- mike11stevens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I am confused, is that Peyton Manning, winner of 0 NCAA national championships or Peyton Manning winner of 0 Super Bowls?!?
- mike11stevens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was a little disappointed not to see the VOLS make this list for squandering half of the nation's talent pool year after year with nothing to show for it....
- MoonDogAFO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Woot! UB Class of 1990 here, and pumped to see that the University of Buffalo is not the #1 worst team in this poll! I used to be a cheerleader for basketball...great way to meet girls, register early for classes, and use the good weight facilities reserved for athletes!
That being said, I keep hoping to see them improve in football. The UB Bulls men's basketball team came damn close to the NCAA Tournament 2 years ago, and seem to have benefited from that experience. The football team hired Turner Gill to be head coach, and now it is time to see if Gill can take what he learned playing at Nebraska and turn the tide in Buffalo.
UB has also been warned by the NCAA that its attendance numbers aren't cutting it, so they had better start doing well or they might get penalized, or even removed from Division I-A.
The big joke here around Buffalo is that Syracuse should play UB every year so they can be assured of at least 1 win per season. - hoosierplew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think iiTenaciousG is talking about this Peyton Manning...
(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_Manning#Records)
Manning holds a number of individual career records:
* Consecutive seasons with 4,000+ yards: 6, from 1999–2004 (Dan Marino is the only other quarterback to have had six 4,000-yard seasons, though not in succession)
* Consecutive seasons with 25+ TD passes: 8, from 1998-2005 (current)
* Games with perfect passer rating: 4 (includes 1 playoff game; most perfect games of any QB since passer rating was created by the NFL in 1973)
* Only player to pass for 3,000+ yards in each of his first 8 seasons in the NFL. (current)
* Manning has started every game since he has been in the NFL, a streak currently at 128 games, the longest career-opening streak for a QB. (current)
It took John Elway 14 seasons to win his first super bowl; Peyton has time.
Mike must be a Titans fan. Its okay to envy the Colts, Mikey. - ronaldhennessy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Never take the bottom 10 with a grain of salt. Who knows, something completely different could happen to one of those teams. Anyone remember the Central Florida Knights (or to be correct the UCF Knights)? They were on that list last year with Division I-A's longest losing streak, win less throughout 2004. They just happened to turn things around and actually showed up in its first bowl game last year.
You never know... - arcele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The lesson of this list is that if you want your college football team to stink, make the mascot an Owl. The bottom 10 is one of my favorite links on espn.com
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hell yeah! UB is #2! Toilet Bowl thurs.... Temple @ UB...
- MoonDogAFO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Syracuse has produced some great NFL talent, so it isn't all that amazing to consider that McNabb came out of that program. SU will come back....or at least, that's what my father keeps praying for! He'll keep dragging my mom, myself, and my wife up there to use his season tix, but damn - it's a 6-hr roundtrip to do that for us! The least they could do is win a couple this season to compensate us.
- skunkman62, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you are correct, sir!
- chance1376, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh rats my Kent State Golden flashes are 4th despite decades of futility.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1but UB will be making $$$ to help build the program...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What do they know! They missed Mississippi State who have like 6 wins this millinium.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Go Aggies. We're #3, we're #3, we're #3! Somebody remind me why I buy season tickets for an 0-12 team again? *sigh* At least our basketball team is respectable.
- jlawson1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they forgot the university of kentucky, imho...
- scotsworth788, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh Temple, do you even know what a football looks like?
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like two of the "waiting list" teams: the non conference schedule of Alabama and Wisconsin. I just checked Alabama's schedule: Duke, ULM (huh?), and Hawaii. Nice. There needs to be a penalty in the computer ranking models for playing non conference patsies. Why does Alabama play Duke, while Vanderbilt (always at the bottom of the SEC pile) plays Michigan. Not Souteast Michigan Teachers College, but University of, Go Blue and all that.
- elmro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My alma mater, the University at Buffalo, is ranked as the 2nd worst team in D-I. They will be taking on the 6th ranked team in the country, Auburn, on Saturday, September 23rd. This will be the biggest blowout in the history of sports, period.
- oe800, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My team is always on the bottom 10... GO VANDALS!
i guess that's what you get when your school is in a town called moscow... pronounced mosKO, not mosCOW, we are sticklers for details! - ForfeitTheGame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amazing that Syracuse produced Donovan McNabb. I remember when they were at least DECENT.
Oh, nice reference at the bottom to Oregon's uni's. I actually somewhat liked the ones last year. - Xenif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I feel it's a lil depressing to downgrade these student-athlethes by releasing a 'Bottom 10'. NFL, I could understand, they are professionals, but these kids are student-athletes and regulations willing don't get any sort of compensation.
- iiTenaciousG, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Peyton Manning?
