/100038/photos/2009/03/0 ... - RealmDown, on 03/02/2009, -1/+8You're saying that one found isn't ?
- Chjoma10, on 03/02/2009, -0/+6Doesn't look good. Only one recovered, and he had hypothermia which means that the others probably gave in to the cold. Even tropical waters are no match for humans if you can't get the majority of your body out of the water and on some sort of a flotation device.
- KimmyGibbler, on 03/02/2009, -3/+9atypical*
- Nickolassc, on 03/02/2009, -2/+8Fox has news as well as commentary. Just chalk this story up to actual news and not "spin"
- saunders45, on 03/02/2009, -0/+5It was pretty cloudy most of the weekend here in Tampa. Saturday was not bad, but it was cloudy, rainy, and cold most of Sunday. I'm guessing that's why he wasn't sunburned. UV couldn't get through that much cloud cover.
Picture here:http://snap.tbo.com/photos/index.php?id=2237073&am ... - tonynf89, on 03/02/2009, -1/+6OMG, Nationally recognized figures gaining more attention than the two random persons. RAGE, RAGE.
really, what did you expect? - whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5"Is it required to tell everyone what the ***** you do in your own privacy?"
Nope, not at all. We'll just go ahead and call off that search. Wouldn't want to impose. - Adgeman, on 03/02/2009, -2/+6So slanted is the new word for biased eh?
- Biscuitz, on 03/02/2009, -1/+5You're right.
- afruff23, on 03/02/2009, -0/+4I guess he's not on a boat.
- a1cd, on 03/02/2009, -0/+4Never Thought I'd be on a boat..
- btschul, on 03/02/2009, -5/+9Jesus, does the article say "Those damn liberals turned over some dude's boat"? No? Then stfu about the story being from Fox.
- RealmDown, on 03/02/2009, -0/+4They are called ankorroids.
There are also some that let you hang on to pickups -- Hemi-roids - inactive, on 03/02/2009, -3/+6Beer + steroids + deep sea fishing. what could possibly go wrong!
- cliffotn, on 03/02/2009, -2/+5Fishing indeed - I've been out where they were on a 21' Boston Whaler literally dozens of times - my brother's boat. At times the traffic on a Saturday morning heading out feels like a heavy urban commute out there. It's not the least bit uncommon to go out even farther, 60 miles+ in such a boat. A 21' sea-worthy boat with dual outboards is a fine craft on the Gulf Of Mexico. Usually the Gulf is tame as can be. To get overturned by heavy waves in those waters is really uncommon. With dual outboards you have redundancy, everybody navigates via GPS today, and if you DO get stuck there are sea tow craft just a radio away. You see them all the time off Clearwater and St. Pete, Joe McSchmuck runs out of gas, they come to the rescue.
This is a freak accident, I'd venture a guess it's more dangerous to drive to work than go out 30 miles in a 21-footer - assuming standard boating safety precautions are observed. - tonynf89, on 03/02/2009, -1/+4Buried for bad joke.
- KrisStrong, on 04/29/2009, -0/+3LIVE Video Coverage:
http://www.tampabays10.com/news/custom/story.aspx? ... - toekneebullard, on 03/02/2009, -0/+3dug for "untypical"
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2I don't believe this because its from Fox News! When will the Huffington Post confirm this story?
- hokie47, on 03/02/2009, -1/+3Cliffotn is right. Now I would never take my 22" foot Boston Whaler out any further than 15-20 miles. I think they failed to look at the weather before they went out. We had a rather large cold front that came through
- xsecretfiles, on 03/02/2009, -4/+6Glad to hear one is alive. He is cute though :)
- d3dm, on 03/02/2009, -2/+4Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny Ship.
And well, I'm sure you know the rest of the story. - timusca, on 03/02/2009, -0/+2I don't understand the hatred even WITH the political tone... people act as though every other news source doesn't have a liberal tone to it. Basically, Fox News is a joke simply because it doesn't agree with the people on here.
So freaking hypocritical... - KrisStrong, on 04/29/2009, -2/+4Actually I submitted it first....but whatever...this is Digg....this ***** happens.
http://digg.com/football/Missing_NFL_Boat_Possibly ... - whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2The "NFL player" part is the distinguisher. Might as well complain why people were so damn interested when the plan carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper went down. After all, there was a pilot aboard. Why doesn't anyone ever mention him?
- timusca, on 03/02/2009, -1/+2Oh no, Fox News has a conservative spin...
Seriously, WTF? I assume you're into CNN and whatnot that has a liberal spin, but they're not evil at all... oh noooo, not at all. - timusca, on 03/02/2009, -2/+3And because this is Digg, I'm going to say you're a dumbass.
