- jerintate, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5Hunt agreed to tear down the team to rebuild. Herm has a solid, constantly improving young team, as well as over $30 million in cap room with great draft positioning. He should have at least one more year to capitalize on the work he has done so far. If he succeeds, great, and if he fails, we will have Bill Cowher in 2010. Win win situation.

- cloudcity, on 01/14/2009, -1/+4Midwest Chiefs fan here. I had high hopes for Herm, but his clock management is absolutely horrible and his internal risk analysis is really bad too. He punted WAY too many times on 4th and short where it simply did not make sense.
We have the players I think, and will draft well again this year - but we need a strong leader to coach. Cowher would be amazing, but I think somebody like Steve Spagnuolo from the Giants could be a great fit, although he would need to find a great OC, as he is more defense minded, and we are already pretty strong there...

The guy bailed on the Jets to go to KC after swearing to the fans he was not looking to leave. KC gave up the pick used to select Leon Washington as compensation. Now, he gets fired. Karma is a *****.

His 3 years have been plagued by Green/Huard/Croyle/Thigpen QB controversies, one year of a RB controversy and now he's got a young team that everybody expected the world of that did as rookies do and got tired in the 2nd half. If Herm stays, we can look to improvement next season. If Herm goes, we have yet another rebuilding year as KC's rookie team spends the season learning a new system.

You can blame our last few seasons of Carl all you want, but the fact of the matter is is that every other coach under Carl has won more games, some of which in less games. Herm never stepped up to tell him maybe we should try something different and let him suck ass for two seasons.
Gunther Cunningham was fired as head coach for only winning 16 games in 2 years. Herm has only won 15 in 3! What a ***** failure. We need to snatch up a good coach while there is still one available. Especially if Hunt wants the fans to fill the seats next season. - chesterogilvie, on 01/14/2009, -1/+2Herm is not the answer. Usually I agree that coaches aren't given enough time to actually have an impact before they're fired but Herm just isn't a capable coach. He's a players coach.

That being said I disagree that Herm should be let go this season. The man was bought in to rebuild an aging team under Carl with the blessing of Lamar Hunt. There was some pretty ***** up stuff that happened to my Chiefs (Brodie Croyle) that ended up killing the offense for the first half of the season. Let Herm finish the damn contract out....
