- Slashered, on 01/24/2009, -2/+10Chiefs looking at Shanahan and Cowher: http://blogs.usatoday.com/thehuddle/2009/01/is-sha ...
- dancinns, on 01/24/2009, -4/+12Shanahan to KC is just wrong.
- sinurgy, on 01/24/2009, -1/+9If Shanahan is offered the job, you can bet your ass he'll take it, if for no other reason than to take out revenge on the Broncos organization. He did it to the Raiders, just you watch!
- coltrane68, on 01/24/2009, -0/+6Herm Edwards is a terrible coach. When he had an average team with the Jets, he would constantly play for the tie (what's more fun to watch than that?). He took KC from mediocre to crappy. He should not be recycled once more.
- krahzee, on 01/24/2009, -2/+8Karma is a *****. Herm ***** the Jets over to go to KC, so he desrves what he gets.
For those not in the know, he pushed to get let out of his contract or the KC job, in part because he was not happy with the deal HE signed. As the rumors swirled that he wanted out he lied to the fans claiming he wanted to stay. This is after the Jet gave him his first chance as a head coach.
At least KC had to give the Jets a pick for him. They used it to draft someone you may have heard of: All-Pro Kick-Returner/ Running Back Leon Washington. - partysan, on 01/24/2009, -1/+5Well, if Shanahan is the Chiefs coach next year, then the broncos are basically paying him to coach KC. I love it!
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Shanahan nowhere near close to a deal with the Chiefs - what a surprise - Mortensen wrong with "breaking news."
- alphabetagaga, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Yessir John Hodgman sir.
- avsfan987, on 01/24/2009, -1/+4Can we just stop these stupid Shannahan to KC rumors?
Schefter is a MUCH more reliable source when it comes to Shannahan than Mortenson is.
And it's all been admitted now, Mortenson was wrong and Shannahan will not coach the Chiefs this year. It's not like he would ever want to coach the Chiefs anyways, they're not exactly doing all that great.... - mgadalsky, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2Wow! I swear i saw it on freshmeat or somewhere else. http://drinkster.info
- refugeechris, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3The new coach of the Chiefs will be Todd Haley.
Book it. - misfit32, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3Shanahan is not going to KC... it was all they talked about on the radio today in Denver.
- manjy90, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2I'm fairly sure the next Chief coach will be: Todd Haley, Mike Shannahan, Bill Cowher, or Chan Galey. Those are the only possible candidates at this point.
- alphabetagaga, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2So it was a shrewd move by the Jets to try and get something out of a coach who they were going to let go eventually anyway?
- kizio, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Awesome. I swear i saw it on freshmeat or somewhere else. http://petsjournal.info
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -2/+4Shanahan isn't going to the Chiefs.
- 2Six119, on 09/10/2009, -1/+3Shanahan with any team besides the Broncos just doesn't feel right. Like a step dad trying to act like your real dad.
- rdldr1, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3Bullocks!
- YankeeSR23, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2I just think its funny that the Chiefs had to give up a draft pick to get him as their coach. Basically that means they traded for him.
I was happy to see him leave the Jets cause he wasn't that good to begin with here. And now he is gone from the Chiefs. He was not good there either...anyone else seeing a pattern? - triggerfish45, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Shanahan's AFC West trifecta will be complete.
- McDeath, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Good news, this guy made some ***** play calling during the season... he got what he deserved!
- krahzee, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Jets were not looking to fire the guy. They went 10-6 in 2004 (the year before) with a QB playing with a tear in his rotator cuff down the stretch.
Herm's last season was nobody's fault. The Injurys that year were just horrific. Ownership knew that.
Below are just the season ending ones:
QB Chad Pennington - Tore his rotator cuff
QB Jay Fielder - Penington's backup, tore his shoulder up too 6 PLAYS later in the same game
RB Curtis Martin - Knee Injury that ended his HOF career. Led the NFL in Yards in 2004
WR Wayne Chrebet - Concussion that forced him to retire the next June
C Kevin Mawae - Perrenial Por Bowler, lost for the year to a torn Bicep
RT Jason Fabini
Those are just the season ending ones. Others, like most of the o-line missed weeks at a time to various injuries, but managed to avoid the IR. - bitmanx, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2Marty Schottenheimer will be coming back..
- orthodoxDrew, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1also, he wants to be GM, and i think the broncos want to separate the GM/Coach thing
- imikedaman, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!
- upstream1, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Just another public relations move. KC needs to get more talent,
they've been running the team with one or two pro-bowlers for the
past 10 years, tightends and running backs usually but even Montana
graced the field. The team ownership isn't interested in a superbowl
just filling the seats, to a point. - Ajaynow, on 01/24/2009, -2/+3Shanahan going to the Chiefs is about as likely as Shanahan going back to Oakland.
It's not going to happen. - FriedSperm, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1You PLAY to WIN the GAME!
- diggThis77, on 01/27/2009, -0/+1A crappy KC job?? Tons of young talent, high draft picks with a ton of cap room and a GM that wants to win ASAFP to prove he's legit....yeah I can totally see why no one would want the job...
- Verugan, on 01/30/2009, -0/+0they are AFC West rivals
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -1/+1The Jets weren't going to bring him back anyway.
- ThatsNotPudding, on 01/24/2009, -4/+4Suuuuuck. I hate that weasel-faced jerk! Seriously, Shanahan twitches his face more than an epileptic chipmunk. Now one of the few teams I'm interested in watching will start engaging in cheap-shot chop blocking by the O-line - Bronco style.
- Ugoff, on 01/24/2009, -2/+2I wish Cowher would go to the Broncos but I guess he won't come back for the 09' season :(
- avsfan987, on 01/24/2009, -4/+2Why the hell would Shannahan take a crappy KC job when he could wait a year and have a MUCH better option?
And also, Shannahan has no dislike against the Broncos at all, he will always be known around here as the best coach we've ever had and he admitted himself that he loved it here. Plus, Pat Bowlen isn't a crooked cheapskate like Al Davis is.... - Kramer7, on 01/24/2009, -3/+1As long as Herm Edwards is gone I could frankly not give a crap as to who they hire. It would be near impossible to hire a worse coach.
....
...
Though if it could happen it would be KC. They'll probably take a high school coach.
(KC fan btw) - AmnesiacJack, on 01/24/2009, -7/+4KC needs to pick up Gruden.
That is all.
