- jjones07, on 07/31/2008, -15/+166You can flame him if you want, but he's standing on his principle. Too many money-hungry, weak-minded people forget who they really are when presented with fame and riches. Not everybody would do what he's doing, but people ought to respect the guy's choice.
- basye, on 07/31/2008, -18/+149Good for him, he's not concerned about the publicity. We know his family well and this young man is well-grounded.
- inactive, on 07/31/2008, -6/+122Wow you don't see that happen in sports very often
- JerichoSam, on 07/31/2008, -13/+104Good for him, for standing up for what he believes and not selling out for money or fame.
- BaudiIROCZ, on 07/31/2008, -18/+74Who cares if Tebow is in the playboy lineup?
I wanna see his girlfriend in playboy!
http://www.shoutmouth.com/index.php/images/der/L3Z ... - southwestnut, on 07/31/2008, -18/+60As somebody who know him personally and goes to church with him, I know that he was walks "the straight line" Why make jokes about someone who decides to live the clean life for once in our society?
- 1337H4x0rz, on 07/31/2008, -11/+52Someone standing firm for what they believe in. Good for them.
- mycatsboots, on 07/31/2008, -15/+55I hope he can stray from his christian beliefs once and awhile to dump his load on her chest.
- Eldorian, on 07/31/2008, -5/+42Atheists, except for the ones who are seriously a bunch of hypocrites, should be able to respect his decision.
Although there's always those who feel the need to cram their beliefs down the throat of others much the same way some Christians do. - Linkin4, on 07/31/2008, -7/+41Holy ***** those things are bigger than her head
- phoenixshard, on 07/31/2008, -5/+36"Playboy Sports Editor Gary Cole downplayed the university's decision, however, and said that Tebow would not have made the team anyway."
A Heisman Trophy winner that wouldn't have made their team? Sounds more like Playboy got a little miffed about it. - tjsgigante, on 07/31/2008, -6/+36Props to him! Way to stand up for what you believe!
- whodoes, on 07/31/2008, -3/+29Not this atheist.
I don't agree with the source of his moral system but i certainly dont take issue with his standing by it in a way that doesn't infringe on anyone else's. I choose to ignore the teenage digg-trolls on both sides of the all too inevitable flame fest. - owenkun, on 07/31/2008, -17/+43But what if I only read it for the articles?
- matthewaaron, on 07/31/2008, -4/+28Why do people have to act like douches just because they disagree with what someone believes?
- serif69, on 07/31/2008, -33/+57Here come the atheists judging people for their choices...
- pauleric, on 07/31/2008, -6/+29"Editor Gary Cole downplayed the university's decision, however, and said that Tebow would not have made the team anyway." Yeah, Playboy wouldn't want any Heisman Trophy winners on there, bad for their image.
- norman619, on 07/31/2008, -4/+26Yeah he's a nut simply because he chooses to be true to his moral and religious beliefs.
Sounds to me like you feel threatened by the example he set. Most people say one thing and do another. It's refreshing to see someone try to live up to morals and ideals they were raised by in a world that teaches you that nothing is really wrong as long as it makes you feel good. There is nothing wrong with what he did. You call him a religious nut because he does not believe as you do. You are guilty of doing what many people who tend to think like you do say the religious nuts do. - charm803, on 07/31/2008, -10/+30Must be hard being a virgin professional athlete now a days.
- schnikies79, on 07/31/2008, -14/+33You can bash him all you want, but his balls are twice as big as anyone here.
- slifty, on 07/31/2008, -20/+38Because only atheists judge, right?
- UTKevdawg, on 07/31/2008, -3/+21As a Tennessee fan I have to hate Tebow as long as he is Gator. However, I can't wait until he graduates because he has a lot of character and does a lot of good for others. I really respect him, just not his choice in football teams :)
- empraptor, on 07/31/2008, -0/+18As much as I prefer scientific method over religious mumbo jumbo posing as science, I don't think your comment is relevant to the article.
- jp12380, on 07/31/2008, -1/+18I'm sorry his beliefs make you feel bad about yourself.
- davewashere, on 07/31/2008, -9/+23Although I usually rail against the influence of religion on our society, Tim Tebow seems like the real deal. He's a Christian who actually follows Christ and not some douchebag profiteer like Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson.
- BOFH2, on 07/31/2008, -0/+13that is your opinion. It is funny when someone chooses to "go green" or what ever the flavor of the week is they are commended for making a personal choice. However, make a choice based on your personal belief in God and guess what that gets you from people like you?
