- Dagreenman, on 01/01/2009, -1/+18THE DOLPHINS ACTUALLY MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS. WHHHOOOOOOOOOo!!!!!!!!!
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -0/+15Good for Pennington. Giving hope to all the noodle-arms out there.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -2/+15"Good thing my Jets dropped the guy. Awesome, that did us well" your jets had a 4-12 season last year with pennington as QB. bringing in favre did plenty to help.
- irfanmp, on 12/31/2008, -2/+12He deserved to be in the Pro Bowl as well, but I'll settle for winning the division.
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -1/+9yea and he didnt get any help from all other players and coaches that parcells hired either right? he did it single handedly right? i mean his presence was the one single difference between the dolphins last year and this year.
- fakeplasticsnow, on 01/01/2009, -1/+8It's amazing to see how much better he has played this year compared to last year. It reminds me of seeing him play at Marshall back in the day.
- maddogmiamian, on 12/31/2008, -3/+9You betcha! Pennington was simply marvelous this year. So awesome that he beat Favre...that old man is so overrated.
- Jabrams2, on 12/31/2008, -2/+6actually...I attribute our "success" this year with the GM going out and signing every free agent he could, like Calvin Pace, Kris Jenkins, Alan Faneca, Tony RIchardson, Damien Woody....."
- OnSolThree, on 01/01/2009, -0/+4It tends to be easier to throw the ball when you've got the running game that a free agent-improved offensive line gives you. Thomas Jones went from averaging 3.6 ypc last season to 4.5 ypc and a Pro Bowl berth this season.
- Sford923, on 01/01/2009, -0/+4Pennington threw 10 TDs last year, Favre threw 22 TDs this year. You honestly think Favre had nothing to do with the 5 win improvement the Jets had this year?
- Ajajadude, on 01/01/2009, -1/+4followed by a first round loss...
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -2/+5overrated? he took a 4-12 team and turned them into a 9-7 team. pennington couldnt do ***** on the jets. he only started playing good when surrounded by all the good players parcells hired in miami. lets see chad pennington accomplish half the ***** that favre has and then we can see whose overrated.
- KDX200rider, on 01/01/2009, -0/+32nd comeback, seems like Chad has a consistency issue. I am betting that next year won't be a repeat.
- ShugNinx21, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3That may be true, but after last season, going 11-5 and making the playoffs is far more then what was expected.
Anything extra in the playoffs is just gravy. But you never know, they have a chance to win their first playoff game.
Oh, and a there was a Divisional title...
And knocking the Jets outta the playoffs..
As well as the Pats....
And sweeping Buffalo...
It has already been a damn fine year to be a Dolphins fan. - Cannon49, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2IDK about that but Bryant being on my fantasy team lead me to the 'ship!!
- WillisDickfit, on 01/01/2009, -1/+3Should have been Antonio Bryant. Dude went from being out of work all last year, to scoring touchdowns this year. Chad Pennington did do a great job, though.
- ElvenLemming, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2Didn't Garrison Hearst win it twice too? I seem to remember one of the times he won it was after completely shattering his ankle.
- psychotron, on 01/01/2009, -1/+3Well, last offseason totally worked out well for the Jets. The Dolphins have a QB for the next 5 years and the Jets are about to go through a HELL of an offseason with a certain drama queen. Congrats Pennington...
- fokov, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2Favre was hurt. He was hurt in his throwing shoulder at (what?) 39? Its amazing what he did the first half of the season, but even a machine wears down over time. If Farve was healthy he would have gotten them to the playoffs. It was a poor coaching decision to not sit him and let him heal a little bit instead of increasing the injury each week.
#4 is the man. - deac714, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1Respect due. People thought he was trash heap material...again. Yet he proved them wrong, again. The one he got the first time, Kellen Winslow II should have got but he definitely deserved this one.
- davewashere, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1The Jets weren't really built around Pennington last year. I don't think he works that well in a conventional offense, because he doesn't have the arm to make defensive secondaries respect the long ball. The Dolphins went for the unconventional offense this year, and it worked well. You've got direct snaps to running backs, running backs handing the ball off to other running backs, running backs handing the ball off to Pennington and then running out for a pass, etc. It keeps the defense confused because they're never sure where the ball is and where it might be going. The Jets scheme just had Pennington dropping back, and everyone knew that he was either going to make a short pass or a 15-20 yard pass. That led to cornerbacks sitting on routes and safeties crowding the middle of the field. Allowing the defense to cheat in also takes away from the running game. To top things off, the Jets didn't have much blocking last year.
- deac714, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1True...the first time(1995), Hearst shared it with former QB and current Stanford Coach Jim Harbaugh.
- netant, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1And with a high rated run offense, it was unbelievable we didn't just go ground against one of the west coast teams.
- smacksaw, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1Wow, 27 comments and we're not drowning in Gravity13's tears. I mean, 27 comments and probably 14 of them are him complaining about the fact that people on Digg actually like sports. Yet we have zero. Maybe for 2009 he will stay out of our house.
Anyway, I'm sure Pennington will revive the Vikings in a few years after being written off from the Dolphins. - deac714, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1As Bernie Kosar proved, it's not about how far or how hard you sling it, it's about where and who you throw it to.
If you don't believe me, ask Jim Druckenmiller. - netant, on 01/01/2009, -1/+2No need to get bitter, Jet fans. Real Jet fans and Miami fans that followed their rival knows what they got in Pennington. A QB who cannot throw deep, and will never win a Superbowl. To be frank, I'd be shocked if Miami ever manages to GET to the Superbowl with Pennington. The first playoff team with a top ranked defense will beat Miami. They'll be quick, get Miami into a third and long, and there will be an game ending interception. I'm still happy we got rid of Pennington.
- ChanM, on 01/01/2009, -1/+1sounds like a butt-hurt Jets fan. LOL, look at that pathetic Favre. Favre = most overrated QB in NFL History.
- orthodoxDrew, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2i'm withya also cut Tony *****
- unradical, on 01/01/2009, -1/+1The Jets have 7 pro bowlers this year. The dolphins have 2. Yea, Favre's team was just lacking talent.... /s
- freethrowtommy, on 01/01/2009, -3/+3I like the part where the Jets suck ass...
- shiddysmurf, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2But did he turn a 1-15 team into a 11-5 team? Chad did.
- bixby1, on 12/31/2008, -4/+4The guy took a team from 1-15 to an AFC East title, this was a no-brainer
- sgtbutterscotch, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2Favre has Laveraneus Coles and Jerricho Cotchery, but couldn't lead his team to he playoffs? The Dolphins have Ginn and that Cammarilo guy who got injured for the season. I'm not sure which players you're talking about that Parcells has added to make the Dolphins so much better.
- Scott83k, on 01/01/2009, -8/+6brett favre sucks ass. ***** him, and the wranglers he wears. i am drunk and on digg and this is what i end up doing. good for chad. i hat mangina for trading chad and making the AFC east competitive once again. I hope favre retires and stays that way. BURN IN HELL BRETT FAVRE
- shiddysmurf, on 01/01/2009, -4/+1Your right, Parcells did good with signing all those free agents. But it sounds like you're trying to hold on to that washed up hack!
- shiddysmurf, on 01/01/2009, -9/+2It's just good to see that a team that plays honest football won that seed unlike some other cheating team in that conference. 18-1.

What is Digg?