- southwestnut, on 07/31/2008, -6/+19enjoy the sewer then :>)
- vulapine, on 07/31/2008, -0/+12Well said.
We can disagree without insulting one another. - devnullDood, on 07/31/2008, -5/+17Holy!
- BW1021, on 07/31/2008, -7/+18tim tebow wears jorts.
http://vmedia.rivals.com/UserMedia/FanPagesPhoto/G ... - jwhitman89, on 07/31/2008, -3/+14I know the Tebows through a friend. They're good people who stand up for what they believe in whether it's popular or not.
- drlha, on 07/31/2008, -0/+10***** probably doesn't count as sex as its not in the bible though.
- NJHiker, on 07/31/2008, -0/+10Um . . . you mean Tebow, not Heisman, right?
- Namakemono, on 07/31/2008, -3/+12He is so living in sin. Good for him.
- twoboxen, on 07/31/2008, -3/+12Finally an athlete that (at least publicly) isn't "making it rain".
- Eldorian, on 07/31/2008, -0/+9"I mean, would you walk alone, naked in Harlem at night?"
No - I'd rather not get arrested for indecent exposure. - matthewaaron, on 07/31/2008, -1/+9Just when I was starting to feel proud of diggers for not acting like fools on this post, you had to go and ruin it...
- Mier, on 07/31/2008, -5/+13Don't try to talk about something you don't have any understanding of.
- loganro, on 07/31/2008, -7/+15That is pretty cool for him! It's got to be hard to miss out on this honor for their beliefs. I can't stand the Florida Gators but he seems like he is a good dude.
- jp12380, on 07/31/2008, -1/+9I guess it must make you feel a least a little bit guilty when you see someone that actually has some morals. Sorry he ruined your ability to live the way you want and think it's just fine.
- matthewaaron, on 07/31/2008, -0/+8Few people on here knows anything about either one of those things...
- boardthis, on 07/31/2008, -4/+11"Playboy Sports Editor Gary Cole downplayed the university's decision, however, and said that Tebow would not have made the team anyway"
Ha! Who are you trying to kid? - BOFH2, on 07/31/2008, -1/+8because too many times we have seen people give up and do something just because it was the popular idea at the time and then regret that decision.
- dynamojoe, on 07/31/2008, -6/+13I haven't heard him doing the whole "God helps me succeed" thing that so many athletes do nowadays. He has his beliefs, he's sticking to them, and he's not in-your-face about it. Good for him. I wish more sports figures would follow his example and keep their faith to themselves a little more.
- danielf30, on 07/31/2008, -5/+12Wow a player with a head on his shoulders what will happen to this sport next :P
- chanop, on 07/31/2008, -2/+9Internet Tough Guy
- markgl, on 07/31/2008, -8/+14scientific knowledge created the atom bomb too.
- Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -9/+15Dugg for moral authority.
- IPublius, on 07/31/2008, -3/+9God is not going to cast you into Hell for going to a Playboy magazine function. What you stand condemned for before Him is your sinfulness. It is not going to be just one act that will do it (although that would be enough) but a multitude. All have sinned (including Christians). All continue to sin (including Christians). All need His help to get to Heaven (including Christians). What God says is that He wants to help you because you cannot do it on your own.
Someone is not going to go to Hell because they are gay or into porn or murder someone or lie or lust after others. People go to Hell because of their choice not to accept the free gift of life through Christ Jesus. As a Christian, Tebow chooses not to go to Playboy out of a desire to do what he feels is right and will please the God that he loves. I think this is a fundamental misunderstanding that people have of Christianity.
Christians don't fear Hell because we do not believe that we will ever go there (and if the atheists are right we still won't end up there). Christians do what they feel to be right out of a desire to please God, not a fear of what will happen if they don't. Our actions (even though we screw them up frequently - far from perfect here;) are done out of love, not fear. We believe that God loves us (and you and everyone else) and since we love Him in return, we do what is pleasing to Him. God does care even about the small things in your life. It doesn't mean He doesn't care about the big things, just that He cares more than you give Him credit for. Christian self-sacrifice is much like the sacrifice anyone might make for a child, a parent, or a loved one.
Apologies for the length, but you asked. - Christianptriot, on 07/31/2008, -5/+11God does not condemn anyone to eternal hell - they condemn themselves by their actions, lack of faith and their unyielding adherence to the perceived greatness of mankind's own understanding.
